Lord of Prayer - Chapter 249 181: Aspiration of the Blue Clouds

The three minutes ended quickly, and the materialized “Narcissism” Avatar vanished into thin air.
Zhou Chen glanced at the Emotional Outburst Gloves on his left hand and couldn’t help but feel eager to try again.
It was like getting a new video game console; not playing with it thoroughly would be a tremendous waste. Besides, he wasn’t planning on using Emotional Outburst during tonight’s operation, as it would expose his identity. While he himself didn’t really care, it would definitely cause trouble for Li Xiye and the Li Family. He would only use it as an absolute last resort.
So…
‘One more time!’
Zhou Chen used Emotional Outburst again, summoning his Emotion Avatar.
The Avatar summoned this time didn’t say a word after appearing. It walked straight to the rocking chair in the back Garden, lay down comfortably, stretched, closed its eyes, and just fell asleep.
“…”
Zhou Chen scratched his head.
To be fair, the Li Family’s back Garden was sunny and filled with the songs of birds and the fragrance of flowers. The various plants were vibrant and full of life. It really was a great place for a nap. He’d had the thought of sleeping here several times, just to enjoy a moment of quiet serenity by himself.
The emotion materialized this time was “slacking off,” or “laziness.” It was the emotion that most loved to goof off, so it naturally inherited his desire to nap here. That’s why it immediately lay down after appearing.
“Don’t sleep, get up and let’s have some fun.”
Zhou Chen conveyed the thought, but it vanished without a trace, like a stone cast into the sea.
The feeling was like forcing yourself to get up in the morning when most of your consciousness is still shrouded in sleepiness. The moment you close your eyes, you’re back in dreamland, with only a few threads of lucid will telling you to wake up. But compared to the overwhelming drowsiness, that tiny bit of clarity is obviously no match. After a moment’s struggle, you fall soundly asleep again.
The “Slacker” Avatar was the equivalent of that overwhelming drowsiness, while Zhou Chen’s thought was the tiny bit of clarity. No matter how he called out, the Slacker Avatar snored away, as if it hadn’t heard a thing, completely unmoved.
“How can you be asleep? At your age, at this stage of your life, how can you possibly be sleeping?”
Zhou Chen went over and gave it a couple of shoves, but the Emotion Avatar was still sleeping like a dead pig.
‘Er, it’s a bit inappropriate to describe myself, or a part of myself, like that…’
‘But it really is dead to the world.’
‘Such enviable sleep quality.’
‘This Emotion Avatar has no combat ability to speak of. Maybe I could use it as a scapegoat to take a fatal blow?’
An Emotion Avatar that just plays dead the moment it appears would obviously have zero combat power. Its only use would probably be as a meat shield.
‘So, choosing the right emotion is crucial. Which emotions would be the strongest in combat? Anger? Passion? Justice? Or even… Evil?’
After three minutes, the Emotion Avatar dissipated. Zhou Chen thought for a moment and decided to try one more time.
But this time, he was going to specify the emotion.
First, he used the process of elimination. “Anger” and “Evil” were the first to go. Who knew what kind of stupid things he might do in a state of extreme Anger? And “Evil” was obviously not a “good emotion”; it represented the darkest side of a person, the collection of all malicious thoughts.
“Passion” felt like an untamed wild horse that he might not be able to control.
After thinking it over, Zhou Chen felt that “Justice” should be easy to reason with.
“I wish for the next Emotion Avatar summoned by Emotional Outburst to be ‘Justice’!”
After making the wish, Zhou Chen activated Emotional Outburst, and the Justice Avatar materialized before him.
Its face was filled with stern righteousness, its brow brimming with a sense of noble purpose. It radiated a faint golden light, as if trimmed with a golden edge, giving it a sacred aura. It looked like a Saint Child or a Holy Spirit from some Church, walking the mortal realm.
“My Power is at about eighty percent of the original body’s, and my other Abilities are the same as the ‘Narcissism’ one… It seems none of the Clones can reach one hundred percent of the original’s power.”
The Justice Avatar clenched its fist, feeling its Power. “However, if I encounter evil, my Power will increase, because I am an ally of justice!”
“Eighty percent is more than enough… Speaking of which, what do you most want to do right now?” Zhou Chen asked curiously. To put it bluntly, the Clones were materialized emotions, so the things they wanted to do were things he subconsciously wanted to do himself.
For example, what the “Slacker” Avatar wanted to do was sleep in the back Garden—to slack off forever and enjoy a life of endless, comfortable rest.
“To hunt down all those instigators of conflict online and make them face the judgment of justice. Then, to eliminate all the real-world villains who bully the weak and exploit the oppressed. And after that… and after that… to ultimately purge all sin from the world, eradicate all injustice, and enact true justice.”
As it spoke, the Justice Avatar’s expression was solemn and dignified, and it emanated a holy light, sacred and inviolable.
“Such lofty ideals. That’s me, all right,” Zhou Chen applauded.
When the three minutes were up, the Justice Avatar vanished like smoke.
‘Hmm… the “Justice” Emotion Avatar is exceptionally strong, much better than that embarrassing “Slacker.” I can regularly summon it to do the dirty work for me in the future. Once I have a plan, I can try out other emotions…’
Zhou Chen walked over to the rocking chair, lay down, and closed his eyes to enter Meditation, waiting for the Forbidden Object’s side effect that would occur in an hour—the random amplification of a certain emotion.
He wanted to test just how much the emotion would be amplified.
An hour later, his alarm went off. Suddenly, an indescribable and immense feeling of depression washed over Zhou Chen.
‘This is…’
‘It’s emo hour!’
‘The feeling isn’t too intense. If I force myself to cheer up, it’s manageable. I wonder what other emotions would be like. I should probably just choose to be immune during a fight…’ As the thought flashed through his mind, Zhou Chen had already opened his playlist and started playing some heart-wrenching songs, letting the mood take over as he sank into his depressive state.
