Chapter 383 Foundation Complete, Its effects.
The moment his was foundation completed, Moon felt the change in his body.
A surge of power rolled through his body like a wave in the ocean. It wasn’t violent but rather smooth and natural.
His muscles held more power, like a coiled spring ready to snap at a moment’s notice.
Almost half a star’s worth of increase from a single completed acupoint foundation. The acupoint hadn’t even been filled with spiritual energy yet.
Moon opened his eyes, Mirage remained beside him, ears perked, watching Frey. His gaze then drifted to Frey’s unconscious body slumped near the far wall, still facing away from him.
‘Thankfully, he’s still out of it. It would have been troublesome if he woke up during the process.’
Moon flexed his hands and activated Advanced Elemental Body. He instantly felt the difference, his acupoint blended with his skill smoothly.
Before, channeling the skill had always carried a slight friction. Like a car driving down a bumpy road, the road would take you to your destination without any issues but the ride was never smooth. There were hitches, tiny delays between intent and execution, moments where the mana stuttered before finding its path.
That was gone now.
In comparison, now, the road was asphalt. Clean, flat, without a single bump, the elements answered him instantly, flowing from his acupoint through his body and into the world outside with a seamlessness that felt like breathing. Fire, water, earth, wind, and lightning moved in harmony, each one drawing from the foundation he had built, feeding off the spiritual energy that circulated through it.
His elements and his spiritual energy were no longer operating side by side, they were operating as one.
Moon clenched his fist. Instantly, sparks of lightning danced across his knuckles, brighter and sharper than they had ever been.
“This is what a completed acupoint foundation feels like. It’s addicting.” He murmured to himself.
Mentally, he was drained. The process had demanded his full focus and concentration for hours without a single break. Every layer, every thread, every adjustment had required his attention. Even for someone like Moon, that kind of mental effort left its mark.
His mind felt hazy around the edges.
Rest was very much needed.
Moon pulled out food from his storage ring and set up a small meal inside the crevice. Nothing fancy, just some booked beast meat from earlier, some dried provisions, and water. He placed a portion in front of Mirage, who dug in without ceremony.
Frey still hadn’t woken up. Moon was certain of it. If the man had stirred even slightly, Moon would have felt it. His senses were dulled from fatigue, but not that dulled.
He sat beside Mirage and ate in comfortable silence. The horse chewed loudly beside him, occasionally nudging Moon’s arm with his nose when he wanted more.
Moon obliged without complaint, smiling even.
These moments were rare. Quiet stretches where nothing was trying to kill him, where no one was scheming behind his back, where he could simply sit with his partner and share a meal. He wasn’t going to waste it by worrying about what came next.
Once they were done eating, Moon returned Mirage to his beast taming space. Then he turned his attention back to his acupoint.
He began to experiment.
The more he explored the completed foundation, the more impressed he became. The elements weren’t just responding faster. They were interacting with each other differently this time around, his earth element synchronized with his fire in ways it hadn’t and couldn’t before.
Blending at the edges where the two layers met inside the acupoint. When he channeled both simultaneously, the result was something new.
A pseudo-magma attack!
It wasn’t true magma of course, that was an advanced element. The fusion was incomplete, the elements still retaining enough of their individual identities that the combination couldn’t be classified as a new element entirely. But the molten rock that formed between his palms was hotter, and more destructive than anything he could produce by casting fire and earth separately.
‘I need to try this out as soon as possible!’
He already knew how strong his elements were under normal conditions. All he needed was a live test to compare the new output against his baseline. But even through visual estimation alone, Moon could tell the attack was at least eight percent stronger than before, purely based on the elements coherence.
A single completed acupoint had done that. He could only imagine the twenty four more waiting to be filled with his current Fair Rank Spirit Art.
With time on his hands and Frey still unconscious, Moon turned his attention to something else—Rune Enhancement.
He pulled out materials from his storage ring that he had bought not so long ago and began to practice. His hands moved carefully, inscribing enhancement runes onto spare rune chips using the techniques he had observed from Frey. The first few attempts were rough and sluggish with the lines uneven, the energy distribution lopsided. Although the effect was still there, they were still considered failed attempts in the grand scheme of things since the enhancement effect was very minimal.
He was implementing what he had watched Frey do. The base layer structure, the secondary overlay. The precise points where the enhancement script needed to be inserted to bond properly with the primary rune.
His proficiency climbed sharply.
[Rune Enhancement] [Order: Second] [Rank: Uncommon] [Proficiency: 34%] [Details: Enhance Runes or Items by inscribing Enhancement Runes on them. +60% Success Rate. +3% Enhancement Effect.]
Moon studied the details, the enhancement runes were different by nature from standard inscriptions. They operated in their own category entirely, and within that category, the divisions ran deeper.
Runes that enhanced items were fundamentally different from runes that enhanced other runes. The inscription art, the energy flow, the bonding process, all of it changed depending on the target. And even within those two branches, there were sub-categories that focused on specific types of enhancement. Raw power output, casting speed, durability and more. Each one required its own technique and its own understanding.
It was a vast field.
