My Werewolf System - Chapter 1826 Tower Land (Part 2)

Chapter 1826 Tower Land (Part 2)
Lupus was traveling near the rear of the convoy, though not quite at the very back. Because he was currently unable to transform and lacked his usual monstrous strength, the other vehicles were positioned in a protective formation around him. He wasn’t alone in his vulnerability; right by his side were Luzen and Slit.
Although Luzen would have been a greater help to the front lines even without his bow, both he and Slit had been part of the Iron Fang with Lupus in the past. Their loyalty ran deep, and they wanted to ensure that their former leader was safe during this final charge. As the cars approached the wide, open plaza of the theme park, Lupus stuck his head out of the window, squinting through the dust and the red haze. He could finally see him, Unzoku was standing there, waiting.
“He looks different compared to before,” Lupus commented, his voice low and heavy with concern.
He noticed that Unzoku’s physical frame had grown significantly larger in size. The muscular saturation visible through his fur, which had previously appeared light and fuzzy, now possessed a dark, angry tint of red. It made Lupus wonder if this was a permanent evolution of his biology or simply a temporary, volatile boost in power caused by the staggering amount of Gluttons he had consumed. Regardless of the cause, one thing was certain: Unzoku had fully healed.
All the devastating damage Lupus had dealt during their previous encounter was gone. Every wound had been knit back together by the sheer caloric intake of his own kind. Seeing the vast ocean of blood staining the floor of the park, Lupus realized Unzoku must have already eaten hundreds of Gluttons, showing no regard for the lives he was extinguishing to fuel his own. There were no bodies left behind in the plaza because every single part of the werewolves had been consumed.
It wasn’t just Lupus who could feel and see this change; every fighter in the convoy could sense the oppressive aura radiating from the center of Tower Land.
“If I have to bite with these human jaws in the end to kill you, I’ll do what I have to,” Lupus muttered, his resolve hardening. “But Gary, Kai… the two of you need to do your part in this.”
As the vehicles sped toward Unzoku’s position, it was time for the Alphas to act. The side doors of the lead SUVs slid open with a metallic hiss, and both Gary and Kai climbed up onto the rooftops of the moving cars, bracing themselves against the wind.
“You two, take him out!” Park shouted from the driver’s seat. He started to hammer away on the horn, the blaring sound acting as a signal for the other cars to veer off. The convoy swerved to the side, clearing a direct path for the lead vehicle.
Even in moving to the side, the maneuver was chaotic. Several cars crashed into swarming Glutton werewolves that refused to move. Some of the vehicles halted after only a few meters due to the sheer physical strength of the creatures. One group of Gluttons even managed to lift a car entirely off the ground, throwing it into a nearby theme park ride with a deafening crash.
Just as Kai had warned, they had to stay focused on what was ahead of them. Standing on the roof of the speeding car, both Kai and Gary began to gather their power. Qi began to flood into their bodies, reacting with the black and golden-trimmed armor that Lupus had meticulously crafted for this very moment. Both of them felt a surge of energy through every fiber of their being.
Kai drew the two swords from his back, allowing his Qi to flow through the blades, the weapons humming with a resonant power. Beside him, Gary gripped the war hammer, its weight feeling like a natural extension of his arm.
“Haha! Haha! Where’s the third one?” Unzoku roared, lifting both of his hands. “I wanted to repay him for what he did.”
A swirling, red mystic energy started to gather around him. Rather than just circling his body, the mist began to thicken into a veil, forming a massive, spectral silhouette behind him. It looked like a larger, more demonic version of Unzoku was standing at his back. It was a manifestation similar to the skills Gary drew from his hammer, but far more ancient and twisted. As Unzoku stretched his hands out, his deadly claws looked twice their original size.
“Don’t jump yet! I’m going to keep going!” Park shouted, flooring the accelerator.
At the very last second, Park leapt out of the driver’s side door, diving and rolling across the pavement. The driverless car continued its trajectory, crashing right into Unzoku’s body. The impact did next to nothing; he didn’t even shift his feet, looking up at the two figures leaping from the roof of the wreck.
Gary drew out the full power of his armor and hammer, while Kai did the same with his twin blades. They swung their weapons down with a collective roar, aiming for Unzoku’s head. Unzoku met them halfway, swinging both of his mist-shrouded hands to crush them both in a single strike.
The collision of their massive powers created a giant wave of energy that burst outward in a visible ripple. The ground rumbled as the shockwave pushed the accelerating cars backward and knocked those closest, both Howlers and Gluttons, clean off their feet.
Unzoku skidded backward from the force of the impact, his claws leaving deep gouges in the concrete. Both Kai and Gary landed on their feet, weapons at the ready, skidding back as they braced against the recoil of their own attack.
“Unzoku!” Gary screamed, his eyes glowing with a fierce, unwavering light. “You will pay for everything you have done! As long as I’m still breathing, I won’t let you rest on this earth!”
