Chapter 230: Chapter 230: Emilia’s Attack, Leon’s Rating Is…
Leon eventually reached the line forming in front of the [Divine Stele], stepping into place with Celeste and Emilia standing right beside him as they waited for their turn.
Fwoosh!
[B-Rank]
Fwoosh!
[A-Rank]
One after another, players stepped forward, placing their hands on the stele and receiving their rankings, the results appearing in flashes of light that quickly faded as the next person took their place.
Emilia watched quietly for a while before speaking.
“Is it just me, or are there way more high rankings than before,” she said, her tone thoughtful, “I haven’t seen anyone below C-Rank yet.”
“It’s not just you,” Leon replied calmly, his eyes still fixed on the stele, “Players at this stage take more time to build their [Combat Power] and improve their skills before attempting the assessment, since the rewards depend heavily on the rank they get.”
That alone made a huge difference.
Instead of rushing forward unprepared, most players chose to grind, to grow stronger, to push themselves as far as they could before stepping into something as important as this.
And because of that, the average level of strength here was much higher.
Which also meant that the players who had already advanced beyond this point, into the second half of the [Higher Domains], were often far more terrifying than most people could imagine.
And in places like the [Eternal Battlefield], where chaos and death were constant, that difference only became more extreme.
Still, even with all of that, even after dozens if not hundreds of players took their turn, not a single one of them received an S-Rank.
The difficulty of that level was simply too high.
Even for those who had prepared extensively, it remained out of reach.
There were plenty of A-Ranks. A good number of B-Ranks. But nothing beyond that.
Until eventually, it was Emilia’s turn.
She stepped forward without hesitation, her expression calm and unreadable as she approached the [Divine Stele].
“Wow, look at that robe, it looks powerful.”
“She’s so pretty…”
Whispers spread among the surrounding players as they noticed her, their attention drawn not only to her appearance but also to the aura she carried.
But Emilia ignored all of it. Without even sparing them a glance, she simply placed her hand on the [Divine Stele].
And—
Ding!
[S-Rank]
For a brief moment, everything froze.
It had been many hours, with thousands of players going through their ratings.
And not a single one had achieved that rank. Until now.
Every head turned. Even those who had been in the middle of fighting stopped, their attention drawn toward the radiant light emanating from the stele.
“Holy shit…”
“S-Rank? I thought only the strongest people could get that!”
“I heard only individuals from Eternal-Level worlds can even pass that…”
Shock spread instantly, whispers turning into loud reactions as people struggled to process what they had just witnessed.
And among them—
A group of elf players quickly moved forward, approaching Emilia with clear intent, their expressions eager as they stood in front of her.
“Hey, if you want to—”
“Not interested,” Emilia cut them off immediately, her voice cold and firm as she tightened her grip on her scepter, “Move.”
The sudden shift in her tone made them hesitate, and the aura she released at that moment made it clear that she wasn’t someone they could casually approach.
Even so, one of them still opened his mouth, full of arrogance.
“Huh… do you really wanna stay with this filthy human—”
But before he could even finish his sentence, Emilia lifted her scepter.
Silk Bind!
Before any of them could even react to what was happening, Emilia’s skill had already been unleashed.
Threads of shimmering silk erupted outward from the tip of her scepter with incredible speed as they spread through the air like living strands.
They wrapped around every single elf that had approached her in an instant, binding their arms, legs, and torsos so tightly that they were completely immobilized before they even had the chance to resist.
The suddenness of it left them stunned, their expressions shifting from arrogance to shock in less than a second as they struggled against the bindings.
Only to realize that no matter how much strength they used, their bodies refused to move even an inch, as if the silk itself had fused with them and locked them in place.
The power behind [Silk Bind] was not something ordinary players could deal with easily, especially not when it was used by someone like Emilia, whose [Spirit] had already reached an absurd level.
It made the skill far more potent than it should normally be, to the point where breaking free through brute force alone was almost impossible for anyone below a certain threshold.
’I didn’t even give her the spirit enhancement sub-talent yet,’ Leon thought as he watched the scene unfold, a faint smile appearing on his face, ’If I had done that, escaping would’ve been even more impossible.’
Even he, with all his current strength, could tell that getting caught in that skill without reacting in time would be troublesome.
Not impossible to escape from, but definitely something that would require effort, which only made it more impressive considering how effortlessly Emilia had used it.
Of course, there were still ways to deal with the binds, such as cutting through them before they fully wrapped around the body or simply avoiding them altogether.
But that required either awareness or speed, neither of which the elves had shown in that moment.
Now restrained, the group of elf players could do nothing but struggle uselessly, their attempts to break free amounting to nothing as the silk held them firmly in place, their earlier confidence completely shattered.
If Emilia wanted to kill them right there, in front of everyone, there was nothing they could do to stop her. And everyone watching knew it.
Yet despite that overwhelming advantage, Emilia didn’t even bother to follow up with another action.
Instead lowering her scepter slightly and turning around as if what she had just done wasn’t worth her time.
Her expression was calm as she walked back toward Leon without sparing the immobilized players another glance.
“I got an S-Rank rating,” she said with a bright smile as she looked at him, the contrast between her cheerful tone and what she had just done moments ago making the situation feel even more surreal, “I wonder how hard this one’s going to be!”
“I don’t know,” Leon replied honestly, his expression neutral as he gave his answer without trying to guess, “But it’ll definitely be difficult.”
He truly had no idea what the S-Rank assessment of the [Expert Divine Temple] would involve.
Which was precisely why he had taken the time earlier to observe the environment outside.
Whatever awaited them inside, though, with his current strength nearing one million [Combat Power], he felt confident that he would be able to handle it.
Or at least, that was the plan.
Right after Emilia, Celeste stepped forward without hesitation, her expression focused as she approached the [Divine Stele] and placed her hand on it.
Fwoosh!
[S-Rank]
Leon let out a small breath as he saw the result, nodding slightly in approval.
“Phew, I was worried she might end up with an A-Rank,” he admitted quietly, knowing that Celeste’s [Combat Power] was still lower than theirs overall, even though her offensive capabilities were extremely high.
And just like before, the reaction from the surrounding players was immediate, shock spreading across the crowd as they witnessed a second S-Rank appear right after the first, something that never happened.
This time, however, no one dared to approach her.
The sight of the elf players still trapped in Emilia’s bindings, struggling helplessly without any way to escape, was more than enough to discourage anyone from trying their luck.
Especially since the elf girl and phoenix seemed to be together.
And finally, it was Leon’s turn.
Without hesitation, he stepped forward, his movements calm and controlled as he approached the [Divine Stele].
The moment he did, the atmosphere around him shifted slightly as every single player present turned their attention toward him, their instincts reacting to the sheer presence he carried.
They could feel it: the pressure and power.
Even those who considered themselves strong felt a chill run down their spine as they looked at him, their bodies instinctively recognizing that the person standing in front of the stele was on an entirely different level.
Leon didn’t pay any attention to them.
He simply raised his hand and placed it on the [Divine Stele], channeling his energy into it without hesitation.
And then—
Fwoosh… BOOM!
A blinding light erupted from the stele, far brighter than anything that had appeared before.
It forced many players to shield their eyes as the entire chamber seemed to tremble slightly, several loud booms echoing throughout the divine temple as the reaction spread outward.
Leon immediately understood what that meant even before the result appeared.
And a moment later, the panel formed in front of everyone.
[God-Rank]
“God damn it,” Leon muttered under his breath, “Should have expected that.”
