Reincarnated Hero System - Chapter 1235 - 1235: Royal Invitation [Bonus 8]

“That does sound unfortunate,” Leoniel said, glancing at the hologram map, and Evan nodded, saying, “Tell me about it.”
Just then, they detected presences approaching, and Leoniel turned his gaze to the side, spotting a royal-blue-haired young woman walking toward them with two guards trailing not far behind.
Even if Evan and Leoniel had reserved this section of the restaurant, Leoniel’s attendants couldn’t stop Princess Sharon from entering, especially after the events of last night.
“Good afternoon, gentlemen,” she said once she was within earshot.
“Afternoon,” Leoniel responded.
“Sup, Princess,” Evan said, grabbing a menu and pushing the seat to his right out. “Here, have a seat.”
The moment the princess sat down, Evan turned the menu toward her, pointing to an item as he spoke, “Have you tried this cocktail before? Trust me, you’re not gonna regret it.”
He immediately looked toward the counter and called out, “Hey. Can I get two number 5s?”
Sharon was surprised at how quickly he’d ordered, but she quickly collected herself and shook her head.
“I’m afraid I can’t stay long enough for drinks,” she said apologetically. “Another time, maybe.”
Evan didn’t mind, lightly shrugging as he responded, “I’ll give the other one to my friend who’s coming over then.”
He then put down the menu and cast his gaze toward the Zeraxes Archipelago, sensing the presence of his contracted Lightning Spirit drawing closer from that direction.
Looking back at Sharon, he asked, “So, any new developments regarding the lot we captured last night?”
Sharon shook her head in response, a tired sigh slipping from her lips.
“Unfortunately, we haven’t obtained anything major so far,” she replied. “Rest assured, I will update you on any findings, provided they aren’t classified information.”
Evan chuckled at her response, waving dismissively as he said, “Spare me the classified information. I already have too much of that in my head. I can’t make room for any more.”
His words made Leoniel laugh lightly.
“You have enough classified information for an entire lifetime.”
“One lifetime? How about a dozen lifetimes?” Evan shot back.
Sharon alternated her gaze between them, quickly realising this was likely related to whatever they had been discussing before she arrived.
Clearing her throat to bring their attention back to her, she continued.
“I came today to extend a formal invitation to both of you to the Eblor Royal Palace. I informed His Majesty of the events of last night, and he wishes to formally thank you both for your assistance.”
“Eh?”
The sound Evan let out involuntarily, and his genuine expression of surprise caught Sharon off guard as she heard and saw it.
It was the first time she had seen Evan truly surprised by something, and somehow that made him seem a lot more…’human’ to her.
Evan silently rubbed his chin, his expression shifting into one of contemplation as he muttered to himself, “I can use this.”
Before Sharon could question his muttering, Evan looked up and said, “If King Taher VII wishes to offer his gratitude, would it be possible for me to make a request regarding the form of that gratitude?”
“A request?”
“Yes,” Evan replied, explaining his idea. “You see, there’s news of the Solaris Union attempting to create this International Law to prevent me from entering certain national borders, and it would be a major inconvenience if they actually enacted it, because of some of my future plans.
Those plans involve creating a coalition of nations across the three continents for proper information exchange on certain world enemies, from the Demonic Hand to the invaders from Gozon they’re attempting to bring over.”
After saying this, Evan paused, tilting his head slightly as he asked, “Were you aware of the name of the invaders’ home world?”
“I am now,” Sharon responded.
Evan nodded with a light smile, but it quickly faded as he continued with his explanation.
“Their world is named Gozon, and unfortunately, very few nations understand the true scale of the threat an invasion from that world poses, and I’d like to make them aware of it.
I’m not keen on repeating myself, so it’s better to gather everyone together and explain it all at once.
Before I do that, I don’t want to take any actions that might interfere with the formation of this coalition. If they end up creating such a law to restrict me from entering their borders, it would be troublesome since some of those nations are places I have business with. I really don’t want to be sneaking around…”
Evan’s expression flattened, and his voice dropped a pitch as he added, “Nor do I want to force my way through their borders.”
His light smile returned, and he continued in a casual tone, as if he hadn’t just shifted his demeanour for a few seconds.
“As such, I’d prefer they didn’t enact such a law in the first place. King Taher VII has more influence than I do on the Beta Continent, so he can definitely prevent such a law from coming into effect.”
Evan concluded with a statement of what he essentially wanted Sharon’s father to do, but the princess was still too stunned by how easily he went from casual to threatening and back to casual mode in mere seconds.
She remembered the power Evan had displayed the night before and how casually he had broken the arm of a Veiled Legend.
Her Lady-in-Waiting had later told her that even at full power, she couldn’t have crushed a Level 720’s wrist as easily as Evan did.
The ease with which Evan acted suggested that his power was far greater, and the woman didn’t believe that he was truly a newly minted Legendary Level existence.
The older woman went on to say that Evan’s actual Level was likely closer to 800 than anyone realised, regardless of how absurd that sounded given his age.
Sharon snapped out of her daze after a few seconds, processing Evan’s words and nodding as she responded.
“I understand your request, and I will inform His Majesty.”
“Thank you,” Evan said with a small smile. “I’d still accept the offer to come to the castle in Eblor. Things like this are much better discussed in person. I appreciate the invitation.”
“You’re welcome,” Sharon replied, rising to her feet. “And once again, thank you both for your assistance last night.”
“Don’t mention it,” Leoniel said, and Evan nodded along with him, glancing toward the counter to see if his cocktails were ready.
After Sharon left, Leoniel turned to Evan and asked, “You don’t want to force yourself into their borders, you say?”
The man’s words made Evan turn to him, and then, drumming his fingers on the table, he said,
“A good number of the Alpha Continental leaders already have an idea, which is why very few of them still give me trouble. The Beta Continent’s leaders, on the other hand, are completely oblivious, and honestly, I can’t blame them.”
Leoniel looked confused for a moment, but that confusion disappeared when Evan, still drumming his fingers on the table, released a pulse of magic power.
The man’s eyes widened in surprise and recognition, and Evan smiled at his reaction.
“Hah…and here I thought you being a Legendary was already absurd enough,” Leoniel said, a dry laugh escaping his lips. “To think you’ve long since left that territory.”
Last night, after Evan had finished his dinner with Sharon, he had released a pulse of magic across the Voyager.
That action had been a probe to get Leoniel’s attention, but although Leoniel sensed the subtle pulse of magic, too faint for the senses of anyone below the Sovereign Level to notice or gauge its strength, he hadn’t reacted.
Now, Evan had released an identical pulse, indirectly revealing to Leoniel that he had been the one behind the previous day’s magic pulse.
At this, Evan said, “I’m very capable of using force to get the job done. But, as I said earlier, I would like to be civil.
Force would not be my first option.”
Evan stood after saying that, a small grin appearing on his lips as he added, “It would be my second.”
He turned, collecting the cocktails from the waitress as she set them down, tipping her with a few coins before returning his attention to Leoniel.
“Chatting with you was enjoyable, Leoniel. I’d like to talk again before we reach Zeraxes, if possible. That’s okay with you?”
Leoniel nodded silently, and satisfied with the response, Evan turned to those at the counter to tell them he’d have someone return the cocktail glasses before he left the restaurant.
His dear contracted spirit had returned from her scouting mission, and it was time to hear her report.
