My Professions Have Too Much Personality - Chapter 247 - 157: Hongxuan’s Power

Chapter 247: Chapter 157: Hongxuan’s Power
Once they advanced and stepped into the arena again, both would be Tier Four.
Hongxuan had been a Tier Four Professional for much longer than him, which was a disadvantage in a way.
Before he even arrived, Su Chen could faintly hear a clamor.
When he got there, he was even more startled.
The square was packed with people, even more than for Zhu Xuan’s initial Tier Three battle. They had even set up open-air seating.
’Why are people from the Security Department here too?’
Su Chen scanned the area and saw many Inspector Guards, City Patrol Guards, and even Explorer Guards clustered together.
Normally, these people were rarely seen in the same place as members of the Judicial Court.
There were too many people for Su Chen to squeeze through unless he revealed his identity.
He had no choice but to find a spot in the shadows and watch from a distance.
On the large screens positioned around the venue, only Hongxuan’s figure was currently visible. He was hovering cross-legged over the arena, his eyes slightly closed as if he were resting.
“Damn it, just looking at that sissy pisses me off.”
“Sigh, but what can you say? The guy has defeated several Core Seeds in a row.”
Su Chen heard someone cursing beside him, clearly filled with deep-seated resentment.
“Didn’t you see how arrogant those people from Yuan Capital are? Even the Security Department is here to watch the show. Who knows how they’re laughing at us in their heads.”
Hongxuan’s challenge had been going on for over a month, causing a huge stir not just in the Judicial Court but throughout all of Ying Feng, drawing attention from many different factions.
“Didn’t a few young people from the Security Department come a few days ago? They ended up losing too.”
Just as the crowd was discussing this, Hongxuan, on the arena, suddenly moved. He lowered his legs and opened his eyes.
Ming Lin had already stepped onto the arena.
The clamor gradually died down. Watching through the screens, one couldn’t feel any fluctuations in their auras.
’This seems to be the first time I’ve ever seen Ming Lin fight,’ Su Chen suddenly thought.
“Yingfeng Judicial Court—Ming Lin.”
The voice came from the screen. Ming Lin stared at his opponent with a grave expression.
Hongxuan’s expression was placid. “Yuan Capital Church Court—Hongxuan.”
After introducing themselves, neither of them moved.
Through the screen, their Energy fluctuations were imperceptible, making the standoff seem a bit strange. But the crowd could imagine what was happening, and their expressions grew excited.
Noticing something, Ming Lin’s expression changed slightly, and he made the first move. Frost spread from the edge of his left foot while the ground by his right melted into crimson magma. The airflow around him formed a violent vortex that rushed toward Hongxuan.
The screen broadcast made it difficult to observe the details of the fight; the dazzling Energy had already turned the screen searing white.
’Rare, opposing professions.’ Su Chen’s eyes narrowed.
Ming Lin’s Tier One, Two, and Three were all Top-tier Professions, and the Tier Four he sought was also Top-tier.
Before this, he had been a strong competitor for Wei Yufan, and the two had clashed often.
However, starting from Tier Two, he had deliberately chosen opposing professions for each subsequent Tier.
When choosing a profession, there are many paths. With enough effort, many professions can be made compatible, but opposing Elemental Professions were always a major taboo. Ming Lin, however, did the exact opposite.
The crimson and white on the screen gradually faded, and the faces of the crowd, craning their necks to watch, turned aghast.
On the arena, Hongxuan hadn’t moved at all. He still stood in his original spot, an Energy barrier swirling around him, effortlessly blocking Ming Lin’s attack.
Ming Lin’s expression was grave. His heterochromatic eyes suddenly bloomed with light—his left eye as black as an abyss, his right as white-hot as the blazing sun. Two completely different beams of light pierced the air, intertwining into a spiraling torrent of Energy that shot forward ferociously.
The screen turned searing white again.
“They say Ming Lin was discovered in some settlement, born with heterochromatic eyes. Later, his eyes developed a mysterious connection with his professions, effectively giving him an additional combat method.”
“Perhaps it was precisely because of those eyes that he chose opposing professions.”
Unable to see the battle scene clearly, Su Chen’s gaze unfocused. At first, he had thought Ming Lin’s heterochromatic eyes were a result of his professions, but he later learned that he was born with them.
“It’s over? He surrendered?”
Someone suddenly shouted. The searing white had just faded from the screen, and they saw Ming Lin with a bitter expression. He didn’t seem to be injured, but he sighed and jumped straight off the arena.
And at some unknown point, Hongxuan was already standing in front of him, watching him with a calm expression.
“Why did he surrender? He clearly still had strength left.” A Judge stamped his foot, unable to hold back. “What on earth is Lord Ming Lin thinking?”
“He probably realized the gap between them. There was no point in continuing to fight,” someone next to him sighed.
“But… he should have at least kept trying…”
The outer square erupted in an uproar, with cries rising and falling.
…
Inside the challenge hall, the members of the Judicial Court looked dejected, staring at one another in dismay. The surrounding silence was terrifying.
In the highest viewing box, An Ming cradled the back of his head with his hands and said playfully, “Just as expected.”
“Four of the six Core Seeds have been defeated. That Wei Yufan is a Tier Five Professional, so he can’t fight. That leaves just one, Su Chen, I think his name is. How long is he going to hide?”
Someone beside him shook his head. “I heard that Su Chen is unusual—he has parallel dual professions. Wei Yufan was forced by him to avoid a fight by advancing to Tier Five.”
An Ming remained completely unconcerned. “Isn’t that perfect? Defeating the last one is the same as defeating Wei Yufan.”
“I hope he comes out soon and stops wasting time.”
“Haven’t you always been unconvinced by Hongxuan? Why don’t you go up and give it a try?” the burly man beside An Ming teased.
An Ming’s face darkened slightly, but he said lightly, “This challenge arena is quite interesting. I hear the Saint Envoy is already negotiating with Ying Feng to buy the technology.”
“I’ll try after we get back. If I go up now, the Saint Envoy will probably skin me alive.”
“Heh heh…” the man next to him chuckled.
Wei Yufan and the others were not far away. An Ming spoke without any restraint, and their expressions all turned grim.
…
“Ming Lin lost, too.”
In a top-floor private box, Chong Jingtian watched the arena below with a dark expression.
After Ming Lin left, Hongxuan returned to his usual state, hovering cross-legged in the void with his eyes closed, quietly awaiting his next opponent.
“What about that kid?” he asked.
Although he didn’t say a name, Jiang Shu Mo, who was beside him, knew exactly who Chong Jingtian was talking about. He said helplessly:
“Mourning Wei Yinsuo, I suppose. He hasn’t left his home since he returned from the Translation Department.”
Chong Jingtian’s face twitched. “He certainly has patience. Seems he won’t make a move unless someone gives him a whip.”
“He might not necessarily win,” Jiang Shu Mo said, shaking his head with a sigh. “Last time, he crushed Zhu Xuan because of his dual Top-tier Professions, using Mind Control to seize the initiative.”
“But this Hongxuan also has parallel dual professions. Su Chen’s methods won’t work. From watching the battles these past few days, I can see he’s supplemented by more than one special profession.”
Chong Jingtian’s expression was ugly. “Wu Chenpei is trying to prove that no one in all of Ying Feng is a match for Hongxuan.”
“Does he think that if he proves it, I’ll let him see the Stone Slab?”
Jiang Shu Mo shook his head almost imperceptibly. ’Whether he lets them see it or not, being suppressed like this is a bad look.’
Pressure was coming from the Elder Council, and public opinion wasn’t quiet either. Some people were already saying that the Judicial Court, which consumed so many resources, was full of useless freeloaders.
“He might not gain its approval,” You Shan said, her gaze shifting from the dejectedly departing Ming Lin, a pang of sympathy in her heart.
“Might not?” Chong Jingtian sneered. “I’m willing to bet that if he really sees it, he’ll gain its Spiritual approval nine times out of ten. With that partial Spiritual approval, he can enter the ruins, get close to the other half of the Stone Slab, and most likely become the chosen one.”
“A Morning Star Tier profession isn’t rootless. The Great Venerable Red Flame Thunder Resonator—based on that name alone, there’s no way Professionals who use ice, water, and other such elements as their foundation could ever gain its approval.”
At this, Chong Jingtian fell silent for a moment, then let out a long sigh. “There’s just too much information we’re missing.”
“The requirements for Upper-tier Professions are bizarre and varied, to say nothing of Morning Star Tier professions. If you don’t start preparing several Tiers in advance, by the time you’re facing it, it’ll be too late for anything.”
