Reborn as the Genius Son of the Richest Family - Chapter 1161 Suspicion disproven

These two people, along with several more, were the ones responsible for the Nascent Influence that had been spread around New Sparta.
They made sure to stop the spread of the Chocolate Ice Cream, once and for all.
In fact, this decision didn’t come easily. It was hotly debated by a lot of the Upper Echelons, some saying that it was warranted, some saying that it wasn’t and was nothing more than the strong bullying the weak.
But in the end, Gourdon was able to convince them. If Reborn truly wanted to become a part of the Upper Echelon, then he must learn the weight that responsibility bore.
And so, they devised the Nascent Influence.
It worked. For a little bit.
Somehow, before the sun had even reached its zenith, they had completely stopped the Nascent Influence from spreading any further. And in record time, too.
In fact, Reborn’s response to the Nascent Influence was even faster than when the Upper Echelons found out that their Nascent Influence didn’t work. One took an hour, the other half a day. Gourdon only found out a little while ago.
None of the Upper Echelons knew how they did this.
It wasn’t one of them, that’s for sure. The club of Nascent Spirit cultivators was small, and everyone knew each other’s signature Aubility Power.
Yet this… the one that somehow defended against the Nascent Influence was unfamiliar.
It wasn’t unfamiliar in the sense that it was done by someone they didn’t know. It didn’t seem to be done by someone at all.
Nascent Influence was emotional in nature. It was the spreading of a cultivator’s emotions, their rule over the world. Yet the one that defended against them looked… mechanical. Too perfect. Too pure. It lacked the imperfections that made a human, a human.
“Could they have hired a Nascent Spirit cultivator? One from the Black Markets?” asked Mr. Wadeby. “They have the funds.”
“No,” answered Gourdon. “I haven’t seen the signs. This is something different. Like… like a newborn Nascent Spirit cultivator.”
Mr. Wadeby started. “Impossible. We haven’t seen a tribulation cloud in years. There is no way that there is a newly minted Nascent Spirit within our midst.”
Gourdon knew that too. But that was the only explanation he could think of.
“But no matter what, there is one thing for sure. We cannot underestimate the Reborn company any longer.”
Sure, the Nascent Influence that they spread wasn’t that strong. If they had used the Nascent Influence of someone stronger, then the other companies would have had to intervene. But the mere fact that a Lower Echelon company defended against it was enough evidence to show that the Reborn company was almost ready for the big leagues.
“What do we do?” Mr. Wadeby asked.
“We do nothing. They passed our test.”
Gourdon was a man of principle. No matter what kind of solution the Reborn company had, the fact of the matter was that they defended against him.
He lost. Plain and simple.
“And besides. We need them now,” Gourdon said. “Blacksmith Sekka has been in their smithy for a while now, and he had sent out the Compound bows to be used by our forces.”
The Compound Bows weren’t like the ones the Elves used. Those were made with much better materials. Mythical and legendary ones, it seemed.
No, these Compound Bows were normal. Made out of steel and metal that were extremely rare in mortal standards, but feasible in theirs.
Still, the bows were much better than what they had. In fact, its worth had been proven.
The soldiers had just returned from their battle, victorious. They were bloodied, but their enemies were dead. Those Ersatz bastards were eliminated. One less thing to worry about.
It was mainly due to those Compound Bows that they were able to finish the skirmish so fast. And undoubtedly, it would prove crucial in the rest of them.
Just then, the door to their room was knocked.
After Mr. Wadeby and Gourdon’s approval, the door opened and a soldier came in.
“What do you think about the Reborn company? Are they trustworthy?”
The soldier took a few seconds to breathe, before nodding his head.
In fact, that was the main reason why Gourdon and Mr. Wadeby wanted their members to spy on Reborn.
They wanted to see if they were secret agents of the Ersatz. It would make the most sense. They seemingly came out of nowhere. Powers much stronger than normal. Technologies far beyond mortal reach.
Others would think of them as an anomaly, but as people who knew about the Ersatz, Gourdon and Mr. Wadeby first thought that Reborn was part of those treacherous rats.
Everything they had must have come from the Ersatz, they thought.
But… they were proven wrong. Without them, they wouldn’t have found the Ersatz so fast. Wouldn’t have had the tools to defeat them.
And they remained in the Garrison, just like they discussed. They kept Reborn in the Garrison as a trap. It was the perfect chance for them to sow chaos while the soldiers were out fighting.
But they didn’t. In fact, they made the Garrison better, providing clean water and other such comforts.
Gourdon and Wadeby had heard tales of these before. Plumbing. Electricity. These were things their spies told them existed in the Kings Region. But it was only now they saw it with their eyes.
And they couldn’t help but think of it as amazing. They weren’t the only ones. Their soldiers thought so as well.
“Patriarch, we have mingled with their kind. Their ways were strange, but we have taken a liking to it. They look careless. Free. Vulnerable. But it is only upon close look that we realize that it is because their ‘nation’ brings their security, prosperity.
This ‘casualness’ they have. It is only brought from strength that they believe in their own hearts.”
The two Patriarchs turned solemn as they heard that. And then, they heard something from the soldier.
“Patriarch, we know you said to reject the offers of Reborn. But our men wish if we could bring some of their comforts back home.”
The two Patriarch’s eyes widened. Nascent Influence!
