But what surprised him the most was something else.
’This universe doesn’t seem to have the concept of galaxies.’
According to Wan Chen, the planets under the Bronze Sect’s dominion existed in isolation. They weren’t part of any galaxy, instead relying on the Sect’s Eternal Silence Star to repel the Nether Fog.
’How bizarre…’ Su Chen guessed that this, too, was related to the mysterious Nether Fog.
The minor incident with Lan Hao didn’t have much of an impact. After his fight with Wan Chen, he barely showed his face, spending all his time in his room.
Su Chen, likewise, stayed in his room to work on his class progression.
Time passed. One day, inside the special zone created by the Spiritual Pressure Ring, Su Chen’s body was enveloped in a dense cloud of mist.
Black electric sparks crackled within the milky-white vortex. His bones popped and cracked, as if being forcibly stretched and reassembled by an invisible giant’s hand, while a hum like clashing metal resounded from his chest.
Moreover, strange illusions faintly materialized within the mist: skyscrapers, a cozy room, ferocious beasts, and more.
[Cloud Dragon Body Refining Technique has been upgraded to Master Level. Ability Gained—Cloud Body: Slightly increases movement speed.]
[Mirage Sea Meditation Technique has been upgraded to Master Level. Ability Gained—Sea Stabilize: Slightly increases Spiritual Resilience.]
These were the minor enhancements from both his Body Refining Technique and Meditation Technique reaching Master Level simultaneously.
The transformation soon ended. Su Chen exhaled a breath of turbid air, feeling his body had become significantly lighter.
[Word Spirit Law Master: 30%]
[Calamity Patrol Master: 30%]
His class progression for both had reached 30%.
’That was incredibly fast,’ he couldn’t help but marvel. It had only been a little over a month since he’d received the Great Venerable’s blessing.
He estimated that before the blessing ended, he could probably get his progression close to 60%.
’This Double Experience Card is amazing. I wonder if I can farm them off Wan Chen and the others,’ Su Chen mused to himself. Not wasting any time, he called up the Body Refining and Meditation Techniques he had prepared before setting out.
[Blazing Flame Body Refining Technique]
[Glazed Heart Lamp Meditation Method]
However, the Blazing Flame Body Refining Technique required assistance from an external, high-intensity source of fire, and he currently lacked the ability to generate the Fire Element himself.
He had originally brought Earth Fire Crystals to serve this purpose, but now there was a simpler way.
Su Chen gently twisted the Spiritual Pressure Ring on his hand. On the virtual screen that appeared, he selected the crimson flame icon. Instantly, wisps of fire materialized in the gravitational field swirling around him.
’This thing really is convenient,’ Su Chen marveled once again. He stripped off his clothes and, using a unique breathing technique, drew the external flames into his body through his mouth, nose, and pores.
At first, he only felt a warm current flowing in.
But soon, that warmth transformed into scorching steel needles, forcibly piercing and carving paths through his body.
It felt like being seared with a branding iron. His skin took on an unnatural, crimson hue, and any sweat that beaded on his skin instantly evaporated into white steam.
Su Chen activated the Meditation Technique at the same time, beginning to carve the outline of the heart lamp. Initially, it was just a few crooked, twisted lines, but the pain in his body subsided considerably as he worked.
But just as he was barely getting the hang of them, the smart panel beside his door suddenly lit up.
Su Chen noticed the activity and glanced over, his brow twitching slightly. ’We’re here?’
On it was a notification: they had arrived at the ruins.
The timing was about right. Su Chen walked to the window and glanced down. He saw that the ship had already begun its descent, but the view outside was completely obscured by the gray Nether Fog.
After tidying himself up a bit, he left his room. The others had already gathered in the main cabin.
Lan Hao was there as well, his expression calm and unreadable.
Seeing Su Chen arrive, Chong Jingtian glanced at him before continuing what he was saying. “The people from the other cities have already arrived and have established a settlement below. Please, everyone, be patient. Allow me to go down and inform them of our arrival.”
This group had been notified right after Su Chen and Hongxuan faced the Great Venerable’s Spirituality, so they had departed earlier. The group transporting the Deceitful God’s Power was still en route.
“Alright.” It was unclear what Qing Cang and Chong Jingtian had discussed during the journey, but the two seemed to have reached some sort of agreement.
Chong Jingtian led Zhou Yanwu, Xia Hanshi, and a few others down from the ship first.
Su Chen remained by the porthole. As the ship continued to descend, he could finally make out some buildings and other ships parked nearby.
It looked like a temporary settlement. The basic building material was White Crystal Stone, which had a slight repelling effect on the Nether Fog, making the area somewhat clearer.
These settlements surrounded a central area: a stretch of crimson metal ground that held the dull sheen of solidified lava. Most of its surface was covered in a grayish-white, calcified grime.
Only the very center was different, where a large, gray-black metal door stood exposed. A film of energy shimmered across its surface, through which strange symbols faintly flowed, making it look completely out of place.
He had heard from Xia Hanshi that this was the joint blockade created by the four cities. The material they used had been brought out from the ruins and was already in this shape. They had simply placed it over the door and applied their own respective measures.
Entering from any other point was virtually impossible.
That seemingly unremarkable crimson metal was far, far harder than the giant, gray-black door.
’So this is the ruin…’ Su Chen couldn’t help but feel disappointed. He had expected something extraordinary, but it just looked like an underground cave.
He wasn’t the only one; Wan Chen’s group, and even Qing Cang, all looked a little disappointed.
As they drew closer to the ground, they could see many heads popping up to look. Chong Jingtian and his group had already landed and were seeking out their respective contacts to explain the situation.
