Genetic Ascension - Chapter 2096 Stroke Theory

Runeweaver was a truly amazing Profession for what it was. Its ability to tap into Rune Mastery, to help it along, and to force change as a result of it was masterful.
When you really thought about it, this sort of distilled ability was quite impressive. Though the Eye was a bit limited if the user wasn’t all that good of a Rune Master, there was no doubt that it could cover for many potential weaknesses a Rune Mastery might have had.
Sylas had run into many items in his time, but other than the Primus Luminaria Title which apparently helped improve success rates, he had never run into anything else that helped Rune Mastery so directly like this.
By this point, he wasn’t just some human who had come from a Summoned World and knew nothing of the wider universe. He had seen a lot. And though the Weaver Guild wasn’t at the top of the Skai Heaven, they were impressive nonetheless.
However…
If it had been someone of the Rune Creation stage of perfection that had crafted the Runeweaver Eye, it would have been infinitely more powerful.
At this point, though, Sylas still didn’t have the evolutionary energy he would need to change the Profession entirely either.
It seemed that he had run into another bottleneck. The energy to progress an entire Race to Demi-Godhood had really taken up a lot.
But Sylas hadn’t been thinking about Runeweaver for the sake of this. He was thinking about Runeweaver because he felt that it only made sense that if he was going to rebuild everything himself in the future… That everything should likewise be built like Runeweaver.
If he could replicate all his Skills better with Runes than just using them directly, instead of ignoring his Skills, then he should just twist them until they helped his Rune Mastery along.
And for that, the Weaver Guild would help again.
When Sylas had been in the Weaver Guild’s library, he had learned about many minor principles that he had subconsciously understood, but never put into practice.
Rune Linkage, Will Priming… Stroke Theory…
The first was a study of how Runes interacted with one another, whether playing off of one another or rejecting one another.
The second was a study of how a region being Primed for the formation of one kind of Rune would make it faster and easier to draw that exact sort of Rune. At the highest levels, it was even possible to draw Runes you had never even seen or tried before simply because the Priming allowed you to feel them out and sense them… true Spark Mastery.
Then there was Stroke Theory, forming a bridge between one’s Will and the universe itself.
These and hundreds of other minor disciplines were things that even children could innately understand, but had never been put into real words.
But if Sylas used them to reforge his Classes into the D-tier…
A radiant energy began to exude from him.
…then instead of just forging a field of Glassvolt, he could Prime the region until the field naturally manifested all on its own.
It was a simple concept that could be applied again and again and then again.
If his two Classes didn’t fit well into one another, then he could simply find a way they did and then take advantage of Rune Linkage until they no longer clashed against one another, but instead worked as one.
Chaotic Sovereign and Glassborn Cryst Emperor both had an arrogance to them, both wanted to rule, both were Prideful down to the very bones.
What was this if not a link?
Wasn’t he too silly in ignoring this?
But even so, this was just a superficial connection, a sparing one that might work to link his mind and mentality when using them, but wouldn’t effectively allow him to use them in battle together.
Chaotic Space Aether and Glassvolt Aether… their Stroke Theory was completely different from one another. One was chaotic and wild, the other was ice cold and stoic.
However… Sylas had never been a chaotic person to begin with. How did he use Chaotic Space?
He had always been controlled, the Sins never ruled him, his body, his mind, his intent moved as it pleased.
In that case, he would force Chaos to obey, and he had the perfect conduit for exactly that.
Mixed Chaotic Arts.
This Comprehension of his was truly powerful. Its ability to take a chaotic input and distill it into something that he could easily grasp and understand was unlike anything Sylas had ever seen except in his most powerful abilities.
If he forced Chaotic Sovereign to shift this way, then what he would have wasn’t just unbridled chaos.
He would have controlled Chaos.
And that sort of controlled Chaos was a perfect match for Glassvolt Aether.
Lightning Aether was always known to be amongst the most difficult if not the most impossible to use. But Glassvolt was different because it could use the insulating and conductive abilities of Glass Aether to direct the lightning more easily.
Sylas had never had a problem controlling his lightning even a single time.
What was that if not controlled Chaos?
The moment Sylas grasped this singular Will concept, his Stroke Theory locked in and his aura completely changed.
SHUU. SHUU. SHUU.
Calculations whizzed by in his mind as the amount of energy he had left plummeted rapidly. But as though he didn’t notice, Sylas kept pressing, his mind exuding a chilling calm as he raced against the drain for more efficiency, more perfection.
It was hard to say when he would gain such a huge influx of Evolutionary Energy again. After this point, he would probably need to accumulate for much longer.
The stronger he was, the more Evolutionary Energy it would take to force changes even on the margin.
But that wasn’t going to stop him from forging two Classes he felt would withstand the test of time with him for the time being.
Two Classes that would crush his enemies.
Sylas’ eyes flashed open, sparks of emerald, violet… and black lightning exuding from their corners.
