- Chapter 356 - 237: Hello, Young Master. Are You Free Tonight?

“It’s scorching hot, yet you insisted on coming to the men’s dorm. You’re not even using an umbrella in this sun. I really don’t understand what you’re thinking.” Chen Yuan hurried over and stood in front of her.
He’d barely caught his balance before the chiding words tumbled out.
He had originally planned to say something colder, like ’What are you doing here again?’ But as his vision zeroed in on Jiangg Yao’s face, he saw gentle sunlight filtering through the gaps in the trees. The light formed a halo around her, making the beads of sweat on her cheeks shimmer.
Jiangg Yao had a beautiful side profile—gentle and adorable. The ends of her hair shimmered a translucent amber in the sunlight, but her forehead was beaded with sweat.
’She’s like a little kitten that ran over all damp, without properly shaking itself dry.’
In the end, Chen Yuan couldn’t bring himself to be harsh and softened his tone. But Jiangg Yao seemed completely unfazed by his attitude, whispering, “If I held up an umbrella, how would you have seen me? I wanted you to see me the moment you stepped out of your dorm. So… Aren’t you happy to have your cute girlfriend waiting downstairs? I bet everyone else is dying of envy~”
“Ex-girlfriend,” Chen Yuan corrected after a brief hesitation. He stepped to his left to block some of the sun for her. “Okay, let’s go… It’s not even summer yet, and you’re dressed a little too lightly.”
“I am?”
Before Jiangg Yao could react, Chen Yuan had already grabbed her hand and was pulling her toward the path, his steps so brisk he seemed to be making a getaway. Yaoyao scrambled to keep up, the bag in her hand swinging wildly.
“Slow down…” she said in a delicate voice, a smile playing on her lips because he was gripping her hand so tightly. “It’s even hotter when we run so fast.”
They didn’t slow their pace until they reached a wide, shaded avenue flanked by tall plane trees.
Jiangg Yao quickly straightened her bangs. She had tied her hair into two braided pigtails to keep cool. Parted at the back of her head, the braids draped over her shoulders, each secured with a blue hair tie decorated with a cute little Doraemon charm.
’She got them from Wan’s place.’
“Don’t dress like this on campus anymore,” Chen Yuan said, his eyes lingering on her for a moment. ’Ever since the truth about the twins came out, he’d noticed this little troublemaker, Yaoyao, had been dressing in a more youthful and vibrant style, a huge contrast to Ningning. She radiated an energy that was, admittedly, very attractive.’ “Didn’t you notice all those guys under the dorm? Their eyes were practically glued to your legs.”
“For real?” Jiangg Yao glanced down at herself. “This is just a normal outfit, though.”
“Showing off those long legs of yours. You think you look great, don’t you?” he said sarcastically, baring a set of pearly white teeth in a menacing smile.
’If her legs were thick and stumpy, like on some overweight girl, no one would be looking.’
’But when it came to the sisters Jiangg Ning and Jiangg Yao, their two most outstanding features were Ningning’s waist and Yaoyao’s legs.’
’She had what people call “manga legs”—perfectly straight. Her fashion sense only served to accentuate her long leg-to-torso ratio. Moreover, her thighs were springy and full without being fatty, and her calves were toned and flawless.’
’Ningning’s legs were slenderer, so they lacked a certain fullness; you could only say they were elegantly proportioned.’
’But if you were talking about truly great legs, it had to be Yaoyao. In the sweltering heat of summer, she was simply divine!’
’And yet, Jiangg Yao used to always think her legs were fat, which was completely absurd.’
“Jealous?” Jiangg Yao blinked, whispering by his ear in an incredibly soft and sweet voice.
“No.”
“Hee hee… You’re totally jealous.”
“I am not.”
“So you don’t like other people looking at your girlfriend’s legs. Pretty possessive, aren’t you, you little punk?”
“When I say no, I mean no!”
“Now you’re getting flustered.”
“Piss off.” Utterly exasperated, Chen Yuan shook off Yaoyao’s hand and stormed ahead by himself, his cheeks bright red. ’Getting called out like that is cringey enough to make my toes curl.’
Jiangg Yao caught up and threw her arms around him from behind, locking them around his neck.
’We just had a little squabble, is she trying to assassinate me now?’
“GACK—”
A few seconds later, Jiangg Yao had pulled off his jacket and deftly tied it around her waist, obscuring most of the magnificent view.
“There, happy now?” she asked, dusting off her hands.
Chen Yuan rubbed his neck, giving Jiangg Yao a wordless stare.
His silence, however, was answer enough.
Jiangg Yao was so happy it felt like her heart was oozing honeydew; everything felt wonderfully sweet. A single thought dominated her mind: ’Chen Yuan cares about me. He still has feelings for me.’
’And he’s super possessive, too.’
“Okay, I’ll stop messing with you,” Chen Yuan said. “I have to get to class. My schedule’s packed today, I won’t be done until six, so you don’t need to wait for me.”
“I never said I was going to wait for you,” Jiangg Yao said with a playful grin.
“…Right, right.”
“Just kidding. I was planning on waiting, but since you put it that way, I guess I’ll just head home. It’s not easy to sneak into a specialized course even with an auditing pass.” Jiangg Yao rustled around in her bag, finally pulling out an ice-cold can of Coke glistening with condensation. She then shoved a small portable fan and a pack of tissues into his hands. “I know you like to have a cold Coke after your afternoon nap. Use the fan in class so you don’t get too hot. And the tissues are for your sweat.”
’She fussed over every little detail. When she was being this thoughtful, she wasn’t all that different from Jiangg Ning.’
’Is she just a naturally meticulous person? No, this is what love does.’
Jiangg Yao then snatched the tissues back, tucked them neatly into his pocket for him, and gave it a little pat.
“It’s just class, you don’t have to go this far… I can manage,” Chen Yuan mumbled, pursing his lips and turning his face away.
“If I love you, you have to enjoy being loved! Otherwise, what’s the point of me even being here?” Jiangg Yao ran behind him and gave him a push. “Alright… be good and get to class. I’m not so thoughtless that I’d keep you from your studies.”
He couldn’t bring himself to say another harsh word.
He felt as if another crack had just been chiseled into the stone shell around his heart.
