- Chapter 731 - 731: Showdown Devil VS Demon (part 3)

The previous thought came to Daimon’s mind because the aura coming from that brown-red energy which covered his chest and fist earlier, was undoubtly that of the dwarf princess Femi.
‘Mmm, I wanted to block the armored general’s attack but instead of the green energy condensing a shield, it was that brown-red one the one which appeared, perhaps because I wanted to protect my body instead of blocking in front of me?’, wondered Daimon.
Earlier the haunted locust general had taken advantage of the opening created by Marcus and the damned army to shorten the distance between himself and Daimon, so the masked silver haired youth instead of wanting to create a defensive “wall” in front of him, the feeling that resulted in the green energy wood shield to appear, wanted to protect the area of his body where the attack was aiming at.
And that resulted in the brown-red energy manifesting for the first time to then take the form of chest armor, followed by Daimon seeing the black flame horse preparing to attack so this time he wanted to use his silver energy to block the black flames, imagine his surprise when a brown-red energy gauntlet appeared around his fist.
The next thing he knew is that the punch he threw was at least two times stronger which is why the black flame horse was sent flying like that, alongside the haunted locust general.
‘How weird, certainly my punch caused more damage but I didn’t feel my strength increasing until after I had attacked the black flame horse, if anything there was almost no impact transmitted to my fist’, thought Daimon as he closed and opened his hand a couple of times to then return to the real world as he saw the haunted locust tree general charging towards him.
It’s worth mentioning that the black flame horse was still out of combat, because despite looking like an energy construction, it is actually a living being similar to the trees and vegetation of the living hell jungle, so the haunted locust tree general had to use his own two feet to move for the time being.
Of course, to make up for the lost in mobility, the general wasn’t just blindly charging, with a wave of his hand, the remaining six members of the damned army pointed their bows and crossbows towards Daimon, releasing a barrage of arrows and bolts the next second.
However, under Marcus’s eyes of disbelief, without Daimon doing anything, red-brown energy armor appeared on the spots of his body where the arrows and bolts were going to land, and the things were stopped in cold resulting in continuous clinking sounds.
“Clang!”, and that wasn’t all, seeing the incoming halberd which the haunted locust tree general swung in a rush as there was no opening, because the long-distance attacks of the damned army didn’t force Daimon to dodge nor defend himself actively, Daimon casually extended his left hand stopped the blade of the halberd head on.
‘Oh, so I don’t need to activate it by myself, the armor comes into play the moment a strong physical impact is close to my body’, thought Daimon as he saw his left hand which was now covered in a brown-red metal energy gauntlet which was releasing sparks as it blocked the enemy’s halberd.
What’s more, the damned army once again released a barrage of arrows and bolts only for all the projectiles to be blocked the same way as before, just to be followed by a round of arrows and bolts that were burning in black flames.
“Booom!”, a wave of silver energy forced the haunted locust tree general to retreat while also pouring out the black flames on the arrows and bolts that then were stopped before reaching Daimon by brown-red energy armor that appeared on the points of impact.
‘Damn it, first that damn wood energy with multiple annoying special effects and now a metal one that blocks physical impacts!’, cursed Marcus, without the black flame horse the general was too slow so he needed others to make an opening, but the arrows and bolts were rendered useless and when it was used for long-ranged attacks his black flames were too weak to reach Daimon.
“Charge!”, that only left one option, the good old swarm tactic, so with a single word order, Marcus alongside the damned army as well as the haunted locust tree general rushed towards Daimon.
“Black Hell Step!”, of course Marcus’s priority was himself, so he disappeared from plain sight using a movement spell opening way for the six members of the damned army that encircled Daimon.
‘I don’t know you but since that bastard is using you even after death, you probably were decent people, so at least I’ll help you rest while screwing that guy over’, thought Daimon.
Which took Eve by surprise, previous to this, Daimon showed no concern in the well-being of those that weren’t directly related to him, though he also didn’t go out of his way to mess with anyone, of course if the situation aligned with his own interests, he wouldn’t mind lending a hand here and there but everything was calculated and weighted down in his mind.
It was something that worried Aisha, because while she of course wouldn’t want Daimon to put become a hot-blooded foo that puts himself at risk for others, she also didn’t want him to live isolated from everything but the soulmates.
‘Mmm, it probably started when Aisha sent him to the academy, but the changes became notorious when he rescued those colorful girls and it became a thing after the light princess made her entrance, perhaps seeing first-hand the irrationality that can follow being a target for a system is what made him more conscious of the injustice behind the veil…’, thought Eve with a serious expression for a change, well, it didn’t last long before she returned to her usual self though.
‘And here I was worried that he was going to become a womanizer like the old man, well in his case girls flock to him without the need to actively chasing after them, so in a sense he’s even worse~’.
Back to the fight, Daimon stomped his right foot on the ground, which Marcus who had yet to return to plain sight, grow wary thinking that he was going to use swift step to bypass the damned army and the haunted locust tree general to after him, but that wasn’t the case.
“Crack!”, the ground around Daimon cracked as six green energy wood spears emerged from below, piercing the remaining members of the damned army, similar to what happened to the starving roots when they were hit by the arrow before, they turned into normal wood figures which then crumbled apart, leaving behind six humans, again three males and three females.
Their races were indistinguishable from regular humans, but Daimon could tell that at least they didn’t belong to the four galaxies, since he has seen humans from there, it didn’t matter now though, those six made short-lived reverence towards Daimon before turning into light particles.
“Screeeee!”, contrary to the majestic scene of the damned army being released, the trees to which they used to be tied, screamed before they crumbled into piles of broken flesh and bones that then melted into a black viscous liquid.
“Clang!”, as the same time the haunted locust tree general arrived in front of Daimon and slashed his halberd towards his head but then a brown-red energy helmet to stop the blade of the halberd, sparks flew in every direction due to the clash, but Daimon didn’t even move from where he was standing.
At the same time, Marcus appeared behind Daimon with his fist aiming at his back only for Daimon to casually turn around, leaving the brown-red energy helmet continue block the halberd of the haunted locust tree general, without his interference.
“Damn it!”, Marcus was too close and he had already thrown his punch, so he didn’t retreat, but since he had lost the advantage of surprise, he already knew what the result was going to be.
“Boooom!”, two fists, one clad in black metal gauntlets as well as black flames and one covered in a brown-red energy gauntlet collided head on, causing a loud explosion, debris and dust raised from the ground as both Daimon and Marcus were forced to retreat, however one couldn’t see an inch of happiness in the devil ruler system user’s face, because his hand was numb.
‘What the hell, I’m the one using a magic treasure so why… why am I the one hurting, why are my fists not breaking his flesh and bones!!!’, he screamed in his heart, sure he wasn’t using his promised level gauntlets because he was reserving them for his fight with Adam.
Due to the restrictions of the Blood Prison realm, the stronger the power past the set-up limit he wanted to exert, the more effort it took, however, his current gauntlets were early Arch rank level treasures, so it didn’t make sense for him, that the enemy could meet his attacks head on with his bare hands, even if the silver haired masked youth is a knight instead of a mage like him.
What’s more, now that the brown-red energy came into play, the haunted locust tree general who lacked the capacity to use energy attacks without the black flame horse in exchange for his high physical strength, was not playing his part.
“I swear why is everyone around me so fucking useless, contact manager, page 26!”, shouted Marcus, which made the devil librarian from earlier made another appearance as the black book shuffled through its pages again.
“As the devil ruler wishes”, said the devil librarian to then return into the book which was now showing a different page when compared from earlier, now, the living hell jungle didn’t disappear the haunted locust tree general and the black flame horse were still there as well.
What happened was that another one-hundred-meter sized area, at the left of the living hell jungle, suddenly lit up in neon pink flames, that reminded Daimon of the lust nether used by Reed, however that was without a doubt devil mana instead.
“Black Devil Contract, Burning Mind Hell!”, with a loud voice, the spell was complete and perfectly replicated the burning flame field depicted in the new visible page of the black book.
However, Daimon raised an eyebrow as he didn’t see any changes happening right away, but then his instincts warned him of danger coming from his right, so with a wave of his hand a green energy wood shield manifested next to Daimon.
“Crack!”, a loud shattering sound echoed through the vicinity before the seemingly empty space at Daimon’s right blurred to then reveal the haunted locust tree general whose halberd had half cleaved through the shield.
The problem is that the haunted locust tree general was standing not too far from Marcus and hadn’t moved since earlier, what’s more the thing was riding on the black flame horse which was still laying down on the ground unconscious.
“It was as expected, an illusion related imitation of a domain this time, that for sure was created with the “help” of a Lust faction nethereal”, said Daimon as he jumped backwards just in time for the haunted locust tree general to destroy the green energy wood shield.
‘Tsk, I forgot he should have a damn magic beast related lineage given how strong his body is, the burning mind hell illusions can trick his visual perception but his instincts are another complete different thing’, cursed Marcus to his insides.
That being said and as Daimon was about to discover, the power to create illusions and “deceive” enemies of the burning mind hell which in case you hadn’t realized was created thanks to the sacrifices of the bow user nethereal that fought Femi, wasn’t limited to only that.
“Burning Mind Hell, Desire Wraith Legion!”, with Marcus’s order, a dozen or so of semi-transparent female figures came out from the burning mind hell, their figures and faces were familiar, as in they looked like the girls, not only the ones Daimon has met since he entered Neptune but also like Erin, Elaine, Liz and Aisha.
They all approached Daimon with happy smiles and open arms only to be welcomed by a wave of silver energy.
“Screeee!”, the beautiful flaming figures screamed to then get away from Daimon, their faces blurred before they revealed their real appearances, which were those of wrinkled old women, their previously youthful figures became normal and they were wearing robes made out of the same flames of the burning mind hell.
Despite the “absurdness” of the previous spell, one could see that Marcus was definitely surprise to see it fail.
‘What is going on, wasn’t he aiming to steal from Adam, is he not aiming to become a hero?’, he thought to himself, this is a spell he specially prepared for Adam who, well didn’t exactly had a weak spot for girls considering how he directly threw Jasmine away to save his ass, but was more like obsessed with “possessing” them.
What he didn’t know is that Daimon did see the wraiths as the girls, however he has literally slept in the same room as all of them, since even those that had shown nothing but friendly intentions towards him, like Chris, Cassy and lately Lyn, were among the group, therefore Daimon could instinctively tell that while the wraiths looked like them, they weren’t them.
As for the part where he was supposed to be enthralled by the wraiths coming at him with those pretty faces and tempting smiles, that was even more hopeless.
‘What a joke, I have spent years with an incarnation of temptation and days that felt like damn years with a mass of lust in the form of a crazy girl, even if I’m not using Overlord’s Pride or the Infinity Eyes, such a low ranked illusion won’t work on me’, thought Daimon referring to Erin and Sarah.
Also, the wraiths worked based in his memories, and only Daimon saw them that way, for Marcus they looked normal, unfortunately there was a missing pair of really important girls among the crowd which made it way obvious that it was a trick, as in Eve and Narasha weren’t there, for the simple reason that Daimon doesn’t know what they look like.
‘Well, they did look like Erin and the others for a second there, though they absolutely didn’t feel like them, this nonsense would have been avoided if I could use even a little bit of the Infinity Eyes…’, thought Daimon only to feel the black sea emblem shaking a bit in his pocket, which made Daimon sigh to his insides, to ultimately shrug to himself, in any case the illusion couldn’t trick his instincts so they only looked like what Marcus wanted for a fraction of a second and then the perception altering image was gone, so at the worst case scenario he’ll punch the Sarah wraith on the face.
“Retreat”, ordered Marcus which made the wraiths sink into the ground, they probably returned to the burning mind hell to heal themselves after being exposed to Daimon’s silver energy.
Leaving that aside, while the haunted locust general and Marcus himself were still in plain sight for Daimon, he wasn’t sure if they had been replaced by illusions, he could instinctively see through the hiding ones after they got close to him after all.
But then just as Daimon felt danger coming from different directions, bright green energy gathered in front of his face, covering it alongside the mask of the hollow suit with a green wood energy mask.
“Clang!”, the next second, Daimon extended his right arm in a random direction and caught the halberd’s blade with his hand which was clad in a brown-red energy gauntlet, that being said he was forced to move to the side due to the increased strength of the enemy, but the important part is that he perfectly saw where the attack was coming.
“What!”, Marcus who was still hiding couldn’t help but exclaim, this time the black horse had gained speed by rushing towards Daimon from distance, this was so that the attack could bypass the reaction tome of his instincts, but before the halberd could connect, Daimon was already waiting for it.
All thanks to the green energy wood mask that was covering his face now, it was different than what he could see with the infinity eyes, but Daimon was seeing in a wavelength that wasn’t the physical one.
‘Mmm, it’s a bit similar to when I’m looking at the mana circuits, but different as well, it’s not a layer of the world that exists “physically”, is this something Tessa can see now?’, thought Daimon to then gaze at Marcus.
Or more accurately at the ghost-like girl with black hair and red eyes who was watching the fight, from distance, since Marcus was obviously not in a proper state of mind being bested constantly by Daimon, he has been able to see Lezabel since earlier, that’s an effect of the system which Daimon can’t turn off or on as he wants, it’s a function of the system that came to be when he met Adam and Marcus.
However, with the green energy mask on, the ghost-like administrator looked slightly different, there were several blurred spots on her body and around her, also unlike when Daimon is seeing her through the function of the system, she seemed to notice his gaze.
“Heh, you probably knew about me from that hero guy, but this is the first time you see me, oh well it’s my fault for not remaining on guard in a place with such strict rules, I’ll tell you what, if you kill him, I’ll give you a reward so fight hard, I’m rooting for you”, said the ghost-like administrator as she waved her hand at Daimon while making sure that Marcus could listen to the previous as well.
Her dynamic with her user was completely different when compared to Ariel’s with Adam, though the young angel girl found Adam displeasing, she tried to straighten him up and offered genuine support at first, only after confirming that he was an irredeemable piece of trash did Ariel stopped getting personally involved and only fulfilled her responsibilities as an administrator out of duty, ultimately deciding not to help Adam at the end.
“Damn bitch, watch if you want but how dare you support the enemy!”, cursed Marcus to then beckon towards the burning mind hell.
“Whatever, if illusions don’t work then how about this, Possession!”, shouted Marcus making the dozens of wraiths came out of the sea of pink flames to then enter the body of the black flame horse, whose eyes turned neon pink.
“Neeeiigh!”, with a loud sound, the halberd of the haunted locust tree general exploded in dark flames, the black flame horse had gained the capacity to directly boost his rider rather than just acting as a mount.
‘They increased the horse’s intellect by possessing it, well it’s a spell created after lust nether so affecting the mind it’s a piece of cake when the target doesn’t resist’, concluded Daimon.
That being said, he returned to the real world when the haunted locust general whose legs had exploded in black pink flames appeared in front of him, the horse had also boosted his speed.
“Boooom!”, the now flaming halberd was stopped for a second by a green energy shield which was actually destroyed quite fast, some of the pink flames and a bit of the impact was diminished so Daimon followed with a wave of his silver energy which poured out the flames and ultimately stopped the blade of the halberd with his right hand which was covered by a red-brown energy gauntlet.
It took him three different moves to stop that and that was enough to buy time for Marcus to make his appearance, with bloodshot eyes at the fact that his administrator was openly supporting the enemy, he pressed his hands on the ground.
“Black Devil Shredding Hand!”, a black flame magic circle appeared below Daimon, who raised his right foot to then stomp it downwards.
“Shatter Step”.
