My Professions Have Too Much Personality - Chapter 353 - 210: Balance Dao Central Hub

Lin Yue was so angry she couldn’t help but laugh.
Wan Chen added, “Even if you beat his projection to a pulp ten thousand times in the training room, it won’t change the fact that Su Chen is now the chosen one.”
“There’s no need to seek a sense of superiority from this. Uncle Lin has an illustrious reputation; it wouldn’t look good if word of this got out…”
“Heh…” Lin Yue’s expression darkened, but she eventually composed herself and said flatly, “Wan Chen, you’re so high and mighty, aren’t you? So impressive…”
She had originally intended to explain herself, but as Wan Chen continued, she lost the inclination. Instead, a realization dawned on her.
’Other than those who’ve experienced it firsthand, no one would ever imagine that Su Chen from Red Thunder Star could possess such strength.’
’And this secret… it might just bring certain advantages.’
Watching Lin Yue’s retreating figure, Wan Chen sighed to himself. ’Lin Yue is so defiant, she’s even resorting to beating up a projection just to vent her frustration.’
’Those people in the Sect are probably all seething with resentment too.’
’I wonder if Su Chen will be able to hold onto this position.’
’He has to find a way, even if he can’t hold on. Otherwise, it’s death.’ His eyes flickered with some unreadable thought before he closed the door again.
…
Time on the spaceship was rather dull. There was nothing to do but train.
Aside from visiting the training room every few days to try and push his Body Refining Technique beyond its limits, Su Chen spent all his time in his room, almost never stepping out.
He only ran into Wan Chen and the others occasionally, and they never had much to say to each other. He did notice, however, that the way Lin Yue looked at him had subtly changed.
While in the transit corridor, it was nearly impossible to perceive any changes in the outside environment, making it even harder to sense the passage of time. In these conditions, a month flew by in the blink of an eye.
On this day, Su Chen stood inside the Spiritual Pressure Ring in his room. Arcs of lightning surged around his body, no longer sparking and scattering, but transforming into a viscous, liquid-like Energy that seeped into his skin, following the lines of his flesh.
A miniature, rotating thunderstorm surfaced in the depths of his pupils. His sternum emitted a faint sound, like jade chimes colliding. His cells were buzzing with unparalleled activity, and a dull, stinging pain emanated from his muscles and bones.
His physical structure was undergoing a subtle reinforcement and metamorphosis.
After a long while, the transformation finally subsided. Su Chen took a deep breath and then exhaled, his breath mixed with fragmented arcs of lightning. His body felt remarkably light.
[Calamity Patrol Envoy development progress has reached 50%. Ability Awakened—Calamity Seal: Condensed from the Power of Calamity, it can be directly implanted into a target’s body.]
’This ability…’ Su Chen raised an eyebrow. It seemed designed to work in tandem with his other ability, Catastrophe Strike, which could detonate the Power of Calamity within a target’s body.
However, the Power of Calamity had to be built up inside a target through combat.
And his battles were usually over in an instant; he rarely found himself in a prolonged fight.
The Power of Calamity rarely had a use case. ’Now that I have a way to build it up outside of combat, I can add it to my arsenal of burst attacks. Not bad at all.’
’With all these overlapping buffs, the development efficiency is incredible. A 20% increase in just one month…’ Su Chen couldn’t help but feel impressed.
It felt like being a Tier One Professional all over again, sensing his body change daily. The sense of gratification was unparalleled.
The development progress for his Word Spirit Law Master class was a bit slower, currently at only 45%.
’It’s missing the 100% boost, but the bonus is additive, not multiplicative. In practical terms, the difference in development progress isn’t that significant.’
Putting away the Spiritual Pressure Ring, Su Chen walked to the window. Outside, the view was no longer the phantasmagorical transit corridor, nor was it the gray, hazy Nether Fog.
Instead, there was only a vast, silent darkness, punctuated by a few scattered points of light.
They had exited the Nether Fog a day earlier and were now approaching the Balance Dao Central Hub.
’I thought I’d see a sky full of stars…’ His gaze lost focus, and he couldn’t help but feel a pang of disappointment.
’Then again, stars are essentially suns. This universe only has Flame Fire, so naturally, there’s nothing to see.’
The only familiar sight was the occasional meteor streaking across the heavens.
Looking down, he saw a small landmass floating in the silent darkness not far away. It was the only source of light in the vicinity, shrouded in a cyan energy barrier.
As the spaceship drew closer, the landmass grew larger, and he could faintly make out buildings on its surface.
Even more striking were the various ships constantly docking and departing, their multicolored engine flares weaving together in eerie silence.
’An Interstellar Hub… Impressive.’ Su Chen stared intently. He’d never had the chance to see anything like this in his past life.
…
Meanwhile, in Lan Hao’s room, a blurry virtual projection was being rendered by the surrounding equipment.
“Father…” Lan Hao stood to one side, his head bowed, feeling nervous and afraid.
For one, high hopes had been placed on him, yet he had failed to become the one chosen by the Venerable Red Flame Thunder Resonator.
For another, he had been tortured by the Deceitful God’s Followers on Ghost Planet and had revealed his two professions, along with other secrets.
“Mm.” Lanhai’s reaction was flat. He glanced at his timid son and said, “Why are you only contacting me now? I tried to summon you many times with the Netherworld Stone. Why didn’t you respond?”
“Er…” Lan Hao’s eyes darted about evasively. Not daring to look up, he stammered, “There was an accident… I lost the Netherworld Stone.”
“Lost it?” Lanhai’s brow furrowed. “What kind of accident? How could you possibly lose a Netherworld Stone?”
“It’s… complicated,” he explained. “Qing Cang was watching me like a hawk, so I didn’t dare use it anywhere near him. I went deep into the Nether Fog, but I ran into a few powerful Mutant Species and… accidentally lost it during the commotion.”
Lanhai’s eyes narrowed. He sensed something was amiss, but since it wasn’t a major issue, he moved on. “So you’re approaching the Balance Dao Hub?”
