’According to what Steward Deng said, the material coefficient of this Tier Four weapon is quite high. You need to be a Tier Five Professional to bring it in or take it out…’
Su Chen hefted the Formless True Edge in his hand, watching it gradually transform into a metal pickaxe. This was an unexpected surprise.
With a mere thought, a suit of Dark Gold Scale Armor materialized on his body, followed by boots and even a mask. He was fully equipped.
Su Chen jumped on the spot. His sense of security increased considerably, and he was quite surprised.
’This Nether Realm is truly special. I originally thought it was a purely illusory world, but Netherworld Stones can be taken out, and physical objects like weapons can exist here. It seems different from what I imagined.’
The Formless True Edge quickly transformed into a long, slender pickaxe. Su Chen looked down at it and couldn’t help but think:
’Once my Spiritual Professions also advance to Tier Five, I’ll be able to upgrade these weapons. The Artifact Hall… That Zhou Yunyang seems to be a Steward of the Artifact Hall.’
A few metal materials wouldn’t be a problem for him. In theory, as long as it wasn’t a large quantity, he could get anything just by showing his face.
Just as he was pondering this, a chill ran down his spine. His Spirit Body felt faintly cold, and he had the distinct feeling of being watched.
Gray mist drifted about, preventing him from seeing very far. He could only vaguely sense that something had locked onto him.
Perhaps because the Flame Fire had just been extinguished, no Netherworld Creatures had appeared yet, even though he was now far from the Sect’s core area.
’According to Steward Feng, the old mining area is almost completely depleted. If I go there again, someone might discover that it’s been worked on.’
He thought for a moment, then looked in another direction where there was a new mineral vein.
However, Steward Feng had only pointed him in a vague direction at the time. He would have to find the exact location himself.
After a moment of contemplation, Su Chen, fully equipped, set off. The buff from his boots increased his speed considerably, and as he zipped along, he came to a new understanding.
’In the Nether Realm, a Spirit Body is just like a physical one. It can even benefit from weapon buffs.’
BANG!
He casually dispatched a charging purple creature that had the emaciated body of a wolf and two heads—one like a lion’s, the other like a tiger’s.
However, each head had only a single eye, with two mouths positioned one above and one below it.
Its Tier was low, only around Tier Two or Three. Struck by the pickaxe, it instantly disintegrated into mist and vanished.
Su Chen had largely become desensitized to the grotesque appearances of these Netherworld Creatures.
The landscape of the Nether Realm was mostly flat, so when Su Chen saw a hazy mountain range emerge in the distance, he stopped.
’That must be it.’
In the distance, a continuous mountain range rose up, most of it hidden within the gray mist. The mist flowed like a slow-moving tide, swirling gently between the mountainsides and valleys. At times it would swallow a ridge, only to reveal a corner of a steep cliff face moments later.
The visible portion was the front of the range, which had a cold, hard, silver-gray texture. It looked as if it were covered in a strange metal, giving off a dull sheen like that of old pewter.
Numerous bizarrely shaped Netherworld Creatures were gathered all around it.
This place was quite far from the core area controlled by the Sect. A large number of the Netherworld Creatures that had originally accumulated here had already been eliminated.
But a continuous stream of Netherworld Creatures still gathered, which was why this area had never been fully put to use.
Su Chen recalled what Steward Feng had said: if the Flame Fire burned day and night without fail, mining here would be no trouble at all. Unfortunately, during the time of the Dark Sun, Netherworld Creatures would reclaim the area.
’If I go over there now, I’ll definitely be eaten alive.’
Su Chen could even see some Netherworld Creatures already staring at him with greedy, covetous eyes.
His Spirit Body began to change. The features on his face vanished, but then quickly reappeared.
However, it had undergone a fundamental transformation. He had mimicked the form of a Faceless Ghost Priest.
His Faceless Ghost Priest form had a special ability that allowed him to mimic others, which naturally meant he could also mimic himself.
’This is a core asset of the Sect, after all. It’s best to be cautious.’
His external body changed at the same time. Outwardly, at least, there wasn’t much of a difference, unless someone were to scan his spirit.
Only after transforming into a Faceless Ghost Priest did Su Chen continue toward the sprawling mountain range. He could clearly see an opening in the rock face that looked like it had been chiseled out, its edges jagged and irregular.
SCREECH!
A harsh cry echoed from the sky. A strange, three-headed bird had been diving toward him, but just as he transformed into a Faceless Ghost Priest, it flapped its wings frantically and wheeled back around in terror.
Some of the Netherworld Creatures gathered around the mountains also seemed startled. A mammoth covered in black eyeballs let out a shriek toward the sky and began stomping away on its six legs.
Su Chen had experienced this before, but he also noticed that a few of the Netherworld Creatures hadn’t moved at all.
The most eye-catching among them was a deformed monster coiled on the mountainside. Two rows of black, clawed limbs lined its underside, a sight that would make anyone’s skin crawl.
It resembled a centipede, but its body was incredibly thick and covered in scales. Its head even had some dragon-like features, and its pair of white eyes swept over him.
Su Chen’s steps faltered, and his heart tightened. This Netherworld Creature’s Tier was not low; it likely possessed more than just fragmented intelligence.
“A Believer of the Faceless God…” an eerie voice sounded in his ear.
Su Chen was silent for a moment. With an indifferent expression, he coldly rebuked, “How dare you speak my Lord’s sacred name directly!”
Hearing Su Chen’s impolite response, the centipede-like Netherworld Creature showed no reaction. It simply averted its gaze, treating him as if he didn’t exist.
