- Chapter 183 123: Encrypted Call, a Fated Sleepless Night

“Yeah, the buffering was really obvious when we were trying to watch a movie yesterday. I forced myself through half an episode, but who knew it’d be even worse today? It’s a struggle just to download an app.”
Jiangg Yao dialed the hotel’s front desk to ask about it.
A gentle and patient female voice answered from the other end of the line:
“I’m very sorry, Miss. It might be an issue with the hotel’s construction materials. We’ve had a lot of guests complain about it already, and we’re constantly trying to resolve it.”
“But you’re supposed to be a high-end hotel. Isn’t this an easy thing to fix?”
“Um… It might take some time. Again, I sincerely apologize.”
The staff member sounded sincere, so Jiangg Yao didn’t have the heart to press the issue. She just replied, “Alright,” and decided to let it go.
“Excuse me, Miss, is there something specific you need to do? If it’s for work or entertainment, we might have a solution!”
As the valued guest of a top-tier suite, the staff member didn’t rush to hang up as if she had dodged a bullet. Instead, she actively tried to find a way to help.
“It’s not for work, just for fun. The reception in the hotel is terrible, too. My boyfriend can’t even play a game.”
As she said this, Jiangg Yao gently prodded Chen Yuan with her foot.
He had rolled over and was reading a novel when he felt an odd sensation on his lower back. He reached down and touched Yaoyao’s soft foot, then simply took hold of it and began to gently massage it.
Jiangg Yao immediately felt a tickle, and her cheeks began to flush.
“If the gentleman wishes to play games, you can head to the gaming room within the suite. It has professional-grade equipment.”
“A gaming room? How come I didn’t see one?”
Jiangg Yao froze for a second, then poked her head out to look from the bedroom into the living room.
‘There are only a few rooms here. Where would a gaming room be? The staff member must have made a mistake, right?’
“There is one, Miss. Go to the very back of the walk-in closet and push open the wooden door. You’ll see the gaming room there! All our premium suites and above are equipped with one.”
“Okay, I’ll go check it out right now!”
Yaoyao’s eyes lit up. She threw off the covers and shoved Chen Yuan, who was lying next to her.
“Get… get up! We have something to do now. No more being bored in here.”
“Do what? Don’t tell me we have to go out.”
Chen Yuan didn’t even lift his eyelids, the picture of laziness. He had just gotten to a particularly steamy scene in his novel, and the corner of his mouth curled into a smirk.
He was completely engrossed.
“We’re not going out. Come on, just get up…”
Yaoyao rolled over, sat on top of Chen Yuan, and forcefully pulled him up by his arm.
She pushed the reluctant Chen Yuan all the way into the walk-in closet.
She flipped on the light.
The walk-in closet, fragrant with the scent of fine wood, was instantly illuminated.
“What’s so fun in here? Am I supposed to watch you play dress-up? There aren’t even any clothes.”
“Hold on, let me find it…”
Leaning against a cabinet, Yaoyao felt around inside. She actually found a doorknob, twisted it with a bit of force, and pulled.
The next moment, a pitch-black room was revealed.
Chen Yuan blinked.
“A secret room?”
“No, silly, it’s the gaming room. Go on, take a look…” Yaoyao glanced inside, but the pitch-black darkness, so dark you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face, scared her a little. She retreated to hide behind Chen Yuan.
“Heh, what a scaredy-cat.” Chen Yuan turned to look at the cowering Yaoyao and found it hilarious.
He strode into the gaming room and was immediately swallowed by the darkness. Only the doorway remained illuminated by the light from the walk-in closet; nothing could be seen further inside…
Yaoyao’s brow furrowed.
“Young Master?”
She called out, but there was no answer.
“Young Master! Don’t you scare me… Where’d you go?”
Her voice was tinged with panic, but she still didn’t dare to walk into the room. She just stomped her foot anxiously and kept calling out.
“Chen Yuan! Where are you? Did a monster eat you!?”
Yaoyao crept closer to the doorway and leaned against the frame. She swallowed hard, able to hear her own voice echo back.
But the room remained dead silent. There was no sound other than her echo.
“BOO!”
Chen Yuan suddenly leaped out and grabbed her, deliberately lowering his voice into a monstrous growl. Yaoyao shuddered, and a piercing “AHHH!!!” shriek echoed through the suite. She squeezed her eyes shut, her body completely rigid.
She was frozen in place as if hit by a petrification spell.
“Bwahahahaha,” a hearty laugh rang out.
But in the next second, Yaoyao viciously pinched Chen Yuan’s cheek.
…
“Wow, this gaming room is pretty big. Look at all these snacks! The LED strips are gorgeous, and the chairs are super soft.”
They flipped on the lights.
The entire gaming room came into view.
Yaoyao was quite satisfied. Other than what she considered a bit of light pollution, everything else was perfect.
While girls tend to focus more on aesthetics, guys are completely different. Chen Yuan went straight to the computer and booted it up to check the specs!
Whoa!
That string of little characters was dazzling.
RTX 4090!
‘Playing League on this would be amazing! Wait, no… League doesn’t even need good specs…’
Chen Yuan muttered to himself as he expertly typed in his login info. He’d played a ton during summer vacation, but he’d barely touched any games since school started.
“Playing League? I’ll play too! Oh… it needs an update,” Yaoyao said, following his lead and launching the game.
Her online romance with Chen Yuan had started with a game, one just as ordinary as this.
After they started dating for real, they actually stopped queuing up together like they used to.
Launching it now, the sweet memories of the past came flooding back. It felt like it had all happened so long ago, and she was overcome with a wave of nostalgia.
She remembered sitting at home, timidly putting on her cute, high-pitched voice to talk to Chen Yuan.
She remembered how her heart would THUMP-THUMP shyly after he said something even slightly flirtatious.
She remembered sticking to him like glue, trying her best to find a good position to protect him during chaotic team fights.
She remembered when they were playing co-op, and a mistake on her part made him get so tilted he muted his mic.
So many nights, she had waited in anticipation for a message from him, asking if she wanted to play.
The happiness and sadness, the probing and pretending, the longing and the frustration.
Back then, Yaoyao never imagined the day they’d be sitting side-by-side, playing games together, would come so soon.
It all felt like a dream.
Lost in thought, Yaoyao turned to look at Chen Yuan’s side profile, mesmerized.
…
Late at night, Jiangg Ning found herself so bored that she downloaded a tile-matching game and played for half an hour.
Because she…
…simply couldn’t sleep!
She’d been getting drowsy while writing her thesis this afternoon. One cup of coffee hadn’t worked, so she’d had a few more.
And now, of all times, it was finally kicking in. She closed her eyes, but her mind was wide awake and buzzing.
She couldn’t focus on a book, and her brain ached from working on her thesis. She tried various ways to kill time, but there wasn’t much to do this late at night. It’s not like she could get up, put on a full face of makeup, and then just wash it all off…
That would be way too much effort.
Jiangg Ning listlessly swiped at her screen, her breathtakingly beautiful face completely devoid of expression. After a while, she got bored of the game.
‘She couldn’t help but think how wonderful it would be if Chen Yuan were here with her right now.’
‘When she was with him, time always flew by. She wished she could stretch every second into two just to make it last longer.’
‘And now… what were Yaoyao and Chen up to?’
Jiangg Ning’s mind drifted far, far away. She was only snapped back to reality by her phone’s low battery alert.
‘Maybe… I should send a message and ask!’
‘If Yaoyao’s still awake, we could chat.’
The moment the idea popped into her head, Jiangg Ning immediately opened their chat.
…
PrimProperNingning:
“You two playing games?”
SqueakerYaoyao:
“Yup, but we haven’t started yet. It was sooooo boring tonight. Luckily, the hotel told me about a gaming room, so I dragged Chen Yuan right over. I gotta say, the vibe in here is amazing. Playing games with my Young Master is just the sweetest thing ever~”
PrimProperNingning:
“Hah… Well, have fun.”
…
Jiangg Ning locked her phone, and the expression on her face immediately became a complicated mess.
Her jealousy was a perfect match for her sister’s current happiness.
‘She just couldn’t control her jealousy… How she wished she could take Yaoyao’s place, to be the one sharing that sweet moment.’
‘But the rules couldn’t be broken!’
‘This was Yaoyao’s time, fair and square.’
Jiangg Ning tilted her head back and stared blankly at the ceiling for a while. She was so bored she felt like imitating a goldfish blowing bubbles…
…
PrimProperNingning:
“Ahem—”
SqueakerYaoyao:
“?”
“What is it now?”
“Why aren’t you asleep yet? It’s so late.”
PrimProperNingning:
“I want to sleep, but I drank too much coffee. I’m so bored I could die!”
“Um… little sis~”
“My dearest~ cutest~ most beautifulest little sister in the whole wide world~”
SqueakerYaoyao:
“???”
…
‘What is she on about???’
Inside the gaming room of premium suite 9209, Yaoyao’s eyebrows shot up. Just reading those few lines of text gave her goosebumps.
‘Why is she being so sappy all of a sudden? What does she want?’
‘Something’s definitely up.’
She replied with the sweating-face emoji.
…
PrimProperNingning:
“How about… we all play a game together?”
“I’m just sooooo bored.”
SqueakerYaoyao:
“Are you insane?! Didn’t we agree we can’t show up at the same time?”
“What if Chen Yuan finds out!”
PrimProperNingning:
“You can just… say I’m your friend! It’s not like I’ll be on mic or anything.”
“Come on, I’m begging you, Yaoyao. I really don’t know what else to do.”
SqueakerYaoyao:
“No. This is supposed to be my time. Unless…”
PrimProperNingning:
“Unless what? Spit it out.”
SqueakerYaoyao:
“Unless the next time a situation like this comes up, you let me join in too~ That’s not too much to ask, is it?”
…
Jiangg Ning thought for a moment before agreeing to the condition.
A fair trade. A new clause was added to the sisters’ agreement!
Once they had an agreement, she practically flew out of bed, slipped on her slippers, and scurried over to the gaming room in her own walk-in closet.
「At that very moment.」
「Inside Suite 9209.」
Yaoyao was mentally rehearsing what she was going to say to Chen Yuan, occasionally stealing glances at the Young Master, who was completely focused on the screen.
“Sigh, how come there are so many skins I don’t recognize? What champion is this? Is this the reworked Jax?” Chen Yuan muttered to himself.
「A moment later.」
Yaoyao finished coordinating with Ningning and began to log into her own account.
The moment the client finished loading,
a theatrically surprised voice rang out. Yaoyao placed a hand over her mouth and exclaimed, “Oh my gosh, my bestie is online too! What… what a coincidence!”
“Who’s that?”
Chen Yuan was still lost in the novelty of browsing through all the new game content.
He leaned over to look.
Chen Yuan had no idea he was about to enjoy the outrageously decadent experience of being doted on by two women at once!
