Chapter 213: Chapter 146: Composite Spellcasting and Magic Construction
In the meditation room.
Sunan sat cross-legged on the floor, absorbing the divine energy he had just extracted into his body, then closed his eyes to begin meditating.
More than three hours later, when he finished meditating and opened his eyes to summon the panel, he found that his spiritual power had increased by 0.25.
“Not bad.”
Sunan nodded in satisfaction.
“By next year’s Month of Flowing Fire at the latest, I should be able to construct the sixteenth star ring.”
Rising from the meditation room, Sunan hastened towards Flash City.
After being designated the new capital, Flash City underwent a round of expansion, covering a larger area than before, and becoming even more prosperous.
Walking along the road, one could see foreign caravans and travelers everywhere, bustling with activity, extremely lively.
The expanded Flash City is divided into the royal city, inner city, and outer city.
The outer city is where commoners and farmers reside, while the inner city is mostly home to nobles and the middle class.
The royal city is located in the center of the city, one can see a majestic palace from afar.
Arriving at the royal city, Sunan headed straight for the palace.
Upon entering the forecourt, he saw two maids leading a finely sculpted little boy walking towards him.
“Lord Sunan!”
Upon seeing Sunan, the two maids hurriedly bowed.
The little boy, on the other hand, widened his eyes, curiously examining Sunan.
Seeing the boy’s face, very similar to Kei’s, Sunan instantly understood.
This little guy is Kei’s son, also his nephew Abbott Yanest.
Since the boy was born, it was Sunan’s first time seeing him.
Thinking of himself as an uncle, he felt somewhat inadequate.
Sunan walked over and gently patted the little boy’s head.
The little boy was not shy, he widened his bright black eyes and asked, “Who are you?”
Sunan chuckled, did not respond, and proceeded directly inside.
Only after he walked away, did the two maids straighten up, one softly explained: “Young master Abbott, that was Lord Sunan, your uncle.”
“Uncle?” The little boy still didn’t quite understand the meaning of the word, tilted his head showing a puzzled expression.
But children don’t have a fixed heart, he was quickly distracted by the flowers and plants outside, giggling as he ran out.
“Young master Abbott, be careful.”
Upon reaching the study, Kei was dealing with official duties, upon seeing Sunan arrive, he stopped working with a broad smile.
“What brings you here today?”
“I just saw Abbott, the little guy is quite sturdy.” Sunan casually remarked after sitting down.
Kei laughed, “He’s okay, not as good as Wes.”
Wes is Kei’s second son, who just turned two this year.
Born after Kei ascended to a Legendary Knight, hence his physical constitution is innately stronger.
“When do you plan to start their training?”
“After they turn six.”
After a few casual discussions, Sunan addressed the main topic, proposing to separate the finances of the base from the Starry Duchy.
After hearing this, Kei wasn’t surprised, he smiled, “In fact, I’ve long wanted to discuss this with you.”
In his heart, Kei certainly hoped the base and the Starry Duchy could merge into one and grow stronger together.
But he also knew well that this was impossible.
If the initial cooperation had equal status and mutual benefits, with the base starting to explore the underground world, this balance was disrupted.
Currently, the Starry Duchy is in a weak position in the cooperation.
The most obvious point is that the base’s source of funds no longer depends entirely on the Starry Duchy.
Even without the Starry Duchy’s financial support, relying solely on the profits of the Star Alliance Ore Vein is sufficient to support the base’s development.
On the other hand, the Starry Duchy has consistently relied on the base’s Dragon Blood Fruits, puppets, and demonized weapons for resources.
That’s the situation at present, as the base continues to grow stronger, the disparity between the two will only become more pronounced.
If forced to merge, the more likely outcome would be the Starry Duchy becoming a subordinate of the base.
So after much consideration, Kei felt that separating the finances to form a mutually beneficial trade relationship would indeed be more advantageous to both sides.
Having heard Kei’s thoughts, Sunan was slightly surprised, not expecting his elder brother to have thought it through so thoroughly.
But this also saved him the effort of convincing him.
They both quickly agreed, and immediately began discussing the details.
It wasn’t until dusk that their conversation ended.
“By the way.” Kei suddenly remembered something, “I heard there’s a new armament in the base called Magic Pattern Armor, very powerful?”
Sunan never intentionally concealed the existence of Magic Pattern Armor; it wasn’t surprising Kei knew about it, so he briefly explained its effects.
Upon hearing about it, Kei’s eyes lit up, eagerly asking, “What’s the cost of this item?”
With such powerful equipment, if it could arm an army en masse, it could instantly raise an invincible legion!
Sunan guessed Kei’s thoughts, so he poured cold water: “The lowest level one-star Magic Pattern Armor costs more than eighty Gold Coins, and currently only I can craft them, unable to be mass-produced. Most are used to supply the Knight Guards, if you want, I can only spare you a dozen sets.”
Kei was a bit disappointed, but thinking that as the base grew stronger, Magic Pattern Armor would eventually benefit the duchy’s army, he felt relieved.
…
Starlight Calendar 1257, Month of Flowing Fire (July).
Two Black Rock Leopards halted at the entrance of the base.
Sherman jumped down from the back of a Black Rock Leopard, looking at the familiar base gates, he couldn’t help but feel a bit wistful.
Despite only leaving the base for a year or so, he felt as though much time had passed.
After old Roger passed away, the base had become like home to him.
