Chapter 2860: The Monkey IV

The monkey beasts suddenly became agitated at the sudden appearance of the Rakshasa. This Rakshasa is very familiar to them because he usually works as a bounty hunter. One would think that Rakshasa will not work for any of the gods in the southern continent because of their problems but that is just a surface level assessment of the dynamics here. Even gods can put aside their differences when they need work to be done.

“Nukeela! How did you find us?!” Hanu shouted as he stood up since he already recovered sufficiently.

“I already have your scent mastered and you will not be able to escape my grasps, monkey boy. Now, come with me or else I will slice off your feet to make sure that it happens. My employer wants you alive for what will happen to you.” Nukeela stated as he will be paid with divine energy if he brings forth Hanu.

“Did you really think that I will come with you without any questions asked?! You can come and collect me over my dead body!” Hanu shouted as he slammed the ground.

Hanu slamming the ground created a shockwave that traveled in a straight line directly towards Nukeela. Seeing the sudden attack, Nukeela brandished his two sword gauntlets and slashed at the shockwave. One would think that slicing up force would be impossible but the Rakshasa before Hanu was able to do so with ease.

When Nukeela finished slicing up the shockwave and clearing up the smoke, he suddenly found himself alone in the cavern. The sudden smoke and debris that arose from the attack that Hanu did was able to create a smokescreen for him and the monkey beasts to escape. Nukeela roared with anger as the demi human escaped once again but his anger soon subsided.

“Did you really think that you can escape my nose? In a place where your most previous scent lingers?! I shall track you down and kill all of those monkey beasts to teach you a valuable lesson on being prey.” Nukeela stated as he suddenly dropped to the ground and his body started to morph.

Nukeela’s bones suddenly started to crack and rearrange as his entire body changed in form. He was in a humanoid form earlier where he is bipedal and has the head of a sabretooth tiger. Now, Nukeela shifted his form to that of a real sabretooth tiger and more ferocious than a real one. With a deep inhale, Nukeela locked in on the scent of Hanu and immediately ran towards the direction where they have escaped.

Adrian, on the other hand, is easily tracking the movements of Hanu but is taking his time as he is searching for a place in the latter’s path where there would be no escape routes. They were able to escape earlier because the mountain peaks are a great way to obscure vision and it favors those that have great agility and flexibility to move on legs. He did not expect that Hanu would have reinforcements which are monsters.

“I should have thought that those monsters moved too uniformly. I should have been able to easily block their sudden attempt at a rescue. I guess I have been too careless and confident on my abilities. If there is no killing intent, I do not raise my guard around it.” Adrian muttered as he started contemplating.

Just as Adrian is following the trail of the soul fragment of the monkey king, he suddenly felt the immense bloodlust of another being. This being has a soul that is akin to a divine being yet somewhat twisted. He already encountered beings with this soul and instantly changed his demeanor in chasing Hanu.

The killing intent was not directed at Adrian but directed at Hanu based on his observations. The killing intent pointed to the current direction Hanu was escaping from. The only problem now is the fact that the place Hanu is going should be a wide plain area. It would be incredibly difficult to pull off the stunt that the monkey beasts did to escape in a place where there are no obstructions.

“Let us just hope that he will be alive when I get there. I now know why Yama is showing up quite early because there is a chance a being will die.” Adrian thought as he unfurled all of his wings and flew at an even greater speed than before.

One might think that a god or goddess of death only comes when one dies but that is not the case. There are certain cases where beings are only at the brink of death and there is no absolute certainty that they will die. In cases like this, the god or goddess of death will simply wait and observe. If Hanu was certain to die then Yama would have fought against Adrian for trying to help a soul that is already bound to die.

“I should have suspected it when he did not even put up a fight. It is one of those special cases that even a god or goddess of death is not certain of the being’s death.” Adrian stated he even cast Temporal Acceleration on himself to the fullest.

Hanu and the monkey beasts could be seen escaping at full speed but even their speed is not certain in mountainous regions. A slip of the foot can spell certain death and these mountains where they are hiding is infamous for such tragedies. This is the reason why Nukeela has already caught up to them in his quadruped form.

Hanu and the monkey beasts could feel Nukeela’s killing intent directed at them and made their skin crawl. The Rakshasa did not even bother to hide it as he will really kill every one of them. There is even a hint of madness in Nukeela’s eyes which means that he will certainly create carnage as that is what Rakshasas are known for when they are already afflicted with madness.

“Ugh Ugh!” One of the monkey beasts warned as they were now entering an area where there is only grassland and that is not a place where they should be.

An open area where there is only grassland will hinder the abilities of monkey beasts by a lot. Monkey beasts are known for their dexterity and mobility in spaces that are heavily structured but that all vanishes in an area where a tree is not in sight. On the other hand, Nukeela is specialized in fights where there are no obstructions as his speed and power can be unleashed without being hindered by structures.

“Nowhere to run, monkey boy. I will make sure to kill all of your minions before I slice off your legs.” Nukeela stated which made Hanu freeze.

“Oh! Are you finally surrendering? Too bad, I will need to satisfy my craving for blood which is why step aside as I kill all of your minions.” Nukeela stated as he suddenly aimed for one of the monkey beasts that was slightly injured by him earlier.

Nukeela thought that Hanu has already forfeited his life which is why he stopped since the former saw the open plains. This is not the case though as the next thing that Nukeela saw is the gada which is Hanu’s weapon next to his face. A loud smack could be heard as the gada directly hit the face of the rakshasa which sent him barreling on the ground for a few meters.

“YOU DARE!” Nukeela shouted as he immediately controlled his tumbling body to stand up.

“They are not my minions, hunter. They are my family and just like what Safed did back then to the hunter that dared to kill and imprison them… I shall do the same to you.” Hanu shouted as he started to push forth the power that he got from his fusion with Safed.

“That Rakshasa that you killed back then was not even a full pledge hunter like me. Do you think that a castaway like that would be the same level as me? What you merely defeated back then is a pitiful excuse of a rag. I shall show you how fierce a true hunter is!” Nukeela stated as his body suddenly became illusory.

Hanu darted his eyes around as he could only follow a blurry silhouette because Nukeela has become so quick that his eyes cannot follow. The next thing that Hanu saw is one of the monkey beasts getting claw marks on its body. It was not just one monkey beast but all of them suddenly got huge claw marks on their bodies which made them bleed out.

“Everyone!” Hanu shouted as he could only see his friends drop on the ground with pain from bleeding out.

“This is why I told you that the hunter you killed back then is just a castaway. This is what a real hunter can do!” Nukeela stated near Hanu’s ear but the former was not there when the latter swung his gada behind him.
