My CEO Husband Has Some Issues - Chapter 2231 - 2233: Gu Linxi vs. Cui Jiangjing

“Can you let go of me now?”
After the people left, Gu Linxi pulled away from him, lifted her head from his embrace, took a step back, and increased the distance between them.
Her ordinary yet extraordinary face showed no signs of excitement as one might expect from someone who had just been rescued from a crisis at the last minute. Her skin, as pale as milk, had only a faint layer of blush, nothing like the rosy flush typical women might have in such situations.
Cui Jiangjing had thought she might be moved, but upon seeing her reaction after letting go, he couldn’t hide his disappointment.
He quickly composed himself, ignoring the paint covering his body, and lazily pouted, “Honey, I just saved you. Did you forget to say something to me…”
Gu Linxi moved the paint bucket not taken away to one side, raised an eyebrow, and looked like she couldn’t be bothered with him, “Like what?”
Cui Jiangjing didn’t care if she acknowledged him or not, he quickly caught up behind her, following closely, a behavior that would definitely make the socialites and actresses in Capital City drop their glasses.
He insisted on standing in front of Gu Linxi, as if afraid she wouldn’t see him.
“Like those martial arts dramas, where the hero descends from the sky to save the heroine, usually the leading lady would tearfully grab the man’s hand and say she wants to marry him. I’m conveniently unmarried, an eligible bachelor, don’t you want to reconsider?”
Ha!
Gu Linxi mercilessly brushed past him, “Don’t forget who got me into this mess. I have a lot to do today, no time to entertain you.”
If it were anyone else giving him such a cold shoulder, Mr. Cui’s young master temper would have flared up. But with Gu Linxi, he only felt a tickling sensation in his heart like it was being scratched by a kitten. He quickly caught up to her and grabbed her hand.
Gu Linxi was forced to stop, still holding the paint bucket. She glanced at him with her sharp, distinct eyes, “What are you doing?”
Cui Jiangjing, with his deep-set eyes, held her tightly, “I’m covered in paint.”
“…”
“I got drenched in paint to help you. You can’t just leave me like this!”
He said it with a righteous confidence.
Gu Linxi noticed his suit, now void of its original color, and his disheveled appearance, which softened her heart. She started to walk ahead, “Fine, come with me then.”
On Cui Jiangjing’s dignified face, a satisfied smile finally appeared. Without needing more urging, he quickly followed.
At the car repair shop, Gu Linxi found an unused towel and tossed it to him, pointing to a faucet nearby, “There’s water over there, wipe the paint off your neck first.”
“That’s it?” He held the lone towel, showing a hint of surprise.
What else do you need?
She first looked puzzled, then explained openly, “There’s nothing else here. Just make do with wiping for now. When I get gasoline on me, I just use a towel to wipe it off. It helps a bit, at least better than nothing.”
Cui Jiangjing looked at the towel in his hand, the concrete gutter, and the row of steel pipe faucets she pointed to, and couldn’t help but smile wryly. It really was a “better than nothing” solution.
Though he said so, he still took the towel and went over to wipe his face and neck.
Gu Linxi watched as the tall man rolled up his sleeves, bent over, and turned on the faucet to wash the paint off. She pressed her lips together, her eyes darkening, picked up the phone she had left on the table before going out, found a quiet corner, and made a call.
