- Chapter 467: All The Masterminds Appear

Had Liora experienced any dangers in the past? Of course.
Her journey so far had been plagued with desperate situations, constantly being under the threat of higher-level beings.
Yet, no matter how grave the situation in the past seemed to be, she always had a backup plan.
When she perished in the world of Knights, she had already made preparations for her revival and could be certain she would be reborn.
When she faced the World Devourer Ancestor, she had made sufficient preparations to survive even if she were to fail in her counterattack. At most, she would lose part of her strength.
But now, Liora found herself in danger with no insurance for her safety.
Not because she had forgotten to be cautious, but because of the massive gap between her and the opponent.
In front of an Ancient Devil, every backup plan she had made and every trump card she possessed proved meaningless.
Even her preparations and backups in other worlds would be rendered invalid if targeted by an Ancient Devil.
For the first time in her life, Liora faced an existential crisis.
If things continued on like this, she would surely perish!
And her death would be final. Even if recovery were possible, it would take countless years and a large number of coincidences.
Upon that thought, Liora’s mind began to race.
Her eyes reflected the towering figure of the rioting Four Elements Devil, who was doing his best to destroy the Demon Layer below, while she attempted to find ways to save herself.
Her first thought was on the System.
Unfortunately, when she looked at her depleted Evolution Points, which had hardly recovered since her last splurge, she soon shook her head.
The World-Descending Array, her current abilities, her status as an Archdevil, and being the source of a bloodline…
Idea after idea rushed through Liora’s mind.
But no matter how hard she tried, she found nothing that could help her situation.
Just when she was starting to feel desperate, an odd expression crossed her face.
Liora noticed something strange.
An inexplicable energy suddenly flowed into her body and poured into her soul space before settling into her World of Heart.
The energy and the World of Heart fused seamlessly.
The energy was split apart and flowed into everything, whether it was the land, the creatures, or even the sun.
There was even a portion of it that helped the world and the soul space expand.
The progress was not particularly obvious at first and could be regarded as a mere coincidence.
But as the phenomenon lasted for a few moments, it finally came to Liora’s attention.
She grew confused, wondering where this energy came from.
Her eyes soon lit up. Raising her head, she glanced at the Devil Empress’s Furnace and the Primordial Sin Phantom floating behind her back.
She looked at the source of that energy. Or rather, she stared at the chunks of the continents these two things had devoured.
She instantly guessed what this energy was.
“Is it the essence of the Demon Layer, akin to the World Origin of worlds in the Origin Sea?”
“Can it help my World of Heart grow more powerful and expand?”, she couldn’t help but whisper.
Already having an answer, she didn’t hesitate.
She urged all her abilities to frantically devour as many of the Demon Layer pieces as possible.
The transformation of her World of Heart accelerated.
Two times, ten times, one hundred times.
In the blink of an eye, it was growing stronger at a rate of more than a thousand times compared to before.
This improvement was all-around. It included its size, as well as the essence of the world itself.
It didn’t take long.
Only a few moments later, the entire World of Heart began to vibrate.
With a thunderous rumble, its fundamental structure transformed.
Put simply, everything grew more real.
Liora understood the reason. Her World of Heart had turned from a broken “room” of space into a real demi-plane.
Unfortunately, though this greatly strengthened her own soul and brought her closer to the peak of the Way of the Heart power system, it was far from enough to save her from her current predicament.
Knowing this, Liora gritted her teeth.
With a move of her mind, she controlled the World of Heart to descend, using it as a means to devour the broken Demon Layer.
She wouldn’t have done so at any other time.
The World of Heart was bound to her soul. If it were damaged in any way, she would also suffer greatly.
Yet, she had no other choice now.
She could only bet that a further transformation of the World of Heart would give her the ability to escape.
If it didn’t, then…
She could only accept her fate.
Soon, a strange scene took place in the 173rd Layer of the Demon World, one which had never happened before and would never happen again in the future.
An Ancient Devil was rampaging, tearing apart a colossal landmass with his bare hands, while a tiny woman remained frozen outside of it, devouring the floating ruins.
The two created a surprisingly harmonious scene. Though millions of continents were broken apart, not many parts of them escaped.
Time slowly went by. Seconds seemed like years for Liora.
When the Four Elements Devil used his claws to tear the last chunk of the Demon Layer apart, two sounds echoed simultaneously—or rather, three.
One was a thunderous bang that seemingly represented the birth of the Origin Sea. It came from Liora’s World of Heart as it completed its transformation.
One was a mournful cry that stemmed from the Demon Layer itself. As its last piece was pulled apart, this landmass, which had stood for millions of years, was forever shattered.
As for the last sound…
“Sigh…”, a voice filled with regret echoed. The space before the Four Elements Devil blurred, and the figure of a person emerged from the warped void.
“I had already expected this, but I’m still saddened to see my efforts go to ruin.”, it muttered.
“Fortunately, it seems the time to reap the ’fruits’ is finally here.”
