- Chapter 205 136: Visiting an Authoritative Professor

“Anything is fine for dinner. You decide what to make. I’ll probably be back around six, maybe a little after seven.”
「Lanjing.」
Chen Yuan was on a video call with Jiangg Yao from inside an ordinary taxi.
“In that case… I’ll make crab roe tofu. I spent a long time learning how last night, so I’m sure it’ll be a success this time! I’ll also go buy a roast duck, just in case the tofu is too disgusting.”
“Sounds good. Go ahead.”
Chen Yuan looked at Jiangg Yao’s confident face on the screen, a faint smile gracing his lips.
The warmth from his girlfriend briefly washed away his worries.
…
It had been a few days since they returned from Sanya. The seaside trip had greatly deepened their relationship, and now all the awkwardness between them was gone.
They had grown accustomed to each other’s presence.
After building sandcastles on the beach that day, they visited the famous Nanshan Sea Guanyin in the afternoon. The next day, they saw the Yanoda Rainforest and stayed in Houhai Village until evening.
The sky was azure, their steps light.
On their last day, with no desire left for sightseeing, the two of them played video games all day, even eating their meals at the computer desk.
The carefree time flew by in the blink of an eye. Before they knew it, it was time to leave.
Luggage in hand, carrying the precious souvenirs gifted by the hotel, the two rushed to catch an afternoon flight back to Lanjing.
「After getting home.」
They washed off the dust of their journey.
They slept from evening until the next morning, sleeping like the dead.
When they woke up and checked the time on their phones, they couldn’t even tell if it was morning or afternoon.
After returning to Lanjing, their days were exceptionally peaceful. With the end of the year approaching, Chen Yuan only had a few days left before he had to return to his hometown for New Year’s Eve, and he obviously couldn’t take Jiangg Yao with him.
In these last few days before the New Year, the two were inseparable.
Jiangg Yao diligently practiced her cooking every day, while Chen Yuan was busy reading and studying.
It had the strange, harmonious rhythm of married life.
They would play games together at night, watch anime while they ate, and when they were bored, they’d go out for a stroll, visit a cat cafe, or wander through a food street.
On the surface, everything seemed placid.
But in reality, both of them carried an unspoken sorrow in their hearts.
Jiangg Yao was constantly worried about her sister’s situation. Strangely, there was no news, and when Jiangg Ning replied, she did so with only a few cryptic words, telling her not to worry.
But how could Yaoyao not be worried?
She could only maintain a calm facade, but thankfully, Chen Yuan’s company brought her a great deal of warmth.
Chen Yuan, on the other hand, was troubled by his girlfriend’s mental state. He had spoken with Jiang Zhengfeng while in Sanya and heard that a doctor had been found. He couldn’t stop thinking about it at night when he went to sleep these past few days.
Finally, the day of the appointment arrived.
He hastily made an excuse and left.
…
Chen Yuan mentally rehearsed what he would say, thinking that he needed to explain his girlfriend’s specific symptoms clearly and concisely. At the same time, the taxi he was in pulled up to the west entrance of Central Realm Mansion.
“That’ll be 21 yuan, young man. You can just scan the code.”
“Sent. Drive safe, sir.”
“Alrighty!”
THUD—
Closing the car door, Chen Yuan walked away with quick steps.
Jiang Zhengfeng had told him to meet in the office at the very back of the 20th floor. He had also offered to pick him up, but Chen Yuan had directly refused.
It wasn’t a long way, and he really wasn’t some pampered young master.
He could just take a taxi himself.
Chen Yuan reached the entrance and was about to push open the glass door when his gaze fell upon several men in sharp suits standing to the side.
The men were standing nervously by the entrance, having found a spot in the shade. Their leather shoes were polished to a mirror shine, and their oiled hair was meticulously combed.
They looked like they were waiting for someone.
The one who appeared to be the leader kept staring at his watch and glancing toward the street corner from time to time.
The youngest of them had to be at least a dozen years older than Chen Yuan.
‘They must be employees from this building?’ Chen Yuan thought silently as he stepped through the door.
He looked up at the high-domed lobby inside the mansion. A massive chandelier hung directly overhead. To both the left and right were arcing rings that slanted upwards, and several escalators overhead were designed with the same wave-like pattern as the dome.
It had a very aesthetic feel.
Cloud-patterned porcelain tiles covered the entire hall, perfectly complementing the surrounding gray tones.
It exuded a sense of modern sophistication.
Interestingly, the company wasn’t bustling with people coming and going. The space was so empty it felt almost deserted.
Only a single, exceptionally beautiful receptionist was sitting at the front desk, an employee badge hanging from a lanyard around her neck.
“Hello, I’m looking for someone. Where are the elevators?” Chen Yuan approached and asked politely.
The receptionist had the demure beauty of a girl-next-door. Hearing his voice, she abruptly looked up.
When she saw it was a young man, not much older than a boy.
Her expression was one of slight surprise, and her tense look relaxed. After a moment’s pause, she smiled and replied, “May I ask who you’re looking for, sir? Do you have an appointment?”
“No.”
“I’m sorry, but you can’t go upstairs without an appointment.”
“Huh?”
Chen Yuan froze.
‘Didn’t he say everything was already arranged?’
‘How can I not even get upstairs?’
‘Could I have gone to the wrong place?’
“This is the west entrance of Central Realm Mansion, right?”
“That’s right, sir. To be precise, we are Bauhinia Investment Company, located in Central Realm Mansion.”
“Uh, I’m looking for Jiang Zhengfeng.”
“I’m sorry, I don’t know anyone by that name,” the receptionist said, shaking her head.
Chen Yuan frowned. He took out his phone and glanced at the time. It was nearly four-thirty in the afternoon.
