- Chapter 377 - 221: Killed on the Spot (Part 2)

“That Su Chen… he really withstood the corrosion of Deceitful God’s Power matching his own Tier?” the Prison King suddenly asked.
Ni Chuan was still composing himself. He was surprised to hear the question and nodded. “That’s right. I saw it with my own eyes. Although the test was a bit of a farce, it shouldn’t have been faked.”
“How interesting…” the Prison King murmured to himself. ’Could it be… the Bronze Ancient King is planning to rely on him…’
“Hm?” Ni Chuan couldn’t help but look over, his eyes filled with speculation. He asked carefully, “Is there something special about withstanding the corrosion of Deceitful God’s Power?”
While the matter had surprised him, he hadn’t paid it much mind. But from the Prison King’s tone, it seemed to be something out of the ordinary.
“It’s nothing. Just a wild idea that suddenly occurred to me. It’s probably impossible…” The Prison King chuckled. All around them, security ships were converging, having apparently discovered the two individuals violating the no-fly order.
But after a preliminary scan, they dispersed, pretending not to have seen anything.
The Prison King said nonchalantly, “Let’s go. We should at least greet the Ancient King, since he’s here in person.”
At the same time, the entire Taiyue Hub noticed the commotion. People looked up, dumbfounded. The more astute among them were already rushing their families toward the docking ports.
In the Meteorite Zone, figures shot up into the sky, their gazes fixed on the scene, filled with astonishment, shock, or horror.
“The Bronze Ancient King?!”
Someone had already recognized him and quickly made the connection to the Bronze Sect’s recently emerged Star Seed, seeming to realize something.
But they didn’t dare get too close, instead taking out some kind of high-precision long-range scanner to observe from a distance.
……
After the figure of the Bronze Ancient King appeared, everything seemed to fall silent.
On the Meteor frozen by the Breath of Stillness.
Xia Jie looked up, his eyes wide. ’This is… This is…’
Wan Chen’s expression shifted, and a wry smile appeared on his face. ’To have the power of an Ancient King personally attend to you… I don’t think any of the other Star Seeds have ever received such treatment.’
Lan Hao was too shocked to speak. ’How is the Ancient King still here? Wasn’t all his power spent on that Desolate Planet?’
“How is this possible…”
Hu Qi looked up, a storm of emotions—disbelief, terror, and panic—surging through him. It all coalesced into a chill that rose from his heart and spread throughout his body, making him tremble uncontrollably.
Su Chen was right before him, seemingly within reach, but he knew he had already lost his chance to strike.
“Shouldn’t it have been completely exhausted by now?” Hu Qi muttered to himself. He had learned of this not only from Qing Cang but also confirmed it through deductions based on past experience.
After all, that was a Desolate Planet shrouded in the Nether Fog. The power had to expel all of the Nether Fog and then ensure the planet wasn’t corroded again for a certain period.
It was just a sliver of the Ancient King’s power; there was no way it could withstand that kind of consumption.
Hu Qi’s vision darkened. Even though he was considered a high-ranking member within the Bronze Sect, this situation…
’He’s making such a huge scene?’ Su Chen was also surprised.
He looked up at the Bronze Giant above, then glanced around. On the nearby Meteors, people who had noticed the commotion were all fleeing. Only after reaching a certain distance did they stop to look back.
In the distance, they had even formed a human wall, and the crowd was still growing.
’If people from the Royal Court are watching in secret, won’t this expose my position?’ Su Chen couldn’t help but think.
At the same time, several streams of Energy flew over and landed on the Meteor. The one in the lead was Wu Feng.
He scanned the group, his gaze pausing on Su Chen before landing on Hu Qi, who stood before him, trembling like a leaf. His expression was one of confusion.
He had been the closest and had rushed over as soon as he noticed the commotion. Su Chen and the others were all here.
It seemed Hu Qi had found them first, but something unexpected had apparently happened.
Just as he was about to speak, his expression shifted. He turned to look toward the crowd in the distance as two streams of Energy landed, one after the other.
“Junior Master Qing Cang, Lin Zoushou,” Wu Feng called out.
Lin Langtian swept his gaze across the scene, already having a good grasp of the situation. He gave Qing Cang, who was standing before him, a complicated look.
’I’ve only ever heard of parents planning for their children, or teachers for their students. I’ve never heard of a senior brother going to such lengths for his junior. Just why is Qing Cang so invested in this?’
Qing Cang glanced at Hu Qi’s back, a chill running through him. ’So it really was him…’
“Master…” Qing Cang called out, breaking the silence. He then looked at Hu Qi and said in a cold voice, “What is the penalty for attempting to assassinate a Sect Star Seed?”
’Assassinate a Star Seed?’
Wu Feng was startled by the words and looked at Hu Qi. He then furrowed his brow, finding it hard to believe.
At that moment, Hu Qi’s face twitched. He finally snapped back to his senses, quickly backed away from Su Chen, and hurriedly said:
“Ancient King, I implore you to see the truth! I would never have such a thought.”
Hu Qi immediately changed his tune. In a situation like this, he absolutely could not admit to it.
’After all, I’m backed by a Morning Star Tier Professional. Even an Ancient King has to consider the implications, right?’
“Still trying to deny it.” Qing Cang shook his head, his eyes incomparably cold.
“I…” Hu Qi’s face was pale. His gaze suddenly fell on Xia Jie, and he shouted, “Commander Xia, tell them! Did you see any sign of me making a move? I was just checking to see if you were in any danger!”
Xia Jie’s expression froze. He cursed inwardly, ’Bastard! Why are you dragging a mere guard Commander like me into something this huge?’
His expression shifted. He didn’t dare look up at anyone. He thought of his parents, his wife, and his child, his heart in turmoil.
Hu Qi wasn’t just Hu Qi; he represented an extremely powerful faction. He…
“I can testify,” a voice said from behind Xia Jie.
Su Chen looked over in surprise. It was Wan Chen. His expression was calm as he stated unequivocally:
“Supervisor Hu’s words and actions were filled with killing intent, and he arrived in close succession with an assassin. If the Ancient King hadn’t appeared, we would likely all be corpses by now.”
“I saw it clearly. He was about to make a move, but was deterred by the Ancient King’s presence,” Ming Lin said, his voice calm but firm. He didn’t know if his words carried any weight, but he spoke up nonetheless.
“I can testify too,” Lin Yue followed up, saying coldly, “This Fatty Hu was clearly here to kill Su Chen, and he was going to kill the rest of us too.”
Lin Langtian looked at his daughter in astonishment, only to see her winking at him. His heart sank. ’Don’t tell me…’
Hu Qi’s face turned ugly. ’Those two little bastards! Xia Jie might be afraid of my power, but these two certainly aren’t.’
’Those two…’ Lan Hao glanced from side to side. His father’s words flashed through his mind, and he hesitated for a moment.
But in that moment of hesitation, Wu Feng had already bellowed in a deep voice, “Hu Qi, what in the world were you trying to do!”
He was furious not only that the Sect’s rules had been trampled, but also that he had been deceived by Hu Qi. When he had mentioned Su Chen earlier, Hu Qi had put on such a righteous facade, only to strike from the shadows.
He had no particular impression of Su Chen himself, let alone any hatred for him. He only had some minor reservations due to Su Chen’s status as the chosen one, but they were just that—minor reservations.
After all, Su Chen was still flesh and blood of the Cyan Sect. What Hu Qi did, however, was a violation of the Sect’s rules.
“Wu Feng, what is the penalty for assassinating a Star Seed?” the Ancient King’s voice echoed.
“Immediate execution!” Wu Feng’s gaze was icy, and he answered without a shred of hesitation.
“Ancient King!” Hu Qi cried out, his face pale with horror. He had just looked up when his vision was filled with a green light.
A pillar of verdigris light descended from the sky, enveloping Hu Qi.
There was no fluctuation of Energy, nor was there any sound. When the pillar of light dissipated, only a few wisps of flying ash remained.
Su Chen’s brow twitched. He was completely taken aback. ’He just killed him, just like that?’
’He seemed to be a high-ranking member of the Sect. I thought there would be at least some negotiation for a person like that.’
’I even would have understood if… they hadn’t killed him.’
Lin Langtian’s expression changed slightly. Before today, almost all the information they had received had come through Qing Cang.
No one knew exactly how much weight those two words—Red Sun Disciples—carried, or to what extent the Ancient King would offer his protection.
But now, everyone probably understood.
