Lord Shadow - Chapter 1997 1997: Dislocation of Time and Space

There is only the sound of the wind on the top of the mountain. And there is only three figures on the top of the mountain

Three powerful figures in the world, two of them are the highest ruler of the great powers and the other one is a person who could stir the situation of the world with just a few words

Death Monarch is observing Erika. And Erika…..she is also observing Azief. Observing Death Monarch, the future God of Death

Erika looks at Azief right now and what she sees is a raging tiger.

The more vulnerable he is, the more he is prone to do drastic things. Erika knows her fate. But fate is always subject to change. She knows this better than anyone else

Erika sighed before she answers Azief question. The silence between these two is long but they do not forget what they are asked and Erika has her own answer.

“Odin is connected to Borgan. I suppose you know who Borgan is? After all, we two are also connected by this”

And she smiles saying this. Azief only harrumphed as she continues her words

“Borgan grace showers all of clairvoyants in every Universe. It is not surprising that Odin would find me”

Azief snorted.

He found the excuse flimsy. He would sooner believe a forked tongue snake words than Erika words right now.

This is just her trying to distract him and changing the matter. Is Erika the only Oracle in the world?

Is Erika the only one that could bear the responsibility of planting a tree?

There are others

But Odin chose her. Either Odin is favoring her because of something, or Odin is giving him some clues and hints and might even use Erika to guide him.

Telling him there is something wrong with this Oracle.

But Azief also did not know how to say this and how to prove this.

After all, this is just his feelings.

He really did not know whether this was the truth or not

So, he could only snort.

“Did Odin told you what to do?”

“He came to in a dream just now”

Azief eyes narrow and he looks at Katarina and Katarina nodded. While he was unconscious, Katarina became his eyes and ears

The fact she nodded meant she must have witnessed something to make her confident. Though, Erika does not have a reason to lie at this moment

Katarina put down the tea and walked to Azief and told him what happened by whispering it to him and then Azief nodded

“What did the One-Eyed God said?”

“There is no need to be anxious. Let’s go see the tree”

And so Azief and Erika walk to the other side of the mountain.

As Azief walked along the mountain, he could feel that his energy is becoming even purer

No, that is not the right way to describe it.

After all, Azief energy has always been pure.

He walks the path of Etherna and there is no purer energy than the energy that is cultivated by Etherna

If he is to describe this feeling, it is like his energy is being cleansed.

And one thing is clear.

That foggy feeling that affected his mind does not affect him that much as he is walking on top of this mountain.

“The effect of the tree?” he thought to himself

Only that would explain it.

Before, even though he was showing off in front of Katarina, teleporting around the whole world and pretending like everything was fine, he could feel the aching headaches and the energy inside his body threatening to go out of control.

Now, however, it is calm, like a tranquil lake.

As he was thinking of this, they arrived and Azief saw the tree. The tree is large and tall. It reaches the clouds. But that was not the amazing thing about this tree.

After all, it si not like Earth lacks tall and large trees.

There are many such trees.

And compared to those tree, this tree is not that large, nor that tall

Yet, there is one thing that differentiates this tree from others.

And that is the life energy it emits and emanates.

Around the trees, all life seems to prosper.

The grass is thicker and full of magic energy and the stream of water flowing around the roots seems to possess this life energy inside it.

Azief believes that if one drinks from that water, for a mortal, it would grant long lifespan and youth and cleanses all impurities and give health.

In a world without magic, it would not be an exaggeration to call it a place which could grant someone immortal lifespan and immortal youth

To a mortal, this would be something to kill for.

After all, a lifespan of a few thousand years might seem like forever.

But those who reached his realm know that there is weight in terms and words like forever and infinity.

For beings below Disk Formation, it would purify the body and bathing in it could probably refine the body.

This is just his feeling, but Azief believes that if he tested this water, this effect would be revealed.

This is what made this tree different from others

The amount of life force emanating from it.

It is unlike any other.

Azief came closer.

This is the tree, he thought.

He did not have to use magic to ascertain it.

This life force emanating from it is proof enough

Azief then tried to remember something.

The recipe.

But no matter how much he tries to remember he could not remember. Erika sees Azief frowning.

Katarina was about to ask when Erika beat her to it

“What are you worried about, Death Monarch?” Azief looks at Erika and then sighs

“Did The One-Eyed God tell you anything else?”

Erika closes her eyes for a second and then she smiles as she sees something.

She opens back her eyes and her smile becomes wider

“You mean the recipe?”

Azief was about to ask how she knew he was going to ask her that but then he remembers…. Erika is an Oracle.

She sees the future. If even the distant future is not an obstacle for her, why would a few minutes into the future become any hindrance

Azief nodded

Since he already wanted help, he would ask for it until the help is fully given. If he is to owe her, then it is better to owe her completely.

“You forgot, didn’t you?”

Azief nodded

Erika frowned.

“hmm”

Dislocation of time and space.

One of the symptoms is none other than loss of memories.

Of course, that is not all.

Lifespan would also be affected.

Each time one suffers from it, lifespan would be deducted.

The lifespan feeds the disease. Or to be more accurate, the lifespan neutralizes the dislocation and after enough lifespan is consumed, the effect would wore off

But what Azief experiences is not dislocation of space and time. What he experienced is something else entirely.

“A cause and effect that even the Veil is afraid to look at is something beyond my ability”

Even Erika did not dare to peek behind the Veil to understand the cause and effect of this matter.

It is not that she doesn’t try.

The moment Odin enters her mind and her dreams, meeting her at the Veil, he warns her not to peek at the cause and effect of this matter

Of course, Erika is always the disobedient one, try to.

But even before she could even try, she felt a deadly premonition inside her heart, and she stopped just right before she came close to the veil

She knows then that whatever beings that is on the other side of the “cause” is a being she could not provoke.

A being so powerful that the Veil itself seems to shake just by trying to think of finding “it”

Erika, in her memories, has never had such reaction whether in the present or in the other future.

It is a being she did not know.

She thought she had known all the players. She thought she knew the layout of the chessboard

It seems that the last time they played on this chessboard some beings did not actually play.

Things now had changed.

Then does that mean there is new player and new chess pieces on the chess boards? Eriak doesn’t know.

But she would have time to think about it. After this, she should make a pilgrimage to distant star.

She has been on earth for too long.

And now, the world is stable.

With the Seven World powers, even if there is war, there would not be a war that would threaten Earth.

For anything big to happen, Azief first have to become Sovereign.

And for the other six to become Sovereign one by one.

Seven hundred years give or take. She had seven hundred years, maybe more if the star system she goes on have different time

Though, now is not the time to think about such things

Erika then looked at Katarina.

Then she looks back at Azief.

Azief understands what Erika is implying but he shook his head

“She’s fine”

“If you say so” Erika paused for a second and close her eyes.

And her energy seems to rises and the area around her seems to experience time distortion.

Azief on the other hand perceives something different. And he sees something different that others could not see and he could not help but sigh

“This kind of network is really terrifying”
