Chapter 253: Chapter 253: Killing The Fire Silk Spider, Leon’s Idea
Slash after slash rang out across the shattered street as the [Forsaken General] and the [Fire Silk Spider] continued their brutal clash.
Neither of them willing to yield even as their bodies were pushed closer and closer to their limits.
Their attacks were growing heavier, slower, yet somehow even more dangerous as the buildings around them began to crack under the pressure of their battle, pieces of stone breaking apart and falling as the very ground trembled beneath their weight.
The general moved with ruthless precision despite the damage it had already taken, its massive sword cutting through the air in wide arcs as it pressed forward relentlessly.
While the spider responded with violent swipes of its remaining legs, flames intertwining around its body as it tried to keep the monster in front of it at bay.
Yet the difference in experience and control was becoming more and more obvious with every passing second.
Then, in a single decisive motion, the general stepped forward and brought its blade down with overwhelming force, the strike clean and merciless as it severed three of the spider’s remaining legs at once.
The massive creature let out a distorted screech as its balance collapsed, its body trembling as it struggled to remain upright.
At that point, it was obvious that the spider was nearing its end, while the general, despite the visible damage to its armor and the cracks spreading across its body, still stood firm, its presence unshaken.
And yet, just as the general raised its sword once more, clearly preparing to end the fight with a final blow, Leon moved.
He had been watching everything carefully from the side, waiting for the exact moment when both monsters were fully committed.
When neither of them would be able to react perfectly, and the instant that opening appeared, he took it without hesitation.
Crescent Slash!
Power gathered at the edge of his blade as he swung it forward with all the force he could muster, releasing a sharp crescent of energy that cut through the air at high speed, the attack carrying not only his raw strength but also the added power of his [Blood Heart Blessing], making it far more dangerous than a normal strike.
The reaction from the two bosses was immediate, both of them snapping their attention toward the incoming attack as their instincts kicked in.
The general lowered its stance instantly, ducking under the attack with precise timing.
While the [Fire Silk Spider] reacted differently, creating a dense barrier of silk in front of its body, the threads layering over one another to absorb the impact as it simultaneously shifted its position to the side, minimizing the damage even further.
From the outside, it looked like Leon’s attack had failed entirely, both targets avoiding it without taking any real damage.
And for a brief second, it seemed like he had only managed to draw their attention toward himself without gaining anything in return.
Their auras flared almost instantly after that, both the general and the spider turning fully toward him.
Their hostility was now completely focused on the human who had interfered in their fight.
However, Leon had never intended for the attack to hit them directly.
Behind the two bosses, the crescent of energy continued its path without slowing down, slicing cleanly into the structure of a nearby building.
The energy cutting through its foundation as if it were nothing, creating a deep, unstable fracture that spread across the entire base of the structure.
For a split second, nothing happened. Then the sound came.
A deep, cracking noise echoed through the area as the building began to collapse, the damage too severe for it to remain standing as its entire structure gave in.
Only when they heard that sound did the general and the spider realize what had just happened, both of them turning their heads slightly, their reactions just a fraction too late.
The general immediately tried to move out of the way, its body shifting with impressive speed despite its injuries.
But even then, it couldn’t escape entirely as part of the collapsing structure caught it, the weight crashing down and burying it under layers of rubble.
The spider, on the other hand, had no such chance.
Its larger body and reduced mobility made escape impossible, and even though it attempted to form another defensive layer of silk, the sheer weight and impact of the falling building overwhelmed it completely.
Leon had already moved back the moment the building began to fall, creating distance between himself and the impact zone.
His eyes were locked onto the collapsing structure as the ground shook violently from the force of the crash.
The sound of destruction echoed for several seconds before finally fading, leaving behind a massive pile of rubble where the two bosses had stood just moments ago.
For a brief moment, everything went still.
Then—
Ding!
[You have killed “Fire Silk Spider (Boss)”]
A small smile appeared on Leon’s face as he heard the notification, the confirmation clear as the system acknowledged his kill.
The plan working exactly as he had intended.
“Yeah… that worked better than expected,” he muttered, letting out a short breath as the tension in his body eased slightly.
[100% Drop Rate has triggered…]
Beep!
[Unfortunately, your “Storage Space” is full so the remaining items will drop on the corpse.]
That made his expression twitch slightly as he glanced at the mountain of debris in front of him.
It would be very annoying to retrieve anything from under all of that, especially considering how many items he had already accumulated from the knights he had killed earlier.
Still, that wasn’t the main problem.
Because the notification he was waiting for didn’t come.
There was no message announcing the death of the [Forsaken General].
Which meant only one thing.
“…You’ve got to be kidding me,” Leon muttered under his breath, his eyes narrowing as he stared at the rubble.
It was still alive.
Instead of wasting time waiting, Leon immediately opened his [Storage Space], focusing on the one thing he could do quickly without exposing himself too much.
[Forsaken Knight Essence x39]
“Only thirty-nine…” he clicked his tongue, clearly annoyed, though he didn’t hesitate as he started consuming them one after the other, the energy flowing into his body as his strength steadily increased.
[+1,170 Strength.]
The boost was noticeable, his muscles tightening slightly as the added power settled within him.
Though even with that, he knew it wasn’t enough to completely bridge the gap between him and the general.
And right as that thought crossed his mind—
Rumble!
The rubble where the general was began to shift.
