Chapter 263: Chapter 263: Descending Into The Mother’s Chamber
DEMONIC FLAMES!
Before any of them made the decision to jump into the massive hole leading to the depths below, Violet didn’t rush things.
Instead she chose to secure their descent in the most straightforward and overwhelming way possible, lifting her head slightly as her aura gathered once more, condensing into a blazing mass of multicolored fire that burned far brighter than anything they had seen on the surface.
With a single motion, she unleashed it downward.
The flames surged into the hole like a torrent, expanding as they descended, covering the entire interior from wall to wall as they rushed toward the bottom, burning through every strand of silk they touched, reducing it to nothing in mere seconds while illuminating the darkness below with a violent glow.
The sheer intensity of the attack made it clear that this wasn’t just a precaution, because Violet understood something very important about what waited beneath them.
Even if the fall itself wouldn’t kill them, the real danger came after.
If the [Mother] had any level of intelligence, then it wouldn’t simply wait for an enemy to land and fight fairly.
The moment they reached the bottom, she could trap them instantly using her silk, or launch an ambush from every direction before they could even stabilize themselves.
That kind of situation would be fatal.
But now, after that wave of flames, the entire path was cleared, and more importantly, the spiders below would be forced to hesitate, unsure if another blast would follow, making them far less likely to act recklessly.
Violet lowered her head slightly, a faint smile forming on her lips as she turned toward the others.
“Well,” she said calmly, her voice steady despite everything, “let’s go kill that spider.”
Fwoosh!
Without waiting for any kind of response, she stepped forward and jumped into the hole, her figure disappearing into the darkness almost instantly as she descended.
Godrick followed right after her, not even bothering to think twice as he leapt in with a grin, clearly eager for what was coming next.
Alicar went next, his expression focused as he moved without hesitation, trusting Violet’s judgment completely.
That left Leon and Oasis standing at the edge.
“…Are you going in?” Oasis asked, turning her head slightly to look at him, her tone calm but curious, “It must feel a little scary, right?”
Leon smirked faintly at that, his expression relaxed despite the situation.
“Not really,” he replied casually, “I’ve faced worse.”
And he wasn’t exaggerating.
Compared to what he had experienced in the [Eternal Domain], or the sheer terror of facing something like the [God of Eternity], this situation didn’t even come close.
The scale of power he had seen before was on a completely different level, something that could wipe out this entire city without effort.
Oasis simply smiled at his response, clearly not taking it too seriously.
“Sure you have,” she said lightly.
Then, without wasting more time, she turned away and jumped into the hole as well.
At the same moment, she activated another one of her inventions, and a pair of sleek metallic wings unfolded from her back, stabilizing her descent as they glowed faintly with energy, allowing her to glide downward smoothly instead of falling freely.
Leon watched her for a second.
’That’s the fifth one,’ he noted silently, keeping track of all the inventions she had.
Then his gaze shifted.
For a brief moment, he looked toward the direction of the [Forsaken Castle], which wasn’t that far from where they were now, its looming presence still visible even from this distance, standing as the final objective of this entire trial.
’…I’ll kill the [Mother], take everything here, deal with the [Forsaken Minotaur], and then finish this,’ Leon thought calmly, a faint smile forming on his lips as his eyes sharpened, ’No matter what it takes.’
Fwoosh!
And just like that, he stepped forward and jumped.
The descent was long. Longer than expected.
Leon fell for what felt like nearly thirty seconds, the walls of the hole rushing past him as the faint light from above disappeared completely, replaced by darkness that grew deeper and heavier the further he went.
It became clear very quickly just how deep this place truly was, the [Mother’s Area] extended far beneath the surface of the city itself, hidden away in a place where no one could reach her easily.
Eventually, the bottom came into view.
And as expected, none of them were reckless enough to simply crash into the ground from that height.
Violet spread her wings near the end of her fall, slowing herself effortlessly before landing smoothly.
Alicar fired a wind-infused arrow downward, the force pushing against him just enough to reduce his speed before he touched the ground.
Godrick, as usual, chose the most direct approach, smashing his fist into the wall repeatedly to slow himself down until he could land safely.
Oasis glided down with her metallic wings, descending with perfect control.
And Leon…
Vines of Torment!
He raised his staff as he fell, and instantly, dozens of vines burst out from the walls around him, wrapping around his body and extending outward, anchoring themselves into the stone as they tightened, slowing his descent bit by bit.
More vines spread beneath him, forming a dense web that caught him at the last moment, absorbing the remaining force before gently lowering him onto the ground.
The moment his feet touched the surface—
Ding!
[You have entered the “Mother’s Chamber”]
[Warning: Your “Combat Power” is not fit to battle this entity, hide and pray for your soul.]
Leon barely even reacted to the warning.
’I’ll be fine,’ he dismissed it instantly.
Then he lifted his head and looked around. The place they had entered was massive.
A huge underground chamber stretched out before them, its walls made of stone but completely covered in thick, dark silk that clung to every surface, giving the entire area an unnatural, suffocating atmosphere.
Tunnels spread out in every direction, countless openings carved into the walls like a nest, and within them, faint crimson lights flickered.
Eyes. Dozens. No… hundreds. Watching.
And at the very back of the chamber…
“She’s here.” Violet’s voice broke the silence.
Leon followed her gaze. There, inside the largest tunnel of all, was the [Mother].
Her body was enormous, far larger than any spider they had seen so far, easily reaching around twenty meters in size, her form covered in a mix of deep purple and shifting darkness that made her look almost unreal.
Her eyes were closed. She was still. Sleeping.
But even in that state, her presence alone was overwhelming.
And surrounding her… Hundreds of spiders. Her children.
“Krkrkr!”
“Kraakk!”
The creatures clicked and screeched, their movements erratic as their aggression spiked instantly the moment the group appeared, their madness reaching a level far beyond anything seen on the surface.
Out there, they hunted for food.
But here… They didn’t think. They existed only to kill.
SKREEEEE!
A deafening screech echoed through the chamber as more spiders poured out of the tunnels, their numbers increasing rapidly, surrounding the group from all sides.
And then, the [Mother] moved.
Slowly, her massive body lifted, her presence expanding as she awakened, reacting to the disturbance in her domain.
“OASIS!” Violet shouted sharply, urgency clear in her voice for the first time, “NOW!”
Godrick and Alicar stepped forward immediately, positioning themselves at the front as the first wave of spiders reached them, both of them unleashing their power without holding back, striking down anything that came close in order to hold the line.
It was obvious. This wasn’t a random fight. This was planned.
The group of players hadn’t come here without a plan.
And Oasis… She was the key, it seemed.
While the others held the line, she stepped forward, her expression focused as she brought her hands together, gathering her energy before pulling something massive out of her storage.
Fwoosh!
A large construct appeared on the ground. A massive cannon.
Nearly four meters long, its surface smooth and white, yet radiating an immense aura that made it clear this was no ordinary invention.
“The [Destruction Cannon],” Oasis said quickly, glancing at Leon as she spoke, “It drains a huge amount of my energy, takes time to charge, and I can only use it once per week… but it’s incredibly powerful. My second strongest creation.”
Leon’s eyes narrowed slightly as he felt the energy coming from it.
He didn’t need an explanation to understand how dangerous that thing was.
Oasis positioned the cannon, aiming it directly at the [Mother], then activated it.
Instantly, the weapon began to hum, energy gathering at the barrel as it started charging, the air around it distorting slightly under the pressure.
That was the window. The moment of vulnerability.
If the [Mother] fully awakened before it fired… Everything would fall apart.
Meanwhile, Leon remained where he was, observing everything carefully, his mind already analyzing every detail of the situation.
’Six inventions revealed… and this is only her second strongest…’ he thought, a faint smile forming on his lips.
Around them, the chaos intensified. Spiders kept coming. The pressure kept building.
And the cannon… Was still charging.
