They had left together, so it was strange that only Shin had returned. Where had Yoruichi gone?

“Yoruichi stayed behind at the Fourth Division. She claims she wants to learn swordsmanship from Unohana Retsu. Let’s see how long she lasts.”

“What, you find it hard to believe?” Shin asked, noting Soi Fon’s bewildered expression.

Soi Fon nodded. It was indeed hard to swallow… Her lady, Yoruichi, studying under a rival? Yes, Yoruichi and Unohana were definitely rivals.

“You’re not the only one. Even I find it a bit hard to believe,” Shin said with a chuckle.

It wasn’t just little Soi Fon—Shin was just as baffled by the turn of events.

“Shin-sama, aren’t you worried they’ll start fighting again?” Soi Fon felt that Shin should probably be there to supervise.

“I wanted to stay, but I got kicked out,” Shin said grumpily.

Those two women had practically thrown him out. No matter what he said, they wouldn’t listen.

“Alright, enough about them. Let’s continue your training.”

Shin said to Soi Fon. The stronger Soi Fon became, the less Shin would have to do himself. If trouble arose in the future, he could just send Soi Fon to handle it.

Soi Fon felt a pang of guilt. She had indeed been so focused on training that she had forgotten about Lady Yoruichi.

“I apologize, Lady Yoruichi,” Soi Fon said, bowing her head.

“I’m not targeting you,” Yoruichi said to Soi Fon, her tone softening slightly.

She really wasn’t aiming her frustration at Soi Fon.

“Not targeting Soi Fon… so you’re targeting me then?” Shin raised an eyebrow and asked.

“Heh, so you realized? That’s right, I am targeting you. What are you going to do about it?” Yoruichi shot him a glare, her tone provocative.

“What can I do? I’m just curious how your training is going. Any progress? Based on my estimation of you, I’m guessing… zero progress?”

Shin asked with a smile. Hearing his question, Yoruichi’s face flushed with embarrassment.

It was true—Yoruichi had worked incredibly hard. Even Unohana Retsu admitted that Yoruichi was putting in the effort. Before this, Unohana had assumed Yoruichi was just joking around.

But seeing Yoruichi’s dedication, even Unohana was surprised.

However, effort was one thing—results were another. To be honest, the improvement in her strength was negligible.

Yoruichi’s talent for the blade was simply atrocious.

Even Unohana felt she couldn’t teach her. It was as if Yoruichi simply lacked the necessary wiring in her brain for swordsmanship.

Other than that, she hadn’t proven anything. Yoruichi just wasn’t suited for the sword. Her true strengths lay in Shunpo and Hakuda.

Frankly, there was no need for her to try and improve in an area she was naturally terrible at. It would only drag down her overall combat potential. She had spent a long time here, but her actual combat strength hadn’t increased at all.

Shin’s question sent Yoruichi into a spiral of depression.

In the end, she didn’t answer him. Since it was too embarrassing to admit, she chose silence.

Although Yoruichi didn’t speak, her silence told Shin everything he needed to know about her Kendo training. It hadn’t exceeded his expectations in the slightest.

Everything was exactly as Shin had predicted—he had known from the start that Yoruichi was never meant to wield a sword.
