- Chapter 321 - 215: What a Coincidence, Li Bing Meets Jiangg Yao

She couldn’t even remember what she had bought.
A flurry of activity and two or three trips to haul the packages home left Jiangg Yao drenched in sweat and ready to drop.
She had no memory of placing so many orders. At least eighty percent of them had to be her sister’s! ’It’s my fate to be a beast of burden.’
Tearing open a few at random, she saw that a lot of the clothes were things Ningning had bought for Chen Yuan: sweatshirts, long pants, and scarves for the next season…
’Buying a scarf when winter is already over!’
Jiangg Yao scoffed. ’What value is there in a store-bought scarf? Not like mine, purely hand-knit, which took so, so long to make.’
’Now *that’s* a heartfelt gift.’
Jiangg Yao gathered the packaging trash into a bag, carried it out, and locked her front door again. She went all the way down to the underground garage, threw out the trash, and then got in her car.
“Qingyang Road, Sony flagship store…”
She set the destination in her GPS, muttering to herself:
“Okay, so I should pick up everyone first, then swing by the flagship store to buy the headphones, and finally, we can all go get the gifts together.”
Girls tend to have a lot of group chats. She and Wan were in a social group, mostly made up of Wan’s local Lanjing cosplay friends. Jiangg Yao’s “besties” group was a separate chat, where Wan was an admin.
In real life, Wan was Jiangg Yao’s only true best friend. Her relationships with the others were just okay.
This time, to celebrate Wan’s twenty-seventh birthday, they were all planning a surprise. They would lie in wait at her apartment in the evening. When she got home from work and pushed the door open, they’d flip on the lights, and a few people would rush out from behind the curtains, screaming and shouting! Just thinking about it, Wan was sure to shriek in terror.
But in the end, when she was surrounded by friends holding presents, she would probably feel incredibly touched.
’Maybe this is what it means to have friends.’
Jiangg Yao slowly started the engine and sped off.
「On the way.」
The scenery blurred past.
Before long, she pulled up in front of a takoyaki stand. Two or three girls, who looked pretty even from the back, were gathered around the stall, eating.
“Hey!” Jiangg Yao rolled down her window and waved.
“Oh, Yaoyao, you’re here! Want some takoyaki? I just bought it, it’s still hot.” A girl with a baby face, Ran Yu, turned her head and immediately ran over when she saw her.
“Don’t you dare take my spot in the front. I get carsick,” said another girl, whose long legs were bare despite the winter weather. Her words were muffled by the food in her mouth.
Only the girl next to them, dressed in a white down jacket, didn’t fight for a spot, following quietly behind.
“No thanks, I’m still full from lunch.”
Jiangg Yao casually moved a box of tissues from the passenger seat to let Ran Yu sit down.
However, she was completely unaware of the shock she’d given the quiet girl when she turned, revealing her full profile as she tidied up inside the car.
Li Bing froze on the spot, her steps faltering. She stared at Jiangg Yao in confusion.
The world was full of coincidences.
To explain…
One had to sort out Wan’s social circle.
First, there was Ran Yu. The baby-faced girl was one of the popular maids at a maid cafe. In the past, when Wan said she was going to the cafe to see a friend, that “friend” was her.
After Li Bing started working part-time at the shop, she also quickly built a good relationship with her older colleague, often borrowing cosplay outfits from her.
Through her, she eventually got to know Wan as well.
After all, they were all kind-hearted young people who were a bit socially anxious.
Besides, the cosplay circle in Lanjing was only so big.
Sometime before, Li Bing had also been added to Wan’s Green Bubble group chat. She and Jiangg Yao were in the same group but had never met in person.
Now, she was dumbfounded. Why were Ran and Bai calling the beautiful woman in the car “Yaoyao”? Wasn’t this Jiangg?
’Could it be that Jiangg has a nickname?’
’And she’s into cosplay?’
“Xiaobing, hurry up and get in! We’re going to buy gifts, don’t just stand there dazed.”
Ran Yu’s shout broke her train of thought. Li Bing quickly averted her gaze from Jiangg Yao and silently got into the car, sitting in the back.
THUD—
The car door closed.
Jiangg Yao took the initiative to turn around and smile. “Hi, Xiaobing. It’s our first time meeting. You can just call me Yaoyao.”
“Jia… Hello, Yaoyao.”
Li Bing kept her head down, making her expression completely unreadable. This was, however, in line with her usual personality—quiet and reserved.
Inside, though, she was utterly bewildered.
’Isn’t this Jiangg? Why is she acting like she doesn’t know me at all? We just had a meal together a few days ago.’
Inside the car, the girls started chatting.
“Where are we going to buy the gifts?”
“Let’s go to the World Trade Center. I’m getting her a pair of headphones, and I have to get another gift on behalf of my sister. I’m still trying to decide what to get for that one,” Jiangg Yao replied.
“Is your sister coming too?” Ran Yu asked.
“No, she’s not coming. You know how I often ask Wan to hang out with me? My sister said she wanted to thank her.”
“That’s so nice of her! In that case, let me keep you company from now on, Yaoyao!”
“I think you just want a gift.”
“Hee hee hee, don’t expose me.”
’Sister…’
Mulling over that word, a guess began to form in Li Bing’s mind, and her confusion started to clear up.
