“Anyway, this is Naturia’s time to shine, so don’t bother her, Ignatius! You will get your turn once we obtain a true dragon corpse,” I said, pushing him aside as he raged and spat flames everywhere. “Naturia, what else do you feel you can do?”

“Hmmm! I think that once I grow strong enough, my armor may be able to expand further!” she replied. “Alsoooo… I think I can do more than just armor forms. A staff! But it is not very useful, right? So I turned it into a magic arrow staff.”

“Wait, what?” I raised an eyebrow as the armor disappeared and transformed into a beautiful, regal staff made of pink metal and gold, embedded with sparkling jewels. The bow felt heavy and incredibly sturdy, its string crafted from a tough metallic thread. “Wow, this is amazing! I had never considered using bows before, but seeing what Mist can do, maybe they are perfect for Spell Arrows. They seem faster and more efficient than raw spellcasting.”

I quickly aimed into the distance toward the Burning Forest as Naturia infused her power. A giant blazing pink arrow formed from her clear brown wood.

“Fire!”

RUMBLE!

The arrow pierced through the forest and exploded, unleashing a massive pink blast that created a towering pillar of pink spirit flames. The flames absorbed the surrounding fire and miraculously began healing the forest.

“Woah!” Aquarina, who had been watching everything in silence, could no longer contain her excitement. “That’s crazy… Naturia went from being your Nature Spirit to becoming both armor and a bow! It is like two in one! I wonder if I can do the same with my spirits once it is time to evolve them again?”

“Maybe,” I nodded. “Once they reach a high enough level, any materials you feed them will help them evolve even further, and they will absorb the components more efficiently. But anyway, Naturia, did you gain any ability from the Skill Scroll you absorbed?”

I had not expected her to literally become a Skill Scroll herself. That would not make sense. Still, perhaps something interesting had happened.

“Yes! I can do something really interesting! Watch this!”

Suddenly she landed on my hand and transformed into a gleaming rune shaped like a cherry blossom tree, glowing brightly.

“Huh?!”

In that instant, I felt stronger. At the same time, I became connected to her in a way I had never imagined possible. She was now part of my System Status.

I was shaken as I felt Naturia merge into my body in an entirely new way. Usually, Spirit Fusion did not feel like this. It was as if she had become circuits made of runes beneath my skin, connecting directly to the depths of my existence.

“Do you feel stronger, Master?” Naturia asked in her cheerful voice. “I have become part of you. I am your Skill now! Isn’t that cool?”

“It is incredible…” I muttered. “So this is what absorbing a Skill Scroll caused?”

“Perhaps…” Alice said. “I am honestly shocked. It is as if she hacked into the system out of nowhere and became part of it! I never imagined that was possible!”

“Interesting…” Yggdra nodded. “Naturia, can you return to normal now?”

“Okay!” Naturia quickly left my body. The rune inside me did not disappear completely, but it turned white. The bright pink light it had emitted earlier vanished, leaving it looking weakened or perhaps deactivated.

“Looks like I cannot use the Skill Rune anymore, but it is still there…” I said.

“I guess she needs to merge with you to activate it?” Alice wondered. “Well, that is certainly an interesting interaction. It might limit what Naturia can do, depending on whether you want her to grant you skills, become a bow, turn into armor, or act as a normal spirit.”

“I think I can do all of them!” Naturia said. “In my armor form, we are still connected, right?” She flew toward me and transformed into my armor once again.

And indeed, she was not wrong.

“The rune is glowing again! I see. Maybe I need some sort of direct contact with her,” I said. “But that seems to be it.”

“How intriguing,” Alice remarked. “Well, we will see how it all develops.”

“For now, I will check something…”

I opened Naturia’s status to better understand what had happened to her.
