- Chapter 830 830: Returning Back to the Human Continent

Far away, the air twisted in a wide open plaza.
Nox appeared with one hand still slightly raised, and his eyes moved across the place before him. The plaza was filled with people, beasts, stalls, training areas, and stone paths so clean they looked recently made.
He frowned a little. He was sure he had only been gone for a month at most, but the place before him did not feel like something built in that short time.
Children ran past with small beasts beside them. Merchants called out from wooden booths, young beast tamers argued over prices, and several guards moved through the crowd making sure a fight did not break out.
Nox looked around quietly. “Where exactly did I return to?”
A small boy stopped near him. He had messy brown hair, a curious face, and a small wolf cub hiding behind his leg while sniffing at Nox’s boots.
The boy raised his head. “Mister, who are you?”
Nox looked down at him and said without answering his question, “Take me to the person in charge.”
The boy blinked. His wolf cub gave a soft growl, but it quickly lowered its head when Nox glanced at it.
“You don’t know where you are?” the boy asked, looking even more curious now.
“No,” Nox replied. “I have been away for some time.”
The boy studied him for a moment, probably deciding whether he looked dangerous or lost. After a short pause, he nodded and turned around.
“Follow me. The office is this way,” the boy said while tugging the wolf cub along. “But you should not cause trouble. The people here are strong.”
Nox followed him through the plaza. His gaze moved from the beast stalls to the training rings, where young tamers practiced commands with their companions.
“What is this place?” Nox asked.
The boy looked back at him. “This is the Beast Emporium. Everyone knows that.”
Nox’s steps slowed for half a second. “Beast Emporium?”
“Yes,” the boy replied. “It was made for beast tamers, beast traders, and people who want to learn about beasts. There are shops, training grounds, healing rooms, and places to register contracts.”
Nox said nothing at first. His eyes moved toward the center of the plaza, where a large statue stood above a circular fountain.
It was Terra.
The cat goddess had been carved beautifully, with one hand raised and her calm face looking over the whole plaza. Several people walked past the statue with respectful expressions, while a few children placed small flowers near the base.
Nox stared at it for a few seconds. “That’s not a replica… it’s the real thing.”
The boy glanced at the statue with pride. “Of course. Lady Terra is important here. The adults say none of this would exist without her blessing.”
Nox kept walking, but his confusion grew heavier. The human continent had changed more than he expected, and the way people moved around this place made it seem normal.
Some people noticed him as he passed. A few stared at his clothes, while others looked at his face and whispered among themselves.
A woman carrying a basket slowed down. Her eyes widened, but before she could speak, Nox had already walked past.
The boy brought him toward a large building at the edge of the plaza. It had clean stone walls, wide doors, and two guards standing at the entrance with beast badges on their chests.
The guards looked at the boy first, then their eyes moved to Nox. Both of them stiffened slightly, and one of their hands almost moved toward his weapon.
Nox did not react. “Is the person in charge inside?”
The boy nodded quickly. “Yes. Big Sister Serena is usually inside doing paperwork, even though she complains about it all the time.”
Nox’s gaze shifted a little. “Serena?”
The boy pushed the door open and led him inside. The air was quieter there, though distant voices still came from other rooms.
They reached a wooden door near the end of the hall. The boy pointed at it, then stepped aside with his wolf cub.
“She is in there.”
Nox raised his hand and knocked twice.
A tired voice came from inside. “Come in.”
The door opened, and Nox saw a white-haired girl sitting behind a desk covered with papers. Her head was slightly lowered, one hand holding a pen while the other rested against her cheek.
Serena looked lazy and annoyed at the same time. Her eyes moved across a document, and she muttered something under her breath before placing another paper on a tall stack.
“What is it now?” she asked without raising her head. “If it is another complaint about beast feed prices, tell them to argue with the suppliers.”
The boy stepped in first. “Big Sister Serena, someone wanted to see the person in charge.”
Serena sighed and finally raised her head. “Who is—”
Her voice stopped.
The laziness in her eyes vanished so quickly that the boy took one small step back. Her pen slipped from her fingers and rolled across the desk.
Nox stood at the doorway with a neutral expression.
Serena stared at him. Her lips parted slightly, and for a moment she did not move at all.
“Nox?”
The boy looked between them with confusion. The guards in the hallway had gone quiet too, and even the small wolf cub stopped moving.
Serena suddenly pushed her chair back and rushed around the desk. Several papers fell to the floor, but she did not look at them.
“Nox!” she shouted as she reached him and threw her arms around him.
Nox accepted the hug and placed one arm around her back. His face stayed calm, but his hand tightened slightly.
Serena held him tightly, almost as if she feared he would disappear if she loosened her grip. Her breathing shook a little, and her fingers clutched the back of his clothes.
“You finally returned,” she said, her voice filled with relief. “You really came back.”
Nox lowered his gaze to her. “I returned.”
Serena pulled back just enough to look at his face. Her eyes were bright, and her cheeks had a faint color that she tried to hide by lowering her head.
The boy’s mouth opened. “Big Sister Serena, you know him?”
Serena turned sharply. “Of course I know him. This is Nox.”
The boy froze. His wolf cub sat down at once.
“Nox? Is he really the one they call the Pioneer of Beast Taming? The one who drove out the demons from the human continent?”
“I didn’t do it alone,” Nox laughed softly. “Serena, what have you been telling these kids?”
“About that…” She chuckled mischievously while looking away.
Nox glanced at the boy, then back at Serena. “You are in charge here?”
Serena straightened a little and brushed her hair behind her ear. “For now. Someone had to keep things running while Jack and Miss Eve are away.”
Nox reached out and stroked her head once. Serena went still, and her face softened before she quickly looked aside.
“How have you been?” Nox asked. “Who built this place? And how is everyone?”
Serena’s expression changed after hearing those words. The happiness in her eyes faded, and her hands slowly lowered from his clothes. Her face darkened enough for Nox to notice that something was wrong.
