- Chapter 174 114: Jiangg Yao's First Time Fishing, and a Tour of the Reef Beach with Chen Yuan

Driving along Central Street, they were only five hundred meters from their destination. After turning a corner, the huge “Yilu Fishing” sign came into view.
The wind was pleasantly cool. Both Chen Yuan and Jiangg Yao were wearing jackets, so they didn’t feel the slightest chill.
On the contrary, Jiangg Yao squinted in enjoyment and leaned back in her seat, feeling the wind tangle her hair. The air was incredibly fresh, and she found the sensation absolutely blissful.
‘This is what a real vacation feels like,’ she thought. ‘No worries at all, just the anticipation and excitement of heading to the next spot.’
“I’m surprised, you’re actually a pretty good driver. From now on, you can be my personal chauffeur. I’ll even let you drive my Porsche when we get back.”
“Good? I’m only driving this carefully because I’m a new driver. To be honest, I’m really nervous.”
Chen Yuan didn’t even turn his head as he spoke, his hands gripping the steering wheel in concentration. His expression was exceptionally serious.
It was as if he expected a monster to pop out on the wide, flat road at any second, forcing him to slam on the gas and flee with Jiangg Yao.
He was that nervous.
This perfectly matched Chen Yuan’s state of mind. Even if there were no monsters on the road, there was no guarantee an old man or a child wouldn’t pop out of nowhere. The slightest accident would lead to endless regret.
HUMMM—
The small, exquisite car finally came to a steady stop in front of the shop.
Jiangg Yao pushed open the door and stepped onto solid ground. She bounced on her feet, looking incredibly excited as she urged him on, “Hurry, hurry! Let’s go pick out some fishing rods! I’m going to get a super awesome one. Maybe I’ll catch a shark today!”
“Jiangg Yao… there are no sharks near the coast! Even if there were, the two of us would never be able to reel one in. We’d be lucky if it didn’t drag *us* into the sea.”
“Huh!? No sharks?” Jiangg Yao blinked, confused. ‘In the videos I watched, they just cast the hook, and a huge fish would bite a moment later.’
‘One cut, and bam—the fish was on the line.’
‘It didn’t look hard at all!’
The two walked into the shop, whispering to each other. They stayed close, looking as intimate as any other young couple.
“Can we catch tuna, then?” Jiangg Yao asked curiously.
“Definitely not. The fish in shallow water aren’t very big.”
“Oh…” Jiangg Yao was a little disappointed. “Then what are we going to catch?”
“We’ll find out when we get there. We might not even catch any seaweed,” Chen Yuan said, gently patting her head as he pushed open the shop door.
The moment they stepped inside, however, they attracted an unusual amount of attention.
A bell on the door chimed.
The woman at the front desk had short hair and looked to be in her thirties, wearing light makeup. She stood up to greet the customers politely as they entered, but as they drew closer…
The woman froze for a second.
‘The girl in the lead… she was gorgeous. Her aura was incredible. You could tell at a glance that her features were superior—not the kind of beauty piled on with makeup, but a natural foundation that was almost too good to be believed.’
‘From her facial features to her tall, slender figure… in all her time seeing customers, she’d never met anyone so breathtaking.’
‘And on top of that, the clothes she was wearing were from a luxury brand.’
‘The woman’s intuition was sharp. This had to be a young lady from a prominent family, probably visiting Sanya on vacation.’
“Hello, miss. Do you have a reservation?” the shop owner asked.
Other customers were in the shop as well—some picking out fishing rods, others sitting around cracking melon seeds and chatting. There were quite a few of them, mostly middle-aged men over forty.
They all looked over, their eyes filled with the same stunned admiration.
Jiangg Yao truly was that beautiful; she would stand out in any crowd.
“Oh, we do!”
It was Chen Yuan who spoke up. He stepped forward and held out his phone to show the owner their order.
The owner’s eyes glanced at the phone, but then lingered on Chen Yuan’s face for a long moment. She froze again, her expression going blank.
‘After being captivated by Jiangg Yao, she hadn’t paid much attention to the young man behind her. Only now did she realize how striking *he* was! He had to be around six feet tall and looked just like one of those “campus heartthrob” types you see in short videos.’
‘He had a youthful but distinct handsomeness, and his presence felt as refreshing as a spring breeze.’
“Is something wrong? Is there a problem with the order?” Jiangg Yao asked, giving the owner a curious glance before tilting her head back to look at Chen Yuan.
“It’s… it’s correct!”
The owner snapped out of it, her face flushing beet red in an instant. She quickly looked away and started typing on her computer before calling out toward a room off the main hall.
“Chichi! You have an order!”
“Hey, coming!”
A moment after the reply, a round-faced girl with a high ponytail walked out. She was quite pretty and looked at Jiangg Yao and Chen Yuan.
“You must be Mr. Chen, right?”
“That’s me.”
“Wow, you’re so young! I’m Chichi, your premium fishing guide,” Chi Yu said with a brilliant smile, extending her hand. “I’ll be the one guiding you through your Sanya reef fishing experience today.”
“Yaoyao.” Jiangg Yao stepped past Chen Yuan to shake her hand.
That one subtle movement was all it took for the shop owner and Chi Yu to understand.
‘So they really are a couple!’
Chi Yu didn’t seem to mind. After a brief pause, she said warmly, “Come on, I’ll take you to pick out your rods. Your package lets you choose any type we have in the shop, with no limit on quantity.”
“Don’t we pick them out here in the main room?”
“No, the best rods are kept in the storeroom. Most of them aren’t for sale.”
Chen Yuan nodded, his eyes lighting up. ‘There really are perks to spending more money,’ he thought. ‘The most expensive fishing rod I’d ever used cost only fifty yuan.’
‘And I used that one for two years.’
‘Every summer, I’d go back to the countryside and fish for crucian carp in the local pond.’
“Is this your first time fishing?”
“First time sea fishing, to be exact.”
“Well then, you might like the ‘girly pink’ rod, miss. We have a few special collaboration models that are super pretty!”
“‘Girly pink’?” Jiangg Yao rubbed her chin thoughtfully before flatly refusing. “A true maiden would obviously choose the most badass rod! Do you have anything mechanical? Or cyberpunk? What about a vintage model?”
“Uh… huh?” Chi Yu stared, dumbfounded.
‘It seemed this beautiful young lady’s personality was not what she’d expected.’
…
“A lot of people come here to fish. This is the best spot in the area. When the sun starts to set, large numbers of shrimp and mollusks gather beneath these reefs, which in turn attracts a lot of predatory fish,” Chi Yu explained, her hair whipping about in the sea breeze. She pointed to a platform a short distance below them. “Look, a lot of anglers have already gathered there.”
Chen Yuan gazed into the distance. There were indeed quite a few people fishing below, each one managing three or four rods, constantly casting and reeling in their lines. The whole scene was a hive of activity.
The wind whipped up the sea, sending white-capped waves crashing against the rough coastal reefs. The fierce assault was relentless, with the highest splashes reaching the anglers’ feet.
The weather was overcast, but it was the perfect time for fishing.
The three of them had run most of the way, but far from feeling tired, Jiangg Yao could barely contain her excitement at the sight. The joy on her face was plain to see.
“Wow! This looks so fun! Let’s hurry down and start fishing!”
She had lived her whole life without ever catching a fish with her own hands, though she had certainly eaten plenty of expensive ones.
Yaoyao had always had a keen interest in anything that looked like fun.
It must have been hard for her. Growing up under Jiangg Ruxue’s thumb, she had missed out on so much of the fun life was supposed to offer.
But thankfully, she had met Chen Yuan.
“Let’s head down together. I’ll give you a hand. Watch your step,” Chen Yuan said, taking one of her hands. The two of them followed Chi Yu, carefully making their way down as the damp sea breeze rustled their hair.
In the distance, a red-throated loon spread its gray wings and glided elegantly, gradually melting into the skyline.
With the dark clouds rolling overhead and the waves churning below, the scenery was truly breathtaking.
