Chapter 305: An Unfinished Business!
Li Yun leaned back slightly, his posture still casual despite the weight of the warning.
“Peak Lords,” he said calmly, “don’t worry too much about it. I know when to stand out and when to not. I will keep your words in heart but that didn’t mean I would cower. If worst comes to worst, I will just kill whoever wants to kill me.”
The mountain-robed Peak Lord burst into loud laughter.
“Good! This brat has spirit.”
Even the sword-cloud Peak Lord’s lips curved faintly in amusement.
Shen Ming, however, only shook his head with a faint smile.
“You truly are troublesome.”
The trace of amusement soon faded from his face, and seriousness returned to his expression.
“I did not summon you here merely to praise you, nor only to discuss what happened at the Tea Ceremony, Li Yun.”
His gaze settled firmly on Li Yun.
“I called you here because we are departing soon for Hidden Dragon Island, and we want you to come with us.”
The room fell silent.
The two Peak Lords at Shen Ming’s side looked toward Li Yun with calm expectation, as though they already believed no disciple in the Martial Ascension Gate would ever reject such an opportunity.
After all, Hidden Dragon Island was no ordinary destination.
Li Yun had heard of it long ago. It was one of the most famous trial lands in the Southern Martial Domain, a place where ranked geniuses gathered. It was where the Hidden Dragon Tournament was held every few years and this year would be no exception either.
To many disciples, even hearing its name stirred longing.
Yet Li Yun’s thoughts immediately moved elsewhere.
Sword Saint County still held unfinished matters for him. More importantly, he still had a task that had not been completed. He had to go to Yin Cloud Mountain to first take care of the Blood Zombie General and retrieve the method to condense killing intent from killing intent seed from him.
The Five Elemental Cultivation Method was also somewhere in the Yin Cloud Mountain and Li Yun needed to find that too.
Until these things were settled, Li Yun had no intention of leaving the county.
Li Yun raised his head and answered honestly.
“Peak Lord Shen Ming, this disciple understands the value of Hidden Dragon Island.”
He paused briefly before continuing.
“However, I still have a matter to settle in Sword Saint County. Until that task is completed, I cannot leave.”
The mountain-robed Peak Lord frowned at once.
“You would delay Hidden Dragon Island over some personal business?”
His tone carried clear dissatisfaction.
The sword-cloud Peak Lord narrowed his eyes as well.
“Do you understand that the Hidden Dragon Tournament will be held there in three months of time? Right?”
Li Yun nodded calmly.
“I do.”
“Then why hesitate?” the mountain-robed lord asked sharply.
Li Yun’s expression remained steady.
“Because I have an unfinished business here. Unless I complete that business, I can’t leave the Sword Saint County.”
His voice was respectful, yet unwavering. He was not asking permission. He was stating his decision.
The two Peak Lords exchanged a glance. Very few disciples would speak so directly after receiving an invitation of this level. Most would have accepted immediately, fearing the opportunity might vanish if they delayed even a moment.
Yet Shen Ming did not become angry.
Instead, he leaned back slightly and gave a short laugh.
“Fine. I will give you two weeks.”
Li Yun’s eyes sharpened slightly.
Shen Ming continued in an even tone.
“Whatever matter you have in Sword Saint County, settle it within two weeks.”
“After that, you will leave with us for Hidden Dragon County and enter Hidden Dragon Island and start preparing for the Hidden Dragon Tournament.”
His words were calm, but the final sentence carried the authority of a Peak Lord. There was no room left for bargaining.
Li Yun considered it in silence for a moment.
Two weeks was enough. If all went well, he could complete his business in Sword Saint County, make further preparations, and still depart in time.
He then rose slightly from his seat, cupped both fists, and bowed.
“I understand. I will complete my task within two weeks.”
Shen Ming nodded with clear satisfaction.
“Good.”
The other two peak lords clearly showed dissatisfaction but seeing Shen Ming agreed to Li Yun, they didn’t say much.
“Go ahead and leave for now,” Peak Lord Shen Ming said with a faint smile. His voice carried a relaxed tone, yet the authority behind it remained impossible to ignore.
“I expect to see you again in two weeks. If you fail to appear, then do not blame me when I personally drag you to Hidden Dragon Island myself.”
The chamber grew lighter for a moment as restrained laughter spread among those present. Even the two other Peak Lords revealed traces of amusement.
Shen Ming had spoken casually, but everyone understood there was truth behind the joke. If Li Yun truly vanished, Shen Ming would not hesitate to seek him out in person.
Li Yun rose from his seat and cupped both fists respectfully.
“This disciple understands.”
He bowed once toward Shen Ming and then toward the other two Peak Lords before turning to leave. His steps were steady and unhurried as he passed through the elegant residence reserved for the Martial Ascension Gate inside the Boulder Inn.
Although his expression remained calm, his thoughts were anything but idle.
There was one matter he had intentionally kept hidden from the three Peak Lords. He had said nothing about Mo Xuanyu, the Peak Lord of Earth Pillar Peak, who had previously attempted to kill him after he left the sect.
Li Yun understood very clearly what would happen if he exposed that matter now. The sect would launch an investigation. Mo Xuanyu would likely be stripped of his position, punished publicly, and disciplined in some formal manner to preserve the sect’s dignity.
But none of that satisfied Li Yun.
Removing a title was not enough.
Issuing punishment was not enough.
Even imprisonment would not be enough.
Mo Xuanyu had crossed into a life-and-death grudge the moment he personally moved to kill a fellow disciple under his authority.
In Li Yun’s eyes, such a man was not merely corrupt. He was a hidden rot within the Martial Ascension Gate, a poisonous tumor that would continue spreading if left alive.
Li Yun did not want him embarrassed.
He wanted him erased completely.
Some debts could be handed to others.
This one would be collected personally.
By the time Li Yun stepped out of the Boulder Inn, the sky above Sword Saint County had already darkened into evening.
Rows of lanterns glowed across the streets, casting warm light over stone roads crowded with merchants, cultivators, noble carriages, and wandering experts. Voices overlapped from every direction while the scent of food, wine, incense, and spirit herbs drifted through the air.
Behind him, the Boulder Inn still towered over the district like a colossal mountain of carved stone. Even at night, its terraces and upper halls shone with hundreds of lights, making it resemble a giant spirit fortress in the center of the city.
Li Yun glanced back once before turning away.
He still had many matters to handle in Sword Saint County, and time would pass quickly over the next two weeks. Yet before doing anything else, there was something he had wanted to check since the chaos at Heaven Dew Peak ended.
A faint grin slowly appeared on his face.
He had fought ranked geniuses, humiliated powerful enemies, shaken the reputations of major forces, and nearly caused war between sects. If the system rewarded chaos properly, then today’s harvest should be enormous.
Li Yun walked toward a quieter side street where the noise of the main road faded into the distance. He stopped beneath the shadow of a tall wall, focused inward, and called upon the familiar interface within his mind.
His eyes gleamed with anticipation.
“Let me see,” he muttered softly to himself.
“How much EXP did I farm from the Tea Ceremony?”
