I Became the Rich Second-Generation Villain - Chapter 397: Crowds Gather

For a brief moment, Liu Yue’s expression remained tense, but then it slowly relaxed. Even though she disapproved of Wang Haorian’s behavior, there was nothing she could do about it. If she picked a fight and made things awkward, and he ended up tattling to her younger sister or “husband,” then she would have no way to clean up the mess.
Since that was the case, Liu Yue decided not to dwell on it any longer.
She cast aside her irritation and turned to Lin Mo with curiosity. “You know how to play basketball too?”
In her impression, Lin Mo was always buried in academics. She had never once seen him touch a basketball.
“I know a teeny bit,” Lin Mo replied with a cheerful smile.
“If that’s the case, then go ahead,” Liu Yue said. She did not want to rain on his enthusiasm, so she chose not to say anything more.
Seeing her indifferent reaction only made Lin Mo more eager.
He could not help imagining the expression she would make when she saw his godlike basketball skills. He looked forward to that wide-eyed shock, maybe even admiration.
Morning classes passed quickly, and not long after lunch, students began to gather around the basketball court. Most were from the finance department, while a few had come from other majors.
They had all heard there would be a basketball game and came to watch. To be more precise, they came to see the campus heartthrob.
Wang Haorian held immense popularity at Qingling University. His fanbase of infatuated girls was massive, and some were more than just regular admirers. Among them were school beauty fans.
Qin Yunhan and Xu Muyan arrived early and staked out a good spot near the court. The moment they appeared, countless male students turned their heads, eyes following their every move.
But the two girls had long since grown used to this kind of attention.
Several boys even started shouting their names, hoping to catch their eyes.
Naturally, neither Qin Yunhan nor Xu Muyan responded, but that did not stop the little rivalry brewing between them.
“Did you hear that? More people are calling my name. That means I’m more popular,” Qin Yunhan said smugly as she glanced at Xu Muyan beside her.
“More people are looking at me, which means I’m more popular,” Xu Muyan shot back without missing a beat.
“Oh, please. We’re sitting right next to each other. How do you even know they’re not looking at me instead of you?” Qin Yunhan rolled her eyes.
“Because I’m bigger than you,” Xu Muyan leaned over and whispered into Qin Yunhan’s ear.
Normally, she would never say something like that, but whenever she sparred verbally with Qin Yunhan, her sense of restraint tended to vanish. Words just slipped out.
Qin Yunhan’s expression stiffened. She instinctively glanced downward below Xu Muyan’s neckline, then gritted her teeth. On that front, she really could not compare.
She thought about using Mu Zhaozhao’s bombshell figure to take a shot at Xu Muyan, but after scanning the crowd around the court, she realized Mu Zhaozhao was not there.
“I’m one seventy-five. Taller than you,” she quickly changed her angle of attack.
“I’m one sixty-eight. That’s not short,” Xu Muyan replied casually.
“I’ve already slept with him. You haven’t, have you?” Qin Yunhan leaned close and whispered the words before even thinking.
Xu Muyan blinked in disbelief, stunned for a moment. Her face flushed as she hissed back quietly, “Do you have no shame?”
“Are you jealous?” Qin Yunhan grinned.
“Ridiculous. Why would I be jealous of you?” Xu Muyan scoffed, but her heart clenched.
She remembered she had told him she was ready. Yet even after all this time, he never made a move.
Her heart filled with frustration. Still, she was not the kind of girl who would throw herself into his arms.
“Look, that girl is stunning!”
“Damn, she’s gorgeous. I think I’m gonna faint.”
“Who is she?”
“I think she’s from Finance Class 112. Her name is Yu Shiqing.”
“Yu Shiqing? Wasn’t she the girl with the birthmark on her face?”
“What birthmark? That’s gone. Just look at her now—absolutely stunning!”
“This isn’t fair. If I had known she was this beautiful without the birthmark, I would have chased her back then!”
“Freshman class this year is unreal. Another school beauty joins the ranks.”
The basketball court buzzed with conversation and excitement.
Suddenly, most of the attention that had been focused on Qin Yunhan and Xu Muyan shifted toward a new direction.
The two girls noticed the change and paused their bickering, curiosity piqued. They followed the direction of the crowd’s gaze.
A jaw-droppingly beautiful girl was walking slowly toward the court. Her face, her figure—everything was flawless.
But unlike Qin Yunhan and Xu Muyan, who were used to attention, this girl looked visibly uncomfortable under so many eyes. She kept her head lowered, clearly shy and not used to being the center of attention.
Eventually, she stopped and sat a few meters away from Qin Yunhan and Xu Muyan.
“Is that Yu Shiqing? She’s beautiful,” Xu Muyan murmured, unable to stop herself from admiring.
Qin Yunhan nodded slowly. With a teasing tone, she said, “Looks like she’s stealing all the spotlight.”
“So what if she is? It’s not like she’s stealing anyone’s boyfriend,” Xu Muyan said with a shrug.
She never liked being stared at by so many people anyway. If Yu Shiqing took away some of that attention, she really could not be bothered.
“You and that crow’s mouth. Don’t jinx it,” Qin Yunhan muttered.
“Come on. You think he’s some kind of magnet for school beauties? Just because someone is beautiful doesn’t mean she’ll fall for him,” Xu Muyan replied like she had just heard the most ridiculous thing in the world.
“You’re right,” Qin Yunhan agreed without hesitation.
She liked Wang Haorian’s charm, sure, but even with all his appeal, he already had two school beauties as girlfriends. The idea that he could pick up a third was just too absurd to believe.
Still, both girls found their eyes wandering toward Yu Shiqing again.
A few meters away, Yu Shiqing seemed to sense something. She turned her head slightly and made eye contact with them.
She blinked once, then gave a soft smile before looking toward the basketball court, as if searching for someone in particular.
“She seems pretty easy to get along with. Should we go say hi?” Qin Yunhan asked.
“If you want to, go ahead,” Xu Muyan replied.
Her personality was more reserved than Qin Yunhan’s, and she rarely initiated friendships on her own.
Qin Yunhan got up and walked over to Yu Shiqing, exchanged a few words, and quickly led her back.
Now sitting beside them, Yu Shiqing offered Xu Muyan a gentle smile and greeted her politely.
Xu Muyan returned the smile and exchanged names with her. It was a simple introduction, but enough to break the ice.
“Hey, pretty girl, do you have a boyfriend?” Qin Yunhan had always been outgoing. She could not resist probing with some gossip.
“Yes, I do,” Yu Shiqing replied with a soft smile.
Xu Muyan’s expression shifted slightly. She turned to Qin Yunhan and whispered, “See? I told you I wasn’t jinxing anything.”
Qin Yunhan gave her a triumphant smile.
Yu Shiqing having a boyfriend meant she would not be trying to steal theirs. That was definitely a good thing.
Meanwhile, Yu Shiqing looked a little confused. She did not understand what they were talking about.
“Who’s your boyfriend?” Qin Yunhan asked with a mischievous glint in her eyes.
