My Professions Have Too Much Personality - Chapter 349 - 208: On the Spaceship

“Alright, have Ming Lin come with me.” Su Chen thought for a moment. It made sense.
After they finished speaking, Chong Jingtian didn’t even return to the banquet, instead rushing off to gather people to help him collect the hearts.
Su Chen gave it some thought, then used the cover of night to head outside the city. He boarded the spaceship and sought out Qing Cang.
After the AI announced his visitor, Qing Cang opened the door, looking somewhat surprised. “Leaving tonight?”
“Er… no…” Su Chen shook his head and explained, “I’ll probably have to wait another day or two.”
“I see.” Qing Cang nodded. A five-day delay was still within his expectations.
“Then, what brings you to me…?” He stepped aside to let Su Chen in. The title ’Junior Brother’ already rolled off his tongue smoothly. Qing Feng lifted the teacup from the table and poured a full cup for Su Chen.
“I wanted to ask you, Senior Brother, is there any way for me to contact Red Thunder Star from the Cyan Sect?” Su Chen accepted the teacup, its fragrant aroma filling the air.
“With the Nether Realm standing between them, there’s only one way to communicate over such a vast distance…” Qing Cang mused for a moment before saying, “Netherworld Stone.”
’So that’s what it is…’ Su Chen’s interest was piqued, but he feigned a look of rapt attention. Qing Cang promptly began his explanation.
“The Nether Realm is the dark side of the universe, the place where spirits return. Through the Nether Realm, even a separation of countless miles can feel like no distance at all.”
He reached out, pulling a black, metallic stone from the void. “This is a Netherworld Stone.”
“Oh?” Su Chen took it, feigning surprise.
[Netherworld Stone – Child Stone (Special Item): Can be used to establish a connection to a specific location in the Nether Realm.]
He’d seen one of these before; it was the one he had confiscated from Lan Hao. And though it came with a description, Su Chen hadn’t dared to use it carelessly.
“Netherworld Stones are divided into Mother Stones and Child Stones,” Qing Cang explained. “This is a Child Stone. Through it, you can project your spirit into a special room built from a Mother Stone.”
“So that’s how it works…” Su Chen was quite surprised. The idea of communicating through the Nether Realm was truly incredible.
Then he asked, “So, where do these Netherworld Stones come from?”
“They are mined from the Nether Realm, of course.” Qing Cang put the Netherworld Stone away and added with a sigh,
“This material is quite rare. Furthermore, each use of a Child Stone consumes a portion of it. The greater the distance and the thicker the Nether Fog, the higher the consumption. To contact Red Thunder Star from the Sect, it would consume a minimum of four stones each time.”
’Mined in the Nether Realm, and they’re that valuable?’
A gleam flickered in Su Chen’s eyes. He asked, “Is the Nether Realm very dangerous?”
“More than dangerous.” Qing Cang’s expression grew solemn. “That is the dwelling place of the Deceitful God. Or rather, the Deceitful God is just one type of powerful creature born within the Nether Realm.”
“The more powerful a life form’s spirit, the more easily it will attract attacks there. This is especially true where rare things are found. For instance, powerful Netherworld Creatures always guard the areas around Netherworld Stones.”
“Even I dare not stay in the Nether Realm for too long. The Sect only controls a few mining veins.”
“It certainly sounds dangerous,” Su Chen nodded in agreement, a peculiar glint flashing in his eyes for a moment. ’It seems… I’m sitting on a gold mine.’
’I haven’t even arrived at the Cyan Sect, and I already seem to have what I need to make a name for myself.’
The problem was, research on the Nether Realm was far too limited on Red Thunder Star. Su Chen himself had only entered it that one time while searching for the Spiritual Essence.
Each time he went in, he arrived at a different place, which made it very difficult to explore.
So he asked, “I’ve happened to enter the Nether Realm a few times, but each time I appear in a new location. If one wanted to mine for these Netherworld Stones, would they need to use some other method?”
“Correct.” Qing Cang nodded. “Without an anchor point, a normal Spirit Body’s coordinates within the Nether Realm are not fixed upon entry. Only through an anchor point can they be stabilized.”
“’An anchor point…’” Su Chen said, lost in thought.
Qing Cang continued, “As for the communication method between Red Thunder and the Sect, the Sect will take care of it. When I return, I will dispatch someone to pick up the ’seeds’ Chong Jingtian is sending, and they will bring a batch of Netherworld Stones with them.”
“I understand.” Su Chen nodded. After some more small talk with Qing Cang, he confirmed his departure time for two days later.
Over the next two days, Su Chen met with a few old acquaintances, including Old Bai and Zhang Hengyu. When they learned he was leaving Red Thunder Star, they were all stunned silent for a long while.
“I knew you were moving up fast, but I never expected it to be *this* fast.”
In the living room of Su Chen’s residence, Bai Fengxi gazed out the window, her mind inevitably drifting back to their time at Southwind Academy, to the memory of Su Chen borrowing money from her for a meal.
Before she knew it, two years had passed.
Ever since joining Ying Feng, she had constantly been trying to catch up to Su Chen, but she was still too slow.
“You have to do whatever it takes, by any means necessary…” Bai Fengxi turned around, her eyes fixed on him, her voice firm and forceful. “Get to the very top… the absolute top…”
Su Chen was startled for a moment, then replied, “Of course.”
…
Two days passed in the blink of an eye. Su Chen also entrusted the three families that had been supporting him to Old Xia’s care.
These three families had been very cooperative, always doing everything in their power to help him.
Under Chong Jingtian’s command, Ying Feng was a flurry of intense, albeit controlled, activity for two days. In total, they collected hearts from seventy-six different types of Tier Four Mutant Species.
Trying to collect any more would be a case of diminishing returns, as the time required would increase exponentially. Su Chen didn’t waste any more time on it.
The day of his departure was clear and bright.
Beneath the *Copper Star*, Chong Jingtian, Xia Hanshi, and the others had gathered to see him off.
“The Bronze Sect is unstable internally. Even though you have an Ancient King’s protection, anyone who truly dares to make trouble for you will have one of their own,” Chong Jingtian advised. “Don’t get into fights over ego.”
He knew Su Chen was always prudent, but Ying Feng and the Bronze Sect were worlds apart.
“When a killing blow is needed, deliver it,” Xia Hanshi said in a low voice, his gaze as cold as ever. This sharp sword had clearly not been dulled on his new, young wife.
“I understand.” Su Chen listened to their words and finally nodded.
