First Immortal of the Sword - Chapter 2742 - Just Brute Force

Chapter 2742 – Just Brute Force
Yu Guangjun’s smile faded in the face of that intense pressure. He felt prickling pain all over his skin.
But this didn’t startle him. On the contrary, it delighted him. A worthwhile opponent indeed!
He let out a deep breath and circulated his unparalleled cultivation base, his vital energy rumbling and booming.
Black and white sword intent manifested above his head, like the intermingling of Yin and Yang, the flow of the turbid and pure.
His imposing aura soared, like a volcano on the brink of eruption.
Yu Guangjun’s whole body was swathed in stingingly radiant sword light. The white light shone like the midday sun, brimming with Yang energy.
The black was as dark as night, a manifestation of supreme Yin.
It was as if he controlled the alternation of night and day, the cycle of Yin and Yang, as he manifested these shocking phenomena of the Grand Dao.
Boom!
He’d yet to attack, but he’d already plunged heaven and earth into chaos. The sky shook on all sides, and the earth split, forming countless massive craters.
All of this was the result of their clashing powers!
Over on the city walls, Pu Xuan narrowed his eyes. There was no denying it; Yu Guangjun really was quite capable.
He was only in the Unfettered Realm, but judging by the change to his imposing aura, he could have suppressed even an elite Divine Wandering Realm cultivator like Yang Lingxiao!
But then, Yu Guangjun’s expression shifted.
His imposing aura couldn’t shake Su Yi. On the contrary, it was being suppressed in turn!
Su Yi’s momentum gathered and grew, condensed into a single, cohesive whole. None of its power leaked outward to suppress his surroundings.
It looked like he was just walking, but in truth, he was like a majestic divine mountain swathed in the force of heaven and earth.
Yu Guangjun’s imposing aura was suppressed and forced back. Even his heart and soul felt the impact. They’d yet to fight, but his qi had already been shaken!
Yu Guangjun attacked without the slightest hesitation. He knew that if he didn’t, he’d soon be fully suppressed. It would be too late to attack, then!
Clang!
Yu Guangjun didn’t move, but a snow-white sword suddenly shot out of the white sheath on his back.
Snowy sword light erupted from its edge, like a boundless white river of stars. A snow-white Flood Dragon appeared amidst its glow, fangs bared and claws extended. It looked truly alive.
The sword was called White Flood Dragon, and it was an unparalleled weapon infamous for its ferocity. It was imbued with a natural chaos source and the soul of a variant Flood Dragon. When people spoke of it, they said, “When the White Flood Dragon soars into the heavens, a sword cleaves open the firmament.”
A prominent expert of True Martial Sword Court had indeed once used it to cut down the sky!
The sword shot forth, and the white flood dragon soared. Intense, stinging white light illuminated both heaven and earth.
Su Yi didn’t retreat. Instead, he walked forward, sleeves billowing around him, and struck the air. The enormous flood dragon collapsed, falling apart like an avalanche!
A single slap had shattered it into pieces!
The white sheath on Yu Guangjun’s bath shook, then let out a clanging wail. Yu Guangjun’s face paled, and his eyes widened in obvious disbelief.
But there was no time to stop and think. He bellowed, and a pitch-black Hornless Dragon shot out of the black sheath on his back.
It too was a sword. With a flash of sword light, an eternal night descended over heaven and earth. All was dark, and all was dim.
Su Yi’s robes billowed, and he swung his palm once more, as if parting the heavens. The darkness enshrouding heaven and earth shattered beneath his palm.
The humming of a sword rang out, shaking the heavens as Black Hornless Dragon was sent flying backward.
Yu Guangjun staggered on his feet, blood gushing from the corners of his lips.
His eyes widened, and his heart shook.
His opponent hadn’t drawn any kind of sword, nor was he using any sort of secret art. He’d just casually struck the air, yet he seemed utterly unshakeable.
As if there was nothing he could not break!
It was far too barbaric. No matter how lofty Yu Guangjun’s attainments were, Su Yi shattered them with a slap, with no logic to speak of!
Throughout his years of cultivation, Yu Guangjun had sparred with his sectmates countless times, and he’d tempered his edge in too many dragon’s dens and tiger’s lairs to count.
How could his sect have attached such importance to him if he weren’t capable?
Everyone Divine Reverence Pavilion considered for their lists was the real deal, someone carefully selected from the teeming masses of Unfettered Realm Eternals in the Eternal Heavens Domain. All of them had been meticulously researched.
Yu Guangjun had overcome that very stringent selection process, and his Dao of the Sword really was unparalleled. He would never have become such a hot topic otherwise.
Yet now, for the first time in his life, Yu Guangjun felt despair in a competition of the Dao of the Sword.
Su Yi was just walking through the air. He’d yet to even draw his sword, yet he’d suppressed Yu Guangjun’s momentum.
Even a casual strike was enough to send his weapons flying backward!
As firm and unyielding as Yu Guangjun’s Dao Heart was, he felt helpless. His opponent was like a mountain, utterly unshakeable!
Who is this guy? Why is he so terrifying? Don’t tell me he’s one of the proud chosen of heaven in the top hundred of the Unfettered Ranking?
No, that’s impossible!
Yu Guangjun had researched everyone in the top hundreds. He knew their origins, cultivations, personalities, weapons, and their accomplishments in elaborate detail.
He dared say with certainty that his opponent wasn’t among the unparalleled chosen in the top hundred.
But that was precisely what Yu Guangjun found so unsettling.
Divine Reverence Pavilion was the best-informed faction around. Supposedly, there was nothing and no one they did not know!
This was why their lists and commentary were so widely trusted and upheld as a standard.
But this opponent was nowhere to be found on their lists. That unquestionably implied that it hadn’t been long since he’d broken into Eternity, and that his reputation had yet to draw Divine Reverence Pavilion’s attention!
Were that really the case, it would be far too unbelievable.
Could my opponent really be new to the Unfettered Realm?
This thought flashed through Yu Guangjun’s head, but he had no time to ponder any further; Su Yi was already fast approaching. Only one thousand feet remained between them.
Yu Guangjun’s eyes suddenly blazed with determination, his heart calm and clear. He set aside his scattered thoughts, unleashed the full extent of his cultivation base, and launched his strongest attack.
Clang! Clang!
White Flood Dragon and Black Hornless Dragon manifested two sword wheels, blanketing the sky and blotting out the sun.
Unstoppable sword intent brought with it the wondrous power of supreme Yin and supreme Yang, sweeping forth in an instant.
Like two revolving, rumbling millstones intent on grinding Su Yi away.
This strike was called the Yin-Yang Millstone!
Suddenly, Su Yi stopped in place, pressed his fingers into a makeshift sword, and struck the air.
All of his concentrated, accumulated sword force and momentum seemed to have finally found an outlet. Heaven and earth shook. Mountains crumbled, and the winds howled.
The two millstones of sword qi were like waves trying to flow upstream. Soon, they’d both been blasted to bits.
Kaboom!
Heaven and earth rumbled and boomed.
The distant onlookers’ eyes stung, and their expressions shifted.
Only Pu Xuan saw it clearly. Yu Guangjun had been thoroughly suppressed!
His defensive treasures hadn’t been enough to block that attack. That boundless, immeasurable sword force had pinned him in place!
When the sword force filling the sky dissipated, everything returned to stillness.
A massive crater had appeared on the ground. Countless sparks of sword qi flashed in the crater.
Yu Guangjun lay at its base, sprawled out in a pool of his own blood. His azure robes had been ripped to shreds.
If he weren’t still quivering intermittently, he might well have been mistaken for a corpse!
Heaven and earth fell silent. Even the birds ceased their song.
Yang Lingxiao stood there in a daze, eyes full of bewilderment. That’s Yu Guangjun! A true, unparalleled chosen of heaven from True Martial Sword Court, an Unfettered realm sword cultivator famed in the Five Great Continents! A likely candidate for the next Unfettered Ranking!
How could he have lost so badly?
The hundred-plus Eternals stood there like wooden chickens, scared out of their wits.
Even the Immeasurable Realm old-timers among them felt chills course down their spines, and their courage failed them.
They were no match for Wen Zhong.
Wen Zhong was no match for Yang Lingxiao.
Yang Lingxiao was no match for Yu Guangjun.
And now, Yu Guangjun had been suppressed! He lay there at the base of a crater, covered in blood, unable to get up and keep fighting!
Over on the city walls, Pu Xuan’s eyes lit up. Su Yi’s strike had set his blood on fire for the first time in a long, long time.
Over in the skies over the imperial palace, Qin Cangtu, Qin Suqing, and the others looked dazed. All they could think was, We misjudged the situation! We assumed that Pu Xuan was the stronger of the two, but now, it seems we were way, way off.
Fellow Daoist Su Xuanjun obviously held back most of his strength when he fought in the city center a few days ago. He spared our experts’ lives. If he hadn’t… they’d all be dead by now!
Meanwhile, Su Yi floated airily down to earth, walked over to Yu Guangjun, and crouched beside him. He said with a smile, “Are you still eager to hunt?”
Yu Guangjun quivered and raised his head with great difficulty. It was completely covered in blood and dirt.
His lips shifted, and he rasped, “Might you tell me what kind of skill you used earlier?”
Su Yi wiped the smile off his face. Yu Guangjun had been injured to the brink of death, but he wasn’t trying to figure out how best to struggle to survive. Instead, he was asking about his opponent’s swordsmanship.
A mentality like that was worthy of Su Yi’s respect.
“I didn’t use any kind of skill,” said Su Yi. “That was just brute force.”
He wasn’t lying, either. He hadn’t even unsheathed his sword. That was just the pure power of his Dao of the Sword.
This was what they meant when they said that overwhelming strength could crush even superior skill.
“Brute force, huh…?” Yu Guangjun looked dazed.
“Can you stand?” asked Su Yi.
Yu Guangjun gnashed his teeth, dragging himself out of the pit on his hands and feet.
The most startling part was that as he moved, the wounds covering his mangled body tore open, gushing with blood. Chunks of flesh fell off, and in places, even his broken bones were visible.
Even so, Yu Guangjun slowly, shakily managed to steady himself.
He even managed to straighten his back!
Then, he breathed in ragged gasps, looked at Su Yi, and said hoarsely, “I lost. Do with me as you see fit. Even if you kill me, I won’t so much as furrow my brow!”
His features were mangled beyond recognition, but his eyes were calm and determined, without any sign of fear or hesitation.
Over on the wall, Pu Xuan raised an eyebrow. The guy might be detestable and dishonest, but his strength of character is quite something.
Su Yi made no move to attack him. He just took a sip from his jug of wine and looked around. “Where is your martial uncle? Why hasn’t he come to save you? Don’t tell me he hasn’t shown himself because he thinks I wouldn’t dare to kill you?”
