- Chapter 570 Having a Conversation With The President

The President turned and realised that she was in an office, except that it was extremely bigger than any office she had ever seen.
She saw that there were two seating arrangements in the office. The main part, with a glass desk in the middle, an office chair behind it and two single sofas in front of it.
The second seating arrangement was at a far corner of the office, with an L-shaped sofa, two single sofas and a glass table in the middle.
Besides the unique seating arrangements, if she could call them that, and the extraordinary size of the office, there was nothing unique about it.
She noticed that around them was the stark darkness of outer space and the spots of lights, representing celestial bodies.
Liam walked to one of the single sofas at the corner of the room and sat down. Lucy stood beside him, still holding the prepared documents in her hand.
“Don’t keep us waiting. It would be bad if they discover that you’re not in your office,” Liam said.
“Not that they would. We already took care of that,” he added.
“What did you do?” The President asked, fearing for the worst.
Liam scoffed in amusement when he saw the dreadful look on her face.
“Don’t worry. You will find out when you return. So, are you going to keep us waiting or are you going to come and take your seat so that we can begin our conversation,” he said.
The President looked at Liam for a moment before slowly walking towards him. As she walked, she observed her surroundings, trying to understand exactly what was happening, but everything around her was so overwhelming that she felt she would need a week before she could fully absorb it.
“Did you really take me to those places or was I here all along?” She asked, as she took her seat on the L-shaped sofa.
“What do you think? Did I?” Liam threw the question back at her.
“I think you did,” she replied.
“It doesn’t really matter. Either way, the message was passed, wasn’t it?” Liam asked.
The President said nothing, choosing not to reply.
Liam noticed but didn’t care.
“Now, let’s get down to the actual reason why I wanted to see you,” he said, reaching out his hand to Lucy. She placed the document in it.
He placed the document on the glass table between them and pushed it towards her.
“What is this?” She asked, looking at the document folder suspiciously.
“Open it and go through it,” Liam replied.
The President looked at him for a moment, thought of pushing back but quickly decided against it. She was equally curious about what the document folder contained.
She picked it up and took out a couple of clipped files from it. She placed the now empty document folder down and started going through the files in her hands.
A few minutes later, she slowly placed the files on the glass table. She was angry inwardly at what she had read but did her best to control her emotions and not let it show.
She now understood why Liam had brought her here, but she had no idea what he wanted.
“Now that you’re done reading, I can tell you my demand,” Liam said, unbothered by the determined expression on the President’s face.
“What do you want?” She asked.
“I will give you and your administration a chance to redeem yourselves. Reprimand the individuals in the list for their crimes, giving them the worst possible sentence,” Liam replied.
“That’s all?” the President asked, in confusion.
“No. You have three days,” Liam added.
“What do you mean I have three days?” She asked, with a mix of shock and confusion.
“Exactly what I said. Bring them to justice for their crimes, giving them the maximum legal sentence for each crime, and everything must be done within 72 hours,” Liam said.
There was a brief silence as the President processed what this meant and whether it was even possible.
The truth was that while they could bring the individuals listed in the files to justice for their crimes, as Liam had requested, there was no guarantee they would receive maximum legal sentences.
Actually, the whole thing was near impossible because of the 72-hour deadline.
The individuals listed in the files were not ordinary people. They were people with connections in Congress and other arms of government. They would need to be investigated, and that was another difficult part of the whole thing.
The President understood that what Liam actually wanted was for her to have the FBI and other agencies pluck these individuals from wherever they were and throw them into jail.
She couldn’t help but wonder why Liam was doing this. Had the individuals made a move on him or someone close to him?
She felt it was possible given the documents in front of her. But still, there was a process to these things, and she wasn’t about to abandon it because someone had dragged her above the White House.
“I’m sorry but this won’t be possible. If you really want them brought to justice, I will take the files to the CIA and FBI and tell them to investigate and take appropriate action,” she said, in a matter-of-fact tone.
Liam smiled when he heard this. He had been expecting it, so he wasn’t surprised. He would have actually been disappointed if she had easily agreed.
“I think I forgot to mention the part about this not being a request,” he smiled and continued. “Every action has a corresponding consequence, good or bad.”
“What will happen if we are unable to get it done within 72 hours?” The President asked.
“Well, that’s the interesting part. Remember the active volcano? There are quite a few of them like that around the world. I wonder how long you stay in office when I start dropping those individuals off there. How you will be able to handle the federal cold cases that will start popping up,” Liam said and paused for a moment.
He tapped the glass table and it started displaying information. He tapped on a folder and multiple images of different but very familiar people, with information beside them, started flashing across the table.
“I won’t stop with just them. I have a folder with the crimes of everyone currently holding any form of governmental position, and those who have held any in the past hundred years. Including you,” Liam added.
“So, what is it going to be?” Liam asked, as he leaned back on the sofa.
