SSS Awakening: I Can Class Change at will - Chapter 410 The Battle Begins [2]

The team surged forward. The tanks picked up the pace, their shields scraping against the walls in the narrow passage. Behind them, the group moved as one, weapons ready, spells half-formed in waiting hands.
The passage widened as they reached the junction. Moon recognized it immediately. The layout was burned into his memory from his first visit. Straight ahead lay the main chamber, the large open space where the controlled Evolvers had sat against the walls with their hollow eyes and empty faces.
Moon could hear them now. Movement from the chamber ahead. The scrape of boots on stone. Muffled commands being issued in urgent tones.
Whatever was waiting for them was right around the corner.
“Shields up.” Moon said quietly.
They rounded the corner and the chamber opened up before them.
It was packed to say the least. Evolvers filled the space from wall to wall, armed and ready. Defensive runes glowed along the floor and ceiling. Barricades had been erected from stone and scrap metal. Mages stood in rows behind the frontline, their hands already burning with channeled spells.
Close to forty Evolvers. Waiting for them.
Moon didn’t hesitate.
He clicked his fingers and the Fire and Nature spirit materialized beside him, its burning roots and green vines flaring to life. At the same time, Mirage’s eye flared purple and the doppelganger split from his body, the horse charging into the enemy formation.
“Go!” Moon roared, casting Ignite striking the barricades, destryoing them instantly. Fire spread among enemy team, but was quickly dealt with by water spells.
His tanks slammed into the enemy frontline shield-first. The impact echoed through the evolver’s body like a thunderclap. Bodies collided, weapons clashed, and the battle erupted into pure chaos.
The chamber was spacious enough to fight in, but forty people crammed into a single room turned every corner into a brawl. Spells flew in every direction. Fire scorched the ceiling. Ice shattered against stone walls. The brute carved a path through the center, his weapon rising and falling from the built up fury of countless years of being controlled.
At the same time, Moon cast offensive as well as supportive spells. He would cast minor mend on his team, and Cleanse on specific targets that weren’t in combat, like the healers, in an attempt to wake them up too. The Fire and Nature spirit waded into the thick of it, its burning vines lashing out at anyone who got close. Molten roots wrapped around legs and dragged Evolvers to the ground while its nature half sprouted thick barriers that shielded Moon’s team from incoming attacks.
Mirage’s doppelganger crashed through a cluster of mages, scattering their formation. The real Mirage kicked a swordsman so hard the man flew into the far wall and didn’t get up.
Pars of the ceiling began to crack, chunks collapsing on their heads.
Moon spotted it before he heard it. A deep groan running through the stone above them. The sheer volume of spells, explosions, and impacts was shaking the chamber apart. Dust rained from above and a long fracture split across the ceiling directly over the center of the fight.
‘It will be fatal if the thing collapses…’
Moon slammed his staff into the ground. Earth surged upward in four locations, thick stone pillars erupting from the floor and driving into the ceiling. They locked into place with a grinding sound, bracing the weakest points and holding the weight of the rock above.
The groaning stopped as the ceiling was supported, but that wouldn’t last long at this rate.
Moon ears perked up and his eyes scanned the small battlefield. His team was holding their own against the regular Evolvers. The tanks absorbed the frontline pressure while the mages and archer picked off targets from behind. They were taking hits, some dying and respawning, but they kept fighting each time they came back.
But five figures in the enemy ranks were cutting through his people like they weren’t there.
It was apparent that they were First Star Evolvers — the five of them. Each one moved with a speed and power that dwarfed everyone else in the room. One of them had already killed the brute twice. Another was dismantling the mages, breaking through their barriers with single strikes.
Moon’s team couldn’t handle them. Not even close.
“Arios!” Moon shouted across the chaos.
The archer’s head snapped toward him.
“You’re in charge! Handle the rest of them. I’m taking those five!”
The archer didn’t hesitate. “Understood! Everyone on me! Ignore the five, focus on the ones you can beat! Tanks, hold the center! Mages, cast more spells!!”
He slipped into the role as if he had been born for it. Commands flowed from him in quick bursts, redirecting the team’s efforts toward the enemies they could actually fight.
Moon turned toward the five First Star Evolvers in the midst of the chaos.
Lightning crackled violently in his left hand as the Raiju began to form rapidly. Within seconds, it was already streaking towards its target.
The Thunderclap Raiju struck the nearest First Star Evolver in the head. The wolf detonated against the man’s head and sent his head-less body skidding across the stone floor, before re-spawning a moment later. The chain lightning jumped to one of the normal Evolvers, catching her mid-spell, locking her muscles for a precious moment that the archer took advantage of.
Whoosh!
The arrow struck true to its target, embedding itself in the mage’s forehead, killing her instantly.
[You have gained 1700 Lives]
Notifications flooded his vision, whether from assists, or his spirit killing.Moon closed the gap on the third with his sword drawn. Weaponmaster activated the moment his fingers gripped the handle. His strike came down with 200% amplified force and the First Star Evolver barely managed to block it. The impact drove the man to his knees, cracks spreading across the stone beneath his feet.
“H-How…”
The fourth and fifth converged on Moon from both sides in an attempt to help their teammate. The attacks landed on the floor, hitting nothing, as Moon launched himself upward using [Air Step]. From above, he released a powerful fireball that exploded between them, forcing them apart with various injuries.
