However, he had just recently broken through to Tier Seven and was still incapable of participating in battles beyond Tier Eight. Rashly intervening would only cause confusion, so he had to think of other ways to help.
Just as he was focusing his thoughts, the earth suddenly quaked violently. The towering ice mountains behind him trembled as spiderweb-like cracks appeared on the ice surface, and dense black mist like ink steamed out from the cracks, suffocating with an evil aura that quickly enveloped half the battlefield.
Almost the instant the black mist appeared, Mogara in the sky suddenly tilted his head back, and the demonic aura around him tripled. The originally deep black aura now had dark red patterns, forcefully pushing back Lan and the Four Divine Beasts several feet.
He looked down at Lan, whose expression had slightly changed, and a cold, bloodthirsty smile curled his lips.
“Not good!”
Lan’s previously calm expression finally changed.
After entering the ruins, broken memory fragments continuously surfaced, and with the Four Divine Beasts’ narratives, he understood the current situation.
This place considered a treasure trove by the Empire’s geniuses was indeed the “Divine Artifact Domain” of the Frozen Throne. Mogara’s heart and part of his bodily tissues were sealed here.
For thousands of years, Mogara’s heart had been attacking the seal of the Frozen Throne, causing cracks in the throne. The escaping power merged with the outer body, making his avatar increasingly stronger.
Therefore, he lured the Empire’s geniuses here and arranged for them to battle with Mogara’s avatar.
Each time an avatar of Mogara was slain, its corresponding bodily tissue would be destroyed, reducing Mogara’s source power by a fraction.
The facts proved his plan to be successful.
Even though some geniuses perished beneath the claws of the avatars, the remaining people teamed up to destroy a great portion of Mogara’s bodily tissues, severing his power supply.
This is why he and the Four Divine Beasts seemingly appeared to be at a disadvantage, yet always remained calm—it was because they relied on the energy support from the Divine Artifact Domain to consistently maintain their strength, slowly wearing down Mogara’s avatar.
But he never expected Mogara to have a backup plan.
The other side somehow evaded the array lock of the Divine Artifact Domain and directly invoked the power of the Demon Heart at the core of the seal.
Now that this avatar has received the Demon Heart’s empowerment, its combat power is overwhelming. If they cannot withstand it, the avatar will unite with the Demon Heart inside and out, completely breaking the seal of the Frozen Throne.
By then, not only would they perish here, but the peace that the Ice God Race secured at the cost of near-annihilation would also collapse completely.
Lan looked up at the increasingly solidifying demonic aura in the sky and glanced at the rapidly spreading black cracks below, a determined look surfaced in his cold eyes.
“Qin Tian.”
At this moment, Ji Taiyan looked at Qin Tian, his steady voice echoing in his mind.
“Use your Spatial Ability to take everyone away.”
The situation had deteriorated to an irreparable extent, staying here would only mean a dead end.
Qin Tian looked at Ji Taiyan and slowly shook his head. “Your Highness, it’s too late.”
He raised his hand to point at the sky as everyone followed his gaze.
The previously grey dome was now completely shrouded by a thick, ink-like black fog, like a giant overturned cauldron, sealing the entire treasure space tightly.
Qin Tian’s spatial perception spread out only to touch a dead silent “barrier.”
All spatial nodes were locked by demonic energy. The spatial rift that could easily be opened in the past was now sturdier than ten-thousand-year-old black iron.
With his abilities, breaking through the spatial barrier by force would take a certain amount of time, but the enemy overhead wouldn’t give them the chance.
Boom—
The ice mountains quaked violently once more as a figure engulfed in black energy shot straight out of the ice crevice toward the sky, finally stopping beside Mogara’s avatar, looking down on everyone below.
He hovered mid-air, his robes fluttering as his once fair and handsome face was now covered in web-like black Demon Patterns. The patterns spread from his jawline down to his neck, merging with the black mist emanating from his entire body. His eyes were hollow, unsettling to behold.
As everyone looked up, many recognized his identity and immediately exclaimed,
“That’s Jiang Mobai, how did he become like this?”
Ji Taiyan looked at Jiang Mobai, his tone heavy:
“He’s been controlled.”
The Mogara avatar in the sky slowly raised his hand, and the demonic aura within Jiang Mobai surged out like a flood from a breached dam, transforming into a pitch-black torrent that entirely poured into Mogara’s body.
Without the support of the demonic aura, Jiang Mobai’s body withered at a visible rate—his originally fair skin lost its luster and quickly became shriveled like tree bark, his once upright figure shrank into a ball, eventually dropping from the sky like a chunk of dried-out firewood.
“Dongfang Qi?”
Ji Taiyan looked toward Dongfang Qi, the renowned healer from the Holy Blood Clan within the Empire.
Dongfang Qi sensed Jiang Mobai’s breath and shook his head.
It’s hopeless.
Absorbing all of Jiang Mobai’s demonic aura, the Mogara avatar’s momentum soared like a tsunami. The black aura condensed into solid scales as Black Wings unfolded, overshadowing the sky, his crimson eyes sweeping over the Four Divine Beasts, full of icy killing intent.
“Young Master, we can’t wait any longer.”
At this moment, White Xiong suddenly spoke, his voice transmitting to Lan and the other three Divine Beasts.
“The sacrifices of the Ice God Race cannot be in vain, leave the rest to us.”
Upon hearing this, Lan’s expression slightly changed, but the other Divine Beasts all calmly nodded.
Indeed, after thousands of years of guarding and waiting, they were long weary of such a life.
If they could repay Mogara’s suppression with their death, fulfilling their duty would undoubtedly be a blessing to them.
