Chapter 190: 190 – My Bad [PS BONUS]
“STOP! I DIDN’T BRING LOHAN HERE TO FIGHT!”
As he shouted, Devon stepped in front of Zach and pointed his hand at him, channeling a small amount of Mana (as Lohan perceived it), gathering an unstable, glowing purple energy, seemingly ready to be fired at Zach.
Seeing this, Zach’s eyes widened and he stopped running abruptly.
“Calm down, Devon, you don’t need to attack me!” Zach raised his arms and dropped the wheel wrench he was holding, causing a loud clang of metal to echo around them.
The glow in Devon’s hands caught the attention of both Kai, who also called off his attack, and the group that had just arrived.
Suddenly, an enraged female voice rang out from inside the hangar, rushing out at high speed and landing a punch on the boy’s face. “Damn it, Devon, what are you doing?! Stop using that!”
Devon had time to react and strike first, but instead of firing, as soon as the punch hit his cheek, the purple light in his hand disintegrated as he fell to the ground.
“Ouch, Skye, your punch is still as strong as ever…” Devon complained from the floor, but without a trace of resentment. “I wasn’t really going to shoot Zach; I only did that to stop him from attacking Lohan.”
As he said this, he pointed with his thumb toward Lohan, who was standing behind him, while using his other hand to massage his sore cheek.
At his signal, Skye, the girl with long blonde hair and blue eyes, wearing a silver jacket like the rest of the people in the hangar, finally looked at Lohan and, after a slight sniff, arched her eyebrows in surprise.
“Well, well, who would’ve thought we’d meet again…” she said with a mischievous smile to Lohan, instantly recognizing that confusing scent with its various different fragrances.
Surprisingly to her, the scent he was giving off now was weaker than last time, but still unique.
Lohan also looked at her and recognized the girl as the one who had led the group to attack him last time.
’What kind of luck do I have that every time I meet a girl, she manipulates someone to attack me?’ Lohan rolled his eyes, remembering that this was exactly how he had met Lisa.
“Yeah, who would’ve thought that the group Devon wanted to introduce me to, the one he raved about to me as a righteous group of people who wanted to make a difference in the Lower Zone, would turn out to be the troublemakers who attack innocent people in the city.” Lohan replied sarcastically, not feeling the least bit intimidated.
Devon: ??????
Hearing that comment, Devon was confused. Since when did the Silver Lotus attack innocent people? And seeing the slight blush of embarrassment on Skye’s cheeks, without her denying that statement, he was even more shocked.
“Wait, you guys know each other?! And what’s this about attacking innocent people? Did you guys attack Lohan?!” he finally asked.
Skye wanted to punch Devon in the face again to shut him up, but since he put it that way, she could only sigh and look away. “Yeah, kinda… a couple of Asphyxia guys had ambushed Oliver and we went to help, then I smelled your friend and thought he was with the Asphyxia crew too… my bad, dude.”
“My bad?” Lohan snorted. “Thanks for trying to introduce me to your friends, Devon, but considering what I saw of them, I don’t want to get involved in this.”
With that, Lohan turned and started to walk away.
But Devon quickly caught up to him and grabbed his shoulder. “Wait, Lohan, wait, this must have been nothing more than a misunderstanding. Please, you’re already here; it won’t hurt you to see what we have to offer until the end. I swear that even if you want to leave after seeing everything, I won’t stop you.”
Skye and the Silver Lotus group looked at Devon in surprise, but thinking back to their last battle, they understood where that motivation was coming from.
Having lost the battle against Lohan last time, Jenny, who had a Rare Class, and Kai, who had a Common Base, had fought him head-on and lost.
That could only mean his base was at least less than Epic Rarity!
Someone with an Epic Base was extremely rare.
From what Skye had researched, only 1 in every 10,000 people had an Epic Base, and considering how few players there were in the Lower Zone, it was possible that in this planet’s Lower Zone there were fewer than 10 players with a Base as rare as that!
If they could get Devon’s friend to join Silver Lotus, they would have practically 20% of the Lower Zone’s Epic Base Players all together!
Sure, since this was random, in a group of 100 Players there could be 10 Epic Base Players or 0, it all depended on luck.
Just as there were 4 students with Rare Bases in Lohan’s college class, the actual average in a large sample was that only 1 in every 50 people would have a Rare Bases.
Similarly, on average, 1 in every 5 people would have an Uncommon Base.
So Skye realized that maybe in the Lower Zone there could be another 20 or 30 players with an Epic Base, or there could just be her and Devon’s friend!
What Skye didn’t know was that if the rarity of an Epic Base was 1 in 10,000, the rarity of a Mythic Base was a minuscule number, likely incalculable, let alone someone with a Double Mythic Base!
Hearing Devon’s request, Lohan paused for a moment, turned to the boy who studied with him, and thought for a moment.
Devon was right; he was already there, so it wouldn’t hurt to clear up this “misunderstanding” once and for all.
And considering the advantages that befriending this group could bring, Lohan sighed and turned to face them.
Skye’s eyes sparkled when she saw the man stay, but without showing any excitement, she turned and entered the warehouse.
Devon caught the group leader’s cue and smiled, waving to Lohan and guiding him inside as well.
The surrounding group was a bit taken aback by the turn of events, but as people from the Lower Zone, they adapted quickly and made way for Devon to enter with Lohan.
Upon entering the place, Lohan’s eyes were immediately drawn to the eight white motorcycles, beautifully painted with the Silver Lotus symbol.
He noticed that two of the bikes had paint that was shinier than the others, clearly freshly painted, and recalling the scene where he’d knocked the riders off those bikes and sent them sliding across the floor, he felt a twinge of pity for whoever had to repaint them.
Clearly those paint jobs had been done by hand, which made the process even more laborious and complicated, but he didn’t feel guilty, after all, they were the ones who attacked first.
Although the place was a bit run-down, the air inside was just as purified as in any other building in the Lower Zone, explaining why no one there wore masks.
Devon quickly removed his mask and motioned for Lohan to remove his as well.
Feeling that it would be strange to be the only one still wearing a mask there, Lohan also removed his, since there was no point in keeping it on with Devon knowing perfectly well what his face looked like.
Seeing how young Lohan was, the eyes of the other Silver Lotus members lit up in astonishment!
