- Chapter 2040: Against The First Boss, The Infernal Treant King!

—–
I leaped forward, greeting a dozen Infernal Treants that fused together into a towering titan of burning wood.
Dozens of gigantic arms hurtled toward me, ripping through the air with shockwaves and flames that engulfed me whole.
But I opened my mouth as red dragon scales spread across my body, and I smiled.
“My favorite.”
I devoured the flames just as Ignatius could, since I could use most of my Familiars’ Skills, and then channeled that power to strengthen my own.
“Now take it back.”
My fists glowed bright red-orange as my Aura exploded outward.
I kicked off the air beneath me, flames bursting from the soles of my feet.
In that instant, I swung my fist forward in a single, devastating thrust.
Flames of Strength, Overload, and Impact Shockwave fused together.
My strength skyrocketed. Blood and raw energy surged through every muscle in my body.
I felt my physique practically double in physical power, all thanks to Strength herself merging with me.
It all culminated in a single attack.
BOOOMMM!!!
A massive explosion of flames erupted as my fist pierced the giant monster’s chest—comparable to a Tier 8 Corrupted Monster—and shattered its combined core completely.
“GROOOOHHH…”
The monster’s body exploded into pieces, crumbling into burning debris.
As I fell, I stared at my fist in disbelief. That level of raw physical strength was something I never could have achieved without exhausting all my power and relying on Scarlet.
But now, it rested within my grasp—without using any of that.
So I wondered… just how strong could it become if I added them into the mix?
Insane, right?
“Ooh?! Hey Sylphy, is that true? Your strength really increased!” Aquarina called from a distance. She slid across an ice surface she had conjured with her magic, then leaped down and landed gracefully on the corpse of the Infernal Treant Chimera. “Just what was that? It was awesome!”
“Heh, really?” I asked, feeling a bit embarrassed. “Well, that’s the power of Strength! She recently evolved, and whenever she does, I gain a huge bonus to my own strength. It nearly doubled.”
“That’s incredible…” she said, nodding. “Well, looks like we’re not quite done with them yet.”
“INTRUDERS…! THE BURNING FOREST…! DOES NOT ACCEPT… OUTSIDERS…! BEGONE… BEGONE FROM THE BURNING FOREST, INTRUDERS!!!”
RUMBLE!
Loud, earth-shaking footsteps echoed as a gigantic figure emerged from the first layer of the Burning Forest. It radiated an overwhelming amount of Fire Elemental Spiritual Energy fused with the Corrupted Miasmic Curse, amplifying its power even further.
“Oh, that’s… not a normal mob, is it?” Aquarina said.
“Nope. That’s the boss of the Burning Forest’s First Layer. Seems our little ruckus drew him out…” I replied. “The Infernal Treant King.”
Standing over three hundred meters tall—ten times larger than the Tier 6 boss had once been—this mutated monstrosity, twisted by the Curse and Miasma, had reached Tier 9. It was powerful enough to level an entire city in a single night.
[Infernal Treant King – Corruption Form (Tier 9: Rank 2)]
“Scarlet, Sapphire, to me!” I called. Both weapons materialized at my sides. I gripped them tightly, their divine power surging through my body. “We’d better get ready, Aquarina. These aren’t easy to take down!”
“I know!” she replied with a defiant smile. She fully transformed into her Obsidian Dragonoid Form, fusing with all her spirits at once. “I’ve got some tricks of my own too! Spirit Weaponization!” What’s more, she even transformed Undine into a long, divine trident.
“PITIFUL… PITIFUL CREATURES… PERISH… BE PURIFIED… BY THE ETERNAL BURNING FLAME!”
The Infernal Treant King roared, raising a colossal burning wooden staff and summoning a gigantic Rain of Flames from the sky. The fiery barrage bombarded us relentlessly.
BOOOM! BOOOM! BOOOM! BOOOM! BOOOM! BOOOM!
Yet we pushed through with surprising ease, closing the distance to his massive body and meeting his gleaming red, jewel-like eyes.
His mouth suddenly split open, unleashing black-purple flames straight from the depths of his corrupted spirit core.
“Purgatory Flames – Soul Burning Fire!”
FLUOOOSH!
“Ugh?!”
“Ngh?!”
We shielded ourselves with our Auras and Divine Protections as the curse burned stronger than ever before.
This was bad. The curse had been amplified by the treant’s flames to an overwhelming degree.
We had to finish this quickly.
“DID YOU LIKE THE TASTE OF HATRED?! NOW PERISH!”
He kept ranting as his claws swung toward us, crashing down while his black-purple flames tried to consume everything.
But we weren’t going down that easily.
“HAAAAAH!”
With powerful roars, our Auras exploded outward.
Aquarina’s Aura took the form of a giant sea dragon and a shadow dragon intertwining, their seas and darkness clashing violently. Then a third element emerged—a colossal, calm mountain—blending all three together.
Her fists suddenly swelled to enormous size as boulders erupted from her skin, fused with black miasmic darkness and flowing water, greatly enhancing her strength.
She had merged her Shadow, Sea, and Stone Elements!
“Elemental Fusion!!!”
RUMBLE!
Her fists grew gigantic, rivaling the Treant King’s own size. A third fist manifested from her back—or rather, it was her dragon tail—slamming the Treant King’s head downward with a thunderous impact.
CRAAASH!
“Gaaaah?!”
He groaned, losing his footing and crashing heavily to the ground. Aquarina immediately began pummeling him with her massive fists.
“Divine Abyssal Frost Leviathan Double Aura!”
“Primordial Stone Axe & Hammer Arts!”
“Thunderous Maelstrom Punch!”
“Abyssal Sea Fist Arts!”
Four skills converged at once, creating a perfect union of energies, elements, and power within her.
“Abyssal Sea Mountain Titan’s Fist!”
RUMBLE!
Her Aura surged wildly, manifesting as an ancient titan of seas, stone, and shadows—an unseen giant lost to history—its eyes gleaming with golden and azure light.
“TAKE… THIS!!!”
BAAM! BAAM! BAAM! BAAM! BAAM! BAAM! BAAM! BAAM! BAAM! BAAM!
Her blows never stopped. The three-hundred-meter-tall treant was gradually lifted into the sky as her eyes shone brightly, her draconic and magical power converging within her triple divinity spark.
“GEAAAAHHH?!”
“Heavenly Step! Wind-Soaring Kicking Arts!”
“Spinning Thunder Dragon Kick!”
Thunder erupted from her body as she spun through the air like a living drill. Her foot, covered in sharp scales and claws, tore a massive hole through the Treant’s stomach and sent him flying skyward.
BOOOMMM!!!
“E-Eh? I didn’t need to do anything!” I stood speechless, watching my incredible girlfriend solo a boss by herself. “Aquarina, you’re so cool!”
“Heheh,” she giggled, clearly embarrassed. “Well, that’s— Ah! Wait!”
“…!”
We looked up at the sky. As damaged as he was, the Treant King was not dead. His body rapidly began to rearrange itself, runes swirling around him and fusing with his curse.
“POLYMORPH! INFERNAL SPIRIT DRAGON FORM!”
RUMBLE!
“What?!”
