First Immortal of the Sword - Chapter 2760 - Taiwu Grotto, Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan

Chapter 2760 – Taiwu Grotto, Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan
Xiao Zhixuan was still the same Xiao Zhixuan, but he somehow seemed like a completely different person.
He was no longer a drunken vagrant. Now, his every gesture was full of calm, contemptuous, dignified majesty.
“I have plenty of wine. You can just have it; no need for an exchange.” Su Yi took out a jug of wine and tossed it to him. “As for a change of heart? Don’t even think about it. Defeat me if you can.”
Xiao Zhixuan took a sip of wine and nodded. “Very well!”
Now, when he looked at Su Yi, his eyes contained a hint of heartfelt admiration. His heart is so strong. If he lives, he’ll surely rise to prominence in the Eternal Heavens Domain one day.
If he were any other Unfettered Realm cultivator, even if he had the courage to fight me, he’d have died in front of the Divine Hunt Edict a long time ago.
“Before we keep fighting, there’s something I’d like to know,” said Su Yi. “Do you really treat mortals the way you said you did earlier?”
Xiao Zhixuan couldn’t help but find the question surprising. Why ask about something so irrelevant?
But then, he nodded. “I never point my sword at mortals. That’s why your behavior in the Huaihuang Empire made me think more highly of you.”
Su Yi smiled. “It was worth giving you all that wine after all.”
Xiao Zhixuan was at a loss for words. Commenting on me so casually? You’re quite bold, kid!
Out loud, he said, “Attack. I’ll leave you a chance at life. You don’t need to die here.”
Su Yi took a step forward and flashed through the air.
Kcch!
A perfectly straight rift appeared in the sky. Xiao Zhixuan’s stomach was at the far end.
Su Yi, meanwhile, had appeared behind him. He took a sip of wine and asked, “What did you think of that attack?”
Xiao Zhixuan faced away from Su Yi and looked at the gash on his belly. He nodded. “Its sharpness is unparalleled. I’ve seldom seen its equal!”
He was no longer smiling. On the contrary, he looked utterly grim; he clearly wasn’t lying.
Here in the Huaihuang Empire, only Heavenly Sovereigns could contend with the power of the Laws.
But now, this young sword cultivator had broken what should have been an ironclad rule.
Xiao Zhixuan hadn’t lied earlier. Here, even Heavenly Sovereigns could only resist the Laws enough to display Divine Wandering Realm cultivation.
But that was precisely what made this so shocking.
That young sword cultivator wasn’t affected by the Laws at all. He’d unleashed his full Unfettered Realm cultivation base, and even though he was a full realm lower than this Xiao Zhixuan, he’d almost destroyed his clone!
That attack wasn’t just sharp and tyrannical. It was utterly shocking. That was why Xiao Zhixuan said he’d seldom seen its equal.
Those who knew his true identity would have understood that coming from him, that was high praise indeed.
Boom!
The perfectly straight rift in the sky dissipated. A chasm formed in the sky, rumbling and booming like thunder.
Xiao Zhixuan’s figure split in two at the waist.
His lower body scattered into a rain of light, while his upper body grew indistinct and ethereal. It turned to look at Su Yi.
“Allow me to introduce myself. I’m a sword cultivator, and my Daoist title is Ku Xuan. The people of the Eternal Heavens Domain know me as Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan. We’ll… meet again.”
Before his voice had even finished echoing through the air, Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan dissipated into a rain of light and vanished.
“Ku Xuan… So, it’s him.” Su Yi finally understood.
Ku Xuan was one of the nine Heavenly Sovereigns of the Eternal Heavens Domain. His Eternal Throne was called Taiwu Grotto!
His faction, the Taiwu Sect, was based in the Blackwater Celestial Capital. It was the greatest Demonist faction of the present day!
All of this was common knowledge.
Rumor had it that Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan was typically deep in seclusion in Flowing Abundance Pavilion, his cultivation grounds in the Blackwater Celestial Capital. It had been a long, long time since he’d last made an appearance.
He hadn’t appeared during the God Domain’s Battle for Order, either.
Who could have imagined that one of his clones was hidden in a mundane nation in a remote backwater like the Blue Peak Continent?
Xiao Zhixuan was a wandering, drunken swordsman, while Ku Xuan was one of the nine Heavenly Sovereigns, a proud figure at the pinnacle of the Eternal Heavens Domain.
The disparity was far too enormous.
The black-hearted, insidious old-timer might have been dishonest, but I’ve got to say, he’s quite impressive, thought Su Yi.
He was a Heavenly Sovereign, yet he lived amongst mortals, finding satisfaction wandering the red dust of mundanity.
Most importantly, he cared about mortals’ lives!
If for no other reason than that, he was worthy of Su Yi’s respect.
Of course, that didn’t change his ruthless, strategic nature. He might have looked like a slovenly old drunkard, but in truth, his appearance was a trap.
After all, who could have imagined that someone so shameless and insidious would be a Heavenly Sovereign?
Su Yi knew that if he’d been any weaker, he’d have died an unseemly death just now!
When Xiao Zhixuan’s body dissipated, three figures fell from the sky. These were none other than Imperial Preceptor Lu Yuan, Shen Duqiu, and Yun Zhao’an.
Su Yi waved his sleeves, lifted their unconscious forms into the air, and gently set them on the viewing platform atop the Mountain of Bitter Rains.
Suddenly, Imperial Preceptor Lu Yuan opened his eyes and laughed. “My young friend, you haven’t let me down. Next time I see you, I’ll spare your life.”
Su Yi’s eyes narrowed. He instantly understood that this was an imprint of Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan’s will; he was temporarily borrowing Imperial Preceptor Lu Yuan’s body.
It seemed he’d left this imprint here purely to see whether or not Su Yi would kill the three greatest martial artists of this mundane empire.
“Want to chat a while longer?” Su Yi floated onto the observation deck.
Imperial Preceptor Lu Yuan blinked. “We might well meet again outside the Huaihuang Empire. You’d best hurry up and get Great Sorrow out of here.”
Before his voice had even finished echoing through the air, Imperial Preceptor Lu Yuan quivered, then sank back into unconsciousness.
Su Yi examined him with his divine sense and confirmed that Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan’s avatar really had vanished.
He took out a jug of wine and was just about to take Pu Xuan out of his sleeve when the unconscious Shen Duqiu suddenly sat upright and laughed. “Right, there’s something I almost forgot.”
Su Yi was completely speechless. He almost couldn’t resist the urge to cut Shen Duqiu in two. This Demonist Heavenly Sovereign’s skin is far too thick!
There was no doubt about it. This was yet another imprint of Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan’s will.
“Don’t worry! I’m not kidding around here,” Shen Duqiu said with a laugh. “It was Lu Hongpao who placed the Divine Hunt Edict at the foot of the mountain after the End of the Devastation. The owner of Great Sorrow died a long time ago, but his relationship with Lu Hongpao ran deep. You’d best be careful!”
Su Yi said expressionlessly, “Thank you for taking the effort to warn me.”
Shen Duqiu sighed. “As your senior, I’m glad you understand my intentions. After all, I’m the most agreeable of the nine Heavenly Sovereigns. I’ve always delighted in looking after juniors.”
“But Lu Hongpao is different. She’s capricious, eccentric, and easily angered, and she kills without reason. You’ve destroyed the Edict she left here, and soon, you’ll take the vicious sword sealed here. If Lu Hongpao finds out, you’ll be in trouble!”
Su Yi rubbed his forehead. He recalled that Wang Zhiwu, the Master of the Book of Legends, said he admired no one more than the Red-Robed Heavenly Sovereign, Lu Hongpao.
Later, Su Yi learned that Lu Hongpao was a woman. They said that her red robes could blot out the sun, and that she’d killed enough powerful enemies to dye the skies of the entire Eternal Heavens Domain red.
Now, according to Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan, she was connected to both the Divine Hunt Edict and the vicious sword, Great Sorrow.
Su Yi really didn’t know what to say in response. It seems I’m really down on my luck. I just offended two Heavenly Sovereigns at once!
“Of course, if you’re worried that Lu Hongpao will make trouble for you, you’re welcome to come find me at Flowing Abundance Pavilion, or ask for help at the Taiwu Sect…”
But before he could go on, Su Yi said, “Didn’t you say you were waiting outside the Huaihuang Empire? I’ll just come find you after I leave!”
Shen Duqiu laughed. “Good!”
With that, the imprint of Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan’s will vanished, and Shen Duqiu fell unconscious once more.
Su Yi looked at Yun Zhao’an. He couldn’t help but suspect that he’d been possessed, too.
Fortunately, nothing of the sort happened.
After this little interlude, Su Yi could no longer be bothered to let Pu Xuan out. Instead, he shot through the Mountain of Bitter Rains, boring right through the rock, and shot toward its depths.
Within just a few breaths of time, he’d reached a spot thirty thousand feet below the mountain’s base.
Here, he saw a strange, wondrous prison separate from the outside world and full of countless, dense, interwoven Laws.
It was a prison formed from the Divine Hunt Edict!
A sword hovered inside it. It was worn, with a blade as white as frost and covered in fine cracks. The hilt looked as if it had been bathed in blood for countless years; it was strikingly red, as if it were on fire.
Although it was sealed, when Su Yi appeared, the sword spun and pointed its tip at him.
Su Yi felt a prickling pain between his eyes, and a sense of extreme danger arose in his heart, even though he was still outside of the prison.
He couldn’t help but find this surprising.
The prison formed by the Divine Hunt Edict created a separate space. Everything in it, no matter who or what it was, was sealed completely, unable to resist.
Yet this sword was obviously extraordinary. It hadn’t been fully sealed.
A child silently appeared over the sword. His hair was tangled, but his little face was delicate and pretty.
He wore oversized green robes, and he sat cross-legged on the blade, resting his head in his hands. He said listlessly, “An Unfettered Realm kid came all this way to see me? You really look down on me, huh?”
Su Yi’s eyebrows rose. A sword soul? A sword spirit? Or some other random spiritual body?
“Tell me, then. Which Heavenly Sovereign do you work for, and why were they too chicken to come here themselves? Are they worried I’ll run them through to get even?” The boy in green yawned, clearly sleepy. “If you don’t want to tell me, just scram. Quit disturbing my slumber!”
Su Yi couldn’t help but laugh, then ask, “Forgive my boldness, but what exactly are you?”
The boy suddenly looked right at him, a radiant smile on his face as he said slowly and clearly, “If you’ve got the guts, say that again. Just try it!”
Explosive, sharp sword intent suddenly ran rampant throughout his prison.
