Whoosh!
Now knowing not to allocate all of his attention towards the structure from the get-go, Valyr split off a small part of his focus towards its smallest segment, resulting in a small trickle of information coursing through his mind a few seconds later.
Though he sensed that the amount of information being sent his way was still far from his limit, the young man decided to get used to it first as he filtered out all of the information from the trickle that he did not need.
Then, once he felt like he had removed most of the unnecessary information, he separated the remaining information into two piles, saving the information related to Void Energy for later as he absorbed and processed the ones related to Shadow Energy.
At the very moment he began to assimilate his first few bits of knowledge related to Shadow Energy, Valyr immediately felt his knowledge and understanding of the concept improve by a certain degree.
Feeling a sense of accomplishment after it, he continued to assimilate more and more bits of information into his mind, integrating the step into the entire process he had devised so far.
Eventually, by the time he had formed a rough step-by-step process of what he needed to do, the young man had grasped what he felt was the base level of understanding one needed to have in order to make full use of Shadow Energy.
Then again, compared to the understanding other people had towards the same concept, his level of understanding was already enough for others to consider him as an expert on the matter.
‘It feels like I’ve barely scratched the surface,’ muttered Valyr to himself after reaching this point. ‘Yet, at the same time, I feel like I’ve gained so much information on Shadow Energy already.’
Staring at the large structure ahead of him once more, the young man could not help but let out a faint sigh.
‘If the smallest segment of the structure already contains this much information on Shadow Energy, then how about the other segments?’
‘…How about the information all of them contain on Void Energy?’
Realizing that his train of thought had gone on a downward spiral, Valyr shook his head for a bit as he discarded the unnecessary thoughts that were beginning to surface in his mind.
Then, reminding himself the reason why he was in the Void Core in the first place, he took in a deep breath to compose himself before continuing where he left off.
…
Whoosh!
“He’s finally made contact with the Void Core.”
Sensing that Valyr’s body had begun to give off the feeling that he had become one with the Void Core, a faint smile appeared on Xervei’s face.
“How far do you think he’ll go?” Looking at the young man’s current state with a bit of interest, Florentine looked at her nephew as she asked him a question.
“Depends.” In response, the man just shrugged. “All we know about him is his current level of strength, as well as the fact that he had pushed his Prime Azure Energy to make use of energies at the 2nd Firmament.”
“Of course, considering which of the two is more important with regards to his results in the Void Core, then it would naturally be the second one,” he continued. “Then again, there’s still the possibility of him just grasping both Arcana and Void Energy through sheer luck.”
Florentine shook her head at those words. “I don’t feel like his achievement there is based on luck. His control over Prime Azure Energy is so natural that it’s near impossible for it to be the case.”
“Near impossible… but never zero,” said Xervei in return, his gaze still on the young man at the center of the barrier. “Either way, him making contact with the Void Core within the first minute already tells me that he’ll make considerable gains once it’s over.”
“You think he has a shot at comprehending the entire Void Core?” asked the former, a faint hint of anticipation appearing on her face.
“I’d say at least two-thirds of the Void Core,” answered the man after giving it a bit of thought. “From the energy he’s giving off right now, it seems like he’s started comprehending the Void Core from the very basics.”
“Though this would allow him to form an unshakable foundation, in terms of how much he’d get out of the Void Core in the short term…”
Whoosh!
Just as Xervei was voicing out how he wasn’t confident that Valyr would gain much from the opportunity, the latter’s aura became stronger all of a sudden, causing both Xervei and Florentine to look at the young man with incredulity.
If the feeling the young man gave them earlier was him being one with the Void Core, then the feeling they felt from him now was him extending this connection towards the Shadowsource.
“…Well shit.” Sensing this change, the man watching this all unfold clicked his tongue before looking at Florentine in slight annoyance.
“It seems you’ve made the right choice this time around.”
“We may have just found the third person that might take Her path.”
…
Oblivious to what was going on outside the Void Core, Valyr had allocated most of his attention towards its smallest segment as he continued to deepen his understanding of Shadow Energy.
After reaching a base level of understanding over the concept, the young man felt like he had both taken multiple steps forward while also just taking the first steps on what seemed to be a long path ahead of him.
However, that feeling only lasted for a brief moment as he tried to allocate more of his attention towards the structure in front of him.
Though he faced a bit of difficulty in handling a greater influx of information at first, the young man was eventually able to adapt to it, keeping up the step-by-step process he had created in order to maximize his gains in the Void Core.
Realizing that he’d face a similar obstacle if he were to get comfortable in his current state, the young man opted to slowly push himself towards his limits, spending almost two weeks in the process.
Nevertheless, those two weeks were enough to deepen his knowledge and understanding of Shadow Energy by leaps and bounds.
At this point, he was confident that his knowledge on it was enough to deem him a sage of sorts towards the concept.
Of course, if he were to extend this perspective towards both Void Energy and Abyssal Energy, then his knowledge as a whole was still a mere drop in the bucket.
‘I’ve more or less reached my limit for the meantime,’ muttered Valyr to himself, feeling a slight strain weigh down on his mind the moment he came up with these words.
‘At my current pace, I feel like I’d be able to understand everything about Shadow Energy within the smallest segment in a couple more months.’
‘Then again, if Meyers were to help me here, that would have cut the time down by a lot,’ he continued, only to shake his head soon after. ‘Too bad he’s focused on deducing Mystic Runes right now.’
‘In any case, as I deepen my understanding over Shadow Energy, something about it begins to stand out.’
Staring at the large structure ahead of him for a brief moment, the young man soon voiced out the question that lingered in his mind.
‘Why… does the structure of Shadow Energy feel similar to the 81 Phases Mana Reformation Scripture?’
