Chapter 1850: Part 1: Green Elemental Tower Wizards
Crystal City Shop
That night, it was shop closing time. I had met with the guests. No one else was coming at the moment, so I told my staff to close down.
After doing that, I went back to my room. I waited near the window for the Zero Puppet to arrive. I was sure it must have collected some information.
I wanted to know the moves of these hostile forces before anyone else. I waited until midnight.
Swoosh!
Right then, dark red smoke entered through the gap in the window. It appeared inside the room, and the smoke then became the Zero Puppet.
“Master,” the puppet greeted me.
“Do you have enough mana stones?” I asked.
“Yes,” it replied.
I sat down on the bed and started listening to the intel reports. This time, the Zero Puppet had found even more information.
I had thought it would find some hidden enemies wanting to attack me, but I never expected the puppet to discover a plot as well.
The incident with the weird men who brought the decapitated head was the work of the Doyle Family. My eyes flickered with cold intent.
I knew these guys would make a move, but I didn’t expect the Doyle Family to step out first.
Who was next? The Green Elemental Tower has better resources; they could come up with a better plan. The Zero Puppet then continued to reveal more intel.
A few minutes later, the Zero Puppet finished sharing the intel. I thanked the puppet before putting it away inside the Gregor Mansion.
After doing that, I left the room and went to the terrace. I remembered the Infinite Wizard Association told me they would send someone to give me an intel report.
The contract was active starting today. It hadn’t even been 15 minutes when the system reminded me that someone had entered the community. Hearing that, I turned toward the gate.
My gaze fell on the main entrance, where I saw a long shadow appear on the ground. It moved in a zigzag manner. In the blink of an eye, it entered the house and reached the terrace.
A middle-aged man clad in black clothes appeared. He wore a face mask to cover his identity. I used the system’s probe function but didn’t find any malicious intent from the person.
“Are you from the Infinite Wizard Association?” I asked.
The black-clad man nodded. Then, he started briefing me on the intel collected by the Association. I stood with my arms crossed and continued to listen.
I didn’t think they could match the intel-gathering talent of the Zero Puppet, but as time passed, I had to change my opinion.
The black-clad man brought something new.
“Are you sure? The Green Elemental Tower is sending a Magic Lord to greet me?” I asked to confirm.
The black-clad man nodded his head.
My expression turned serious. I understood the plan of the Green Elemental Tower. They were sending their Magic Lord to probe me.
I couldn’t openly disrespect a Magic Lord of the Green Elemental Tower; they would definitely create unnecessary problems out of it.
The informer finished his report. He then took my permission and left.
Once he was gone, I used the system probe function to verify that no one else was paying attention to the community. I returned to my room and went to sleep.
The Next Morning
As usual, I left my room after getting ready. I saw customers waiting in line. I looked around before going into the office. I didn’t wear a mask today.
I had been planning to use an alternative identity, but the black-clad man’s intel made me change my plans. If I used the “Frank” identity, it would be hard to conceal it from a Magic Lord.
In the gallery room, I sat down on the sofa. I looked out through the window and saw that customers had started coming in.
I took out my device and phoned Manager Lara. I wanted to know the details regarding the magic mask.
Manager Lara answered the call. “Vincent, how is it going?”
“Hmm, I did encounter a weird killer yesterday,” I said, before explaining the previous day’s events.
“You have to be careful. I heard the hostile forces are moving. Do you need any help?” Lara asked. She was clearly worried.
Vincent’s enemies were top wizard families and Magic Towers; they had already tasted defeat at his hands and wouldn’t miss this opportunity.
“I will take care of myself. But I wanted to know about the status of the magic mask,” I asked her.
“I told Lord Charlotte about this. She knows of your plight and told me she will do something about it,” Lara replied.
Hearing that, I was disappointed. I knew it wasn’t easy to find a high-grade mask artifact. I spoke to her about a few more things before ending the call. I put away the device and leaned back.
I guess I have to use my real identity for a couple of days. I had already told others that I had sent “Frank” to another place, so I could manage things here.
Meanwhile
The Green Elemental Tower had sent their men: one Magic Lord and two Supreme Wizards.
They had already reached Crystal City. They saw the customers standing in the queue, but they didn’t join the line. Instead, they wanted to meet Wizard Vincent Carey directly.
They decided to contact city officials first. Even though Crystal City was under the Silver Tower, they were all part of the Mage Union.
Elder Blake and the officials were in their office monitoring the entire city. Since Wizard Vincent was here, they knew he could face attacks from hostile forces.
Yesterday, a weird man had tried to frame him; they knew the man was sent by the Doyle Family, but they didn’t have evidence yet.
The man hadn’t confessed, and to make him do so, they would have to report to the higher-ups of the Silver Tower. They had yet to do that.
