- Chapter 210 139: Jiang Zhengfeng Is Dumbfounded, Twins!? (Part 2)

“Aren’t you getting out?” Chen Yuan asked, looking back at Jiang Zhengfeng, who sat motionless in the car.
“Phone call,” Jiang Zhengfeng said from a distance, holding up his phone through the window. “Give me two minutes. You go on in.”
“So busy… We should have just skipped this meal.”
Chen Yuan muttered, exasperated. He decided not to wait and strode toward the restaurant.
He didn’t even need to look up to know what kind of food the restaurant served.
Every time his dad took him out to eat, it was always for their hometown’s Shandong cuisine. The flavors were savory and fragrant—dishes like sweet and sour fish, braised prawns, spicy chicken, and moo shu pork.
That sort of thing.
‘Maybe I’ll get some takeout for Jiangg Yao later. She’s probably never tried food from my hometown…’ With that thought, Chen Yuan stepped through the door.
…
Jiang Zhengfeng watched Chen Yuan go inside. Then, the car door beside him opened.
A beautiful woman with an oval face and monolids sat down beside him. She wore a business suit and high heels and held a stack of files.
“I found it!”
“Yes… And?”
“It’s a bit complicated, and quite different from what we anticipated. President Jiang, let me walk you through it.”
‘Complicated?’
Jiang Zhengfeng furrowed his brow slightly. ‘How complicated could a relationship possibly be? At my son’s age, girls are usually just as immature.’
‘All the drama is just for attention.’
‘Maybe she’s faking sick just to seem more important to him.’
That was what he thought.
He’d asked his assistant to run a background check just to understand the girl’s family situation. As long as they weren’t truly malicious people, Jiang Zhengfeng had no intention of interfering.
‘Falling in love is a wonderful thing.’
‘Let them date!’
Beside him, his assistant opened the file.
“The girl Yuan is dating is the direct-line granddaughter of the Liu Family of Mingzhu City.”
“Which Liu Family?”
“The one in the auction business, Liu Dongfeng!”
“Oh! I remember now. I’ve met him.”
A look of dawning comprehension crossed Jiang Zhengfeng’s face. He was surprised, however; he hadn’t expected her to be from a family of note.
‘The daughter of a prominent family?’
“Correct. You’ve not only met him, you’ve also purchased items from his auction house. Liu Dongfeng had three sons. The eldest, Liu Jing, passed away from an illness twenty years ago. His first wife’s name was Jiangg Ruxue!” The assistant glanced at Jiang Zhengfeng. “Jiangg Ruxue gave birth to two daughters. After the divorce, she had their surnames changed. The elder daughter is Jiangg Ning, and the other is Jiangg Yao.”
Jiang Zhengfeng froze.
“Who did you say?”
“Jiangg Ruxue. That’s right, it’s her. From that huge scandal back in the day. There were rumors she plotted Liu Jing’s death, but they’re only rumors. Currently, Jiangg Ruxue is the chairwoman of a company for a women’s brand in Mingzhu City.”
The assistant’s tone was even and unhurried, showing no trace of emotion.
But Jiang Zhengfeng was a little stunned.
‘Wait, I know her!’
Although he’d never done business with her company, a very polite young woman had come over to introduce herself at a banquet he’d attended in Mingzhu City not long ago.
And he had even asked her about her Q profile.
At this thought, Jiang Zhengfeng remembered, and Jiangg Ning’s face gradually materialized in his mind.
He’d had a very good impression of the young woman at the time.
‘It was her!?’
“Currently, Jiangg Ning is a philosophy professor at Lanjing University—the same university Yuan attends. They are officially in a romantic relationship,” the assistant continued.
“Wait, isn’t she much older than Yuan?”
“Yes, by eight years.”
Jiang Zhengfeng’s sharp instincts told him something was wrong. How could there be such a coincidence?
This Jiangg Ning was the daughter of the infamous “viper,” Jiangg Ruxue. Instead of managing the family business, why would she come to teach at Lanjing University? And of all people, she just had to end up in a relationship with Chen Yuan.
‘It’s a conspiracy.’
“When did she come to Lanjing?”
“A little over two years ago, almost three.”
“That’s not right…”
“President Jiang, are you thinking that this Jiangg Ning deliberately got close to Yuan?”
“It’s possible. And I met her at that banquet and even exchanged a few words. You were handling matters in Kyoto at the time.”
Jiang Zhengfeng’s expression instantly darkened.
Chen Yuan was his only son.
For the vast commercial empire he would one day leave behind, Chen Yuan was the sole legal heir.
With stakes that high, there was more than enough motive for someone to deliberately get close to Chen Yuan.
Besides, Chen Yuan was naive. If he met a woman skilled at deception, it was highly unlikely he could tell whether her feelings were genuine or fake.
The most crucial point was that Jiang Zhengfeng had met Jiangg Ning.
He knew the young woman was exceptional, and beautiful as well.
But there was one thing that confused even Jiang Zhengfeng.
Because before today, he had never revealed anything about Chen Yuan to the public. He had even hired specialists to maintain secrecy. It should have been impossible for anyone to discover that Chen Yuan was his only son.
Jiangg Ruxue simply didn’t have that kind of capability.
‘Or… was someone else backing her?’
He quickly ran through a mental list of all his competitors over the years, their faces flashing through his mind.
He was so lost in thought that he completely forgot about the “mental illness” issue.
But the assistant hadn’t forgotten.
“There’s one more thing that makes this even more complicated…” She took a deep breath, speaking as if the words were difficult to say. “Yuan… actually has two girlfriends.”
“What do you mean?” Jiang Zhengfeng asked, stunned.
“Because Jiangg Ruxue’s two daughters—Jiangg Ning and Jiangg Yao—are identical twins. They look exactly the same. And both of them are in a relationship with Yuan.”
“Huh!?”
That one sentence left Jiang Zhengfeng utterly dumbstruck.
He stared blankly for a long moment before he could process it.
With a look of utter disbelief, he asked, “Are you telling me my son is dating two girls? Two identical girls?”
“It sounds dramatic, but it’s correct. I pulled the accommodation records from Yuan’s trip to Sanya. They went together, but only one of them ever appeared in front of Yuan at a time. To hide that they’re twins, they concocted this flimsy deception. We had the hospital checked—there are no medical records, much less a family history of hereditary disease.”
“Why?” Jiang Zhengfeng was completely bewildered.
He just couldn’t make sense of it.
The situation was far more complex than he could have imagined.
If his initial theory—that this was a deliberate setup—was correct, then having both twins date Chen Yuan was a bizarre move for such a supposedly meticulous plan.
It was practically suicidal!
‘One of them would have been enough.’
His reliable assistant, however, seemed to have it all figured out.
She said calmly, “President Jiang, I don’t think the theory of a deliberate approach holds up!”
“Explain.”
“Because over two years ago, the twin sisters signed a long-term lease in Fengting District, right across from the apartment you rented for Yuan. No one can see the future. Think about it: they crossed paths at the university and in their private lives. It’s perfectly normal for feelings to develop…”
“Such a coincidence? And it’s normal for *both* twins to develop feelings?” Jiang Zhengfeng closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
“Even more so. Because when I saw Yuan at Bauhinia Company today, I have to admit, I also thought…” The assistant bit her lip, her voice fading.
“Say it.”
“I thought he was rather handsome myself. Quite a catch!” the assistant said, clearing her throat. Her cheeks were slightly red, but her tone was serious.
Hearing this, Jiang Zhengfeng pressed a hand to his forehead.
‘What kind of a mess is this…?’
