Synthetic Wizard - Chapter 246 - 162: Ambush and Alliance (Part 2)

Chapter 246: Chapter 162: Ambush and Alliance (Part 2)
The hunter understood this principle as well. After introductions, they got straight to the point.
“I’ve purposely left some traces along the way. I believe the people from the Eternal Life Association will track us here shortly. Everyone, please set up an ambush in advance.”
The specifics of the plan had already been discussed earlier, so upon hearing this, everyone quickly took action without delay.
Aside from the hunter, Night Owl, the people from the Scepter, and the Holy Fist organization who stayed inside the cavern, the rest left the cave in pairs, finding a concealed place nearby. Once the Eternal Life Association members entered the cavern, they would reveal themselves and block the entrance.
With Sunan was Rose.
The two simultaneously cast the Invisibility Skill and sprinkled some scent-masking potion, beginning their wait.
“The Holy Fist is finished,” Rose suddenly whispered.
Sunan glanced at her and nodded slightly.
The mighty organization of Legendary Knights had been slaughtered by the Eternal Life Association until only six remained.
And after this battle, who knows how many would be left? Even if they successfully resolved the threat of the Eternal Life Association, the Holy Fist, with only a few members remaining, would become merely a name.
However, Sunan was thinking about other aspects.
According to the intelligence gathered so far, the Thorn Flower Duchy and the Eternal Life Association were the only two organizations of Level 3 Wizard Apprentices in the southeastern continent.
Together, the Level 3 Wizard Apprentices from these two organizations comprised at least half of the southeastern continent’s Level 3 Wizard Apprentices.
After today’s battle, only one of them would remain.
The number of Level 3 Wizard Apprentices in the southeastern continent would sharply decline.
“Speaking of which, up until now, I’ve killed four Level 3 Wizard Apprentices,”
Sunan suddenly realized that he seemed to have contributed significantly to the decrease in the number of Level 3 Wizard Apprentices in the southeastern continent.
But this wasn’t necessarily a bad thing.
The continent’s resources were limited, so naturally, the fewer Level 3 Wizard Apprentices, the better.
“Recently, the Cangjin Empire has been frequently mobilizing its military, hinting at targeting the Star Duchy. Did you know about this?” Rose suddenly brought up another topic.
Sunan glanced at Rose, raised an eyebrow, and said, “What, did the Thorn Flower Duchy send you to lobby me?”
“I wouldn’t call it lobbying; after all, it concerns my interests as well,” Rose admitted frankly. “The Cangjin Empire has dominated the southeastern continent for hundreds of years, continuously exploiting surrounding countries, treating them as nourishment for its growth. Many countries have long been resentful, but they dare not resist due to the Cangjin Empire’s formidable military strength.”
“If the Star Duchy were to lead the resistance against the Cangjin Empire, I believe many countries would respond.”
Sunan’s expression turned curious. “We’re currently cooperating to deal with the Eternal Life Association, and yet you’re digging a pit for the Scepter behind their back?”
Rose shrugged, unconcerned, and said, “I don’t know about others, but the Scepter had some friction with the Imperial Family when he was younger. So, he never really felt a sense of belonging to the Cangjin Empire. If you were the one to act, I’m sure he’d have no hesitation in abandoning the Cangjin Empire and aligning with another country. After all, with his capabilities, he could still be a highly esteemed guest in any other nation.”
Sunan’s eyes flickered as he pondered for a moment.
Just as Rose said, aside from rare examples like the Scepter, most Wizard Apprentices from any kingdom’s royalty or Imperial Family have their interests tied to their country.
The prosperity of the Star Duchy would also benefit him and the Star Alliance.
To say the least, if the Star Duchy were to expand, they would inevitably need to procure a large number of potions, puppets, and weapons from the Star Alliance, allowing the Star Alliance to reap enormous profits.
Furthermore, given the Cangjin Empire’s current menacing posture, war would inevitably come if the Star Duchy didn’t take the initiative. It would be better to unite now, seize the initiative, and go on the offensive.
As these thoughts raced through his mind, Sunan quickly came to a decision.
“Alright, I’ll convey your intentions.”
Hearing Sunan agree, Rose’s expression was delighted.
At that moment, her eyes suddenly focused, and she sharply turned her head to look into the distance.
Before her, Sunan had already noticed.
Silently, four figures suddenly appeared in front of the cavern.
Except for the man at the front wearing a robe, who looked somewhat normal, the other three had bizarre appearances.
A woman with an elegant figure and graceful demeanor, but only a pair of eyes on her face.
A figure entirely made of flames, looking like a blurry humanoid silhouette, the gender indistinguishable.
And a man covered in an obsidian shell, revealing only a grayish-blue face.
A segmented tail protruded from his back, ending in an open mouth resembling that of a lamprey.
Obviously, these four were Saulo, Yiluo, Ember, and Stone Scorpion from the Eternal Life Association.
Sunan couldn’t help but silently sigh.
Including Ugo, Bloodmouth, and Demon Hand, who died at his hands, the people from the Eternal Life Association really did favor making themselves seem neither human nor ghost.
To them, the human form was dispensable; they could discard it anytime in pursuit of power.
Only Saulo appeared somewhat normal, but that wasn’t certain either.
Who knew what might be hidden beneath that robe?
To keep a group of monsters in line, Saulo himself might be an even more formidable monster.
Perhaps fearing that the hunter would escape after finally being caught, or maybe due to sufficient confidence in their own strength, the four merely glanced around before charging into the cavern without hesitation.
However, inside the cavern, they discovered not just the hunter, but also seven or eight others.
A group awaited them, watching calmly.
Realizing the situation, Saulo and his companions turned to see a group blocking their escape at the entrance.
“Sunan!”
Saulo immediately recognized Sunan, who wasn’t wearing a mask. After a brief contemplation, he understood the situation.
“I see, so this is a declaration of war from your Woodland Cottage against us.”
Night Owl coldly replied, “Concerning the Star Tower and the hope of becoming a wizard, no Wizard Apprentice can resist this temptation.”
“Indeed,” Saulo nodded calmly.
Despite being surrounded by a vastly larger number of enemies, neither Saulo nor the other three showed any signs of panic.
“Enough talk,”
Ember’s flame mouth curved into a mocking smile.
“Since we’re all here for the Star Tower Key, let’s have a battle. The last one standing gets the spoils. That’s fair, isn’t it?”
As the last word was uttered, Ember’s fiery body swelled as if doused with oil, transforming into a furious flame that surged toward Night Owl and the hunter.
Night Owl winced internally, noting that this guy was indeed a madman.
Before the ambush, the hunter had shared intelligence on the Eternal Life Association.
One key point was that most members of the Eternal Life Association had bloodline rejection issues, leading to altered personalities and tendencies toward extremism and psychological distortion.
Ember was included in this.
He had fused with an ancient bloodline called the Lava Demon, gaining the ability to manipulate fire elements and souls, with a penchant for violence and tormenting souls for fun.
He was an outright madman!
And his current actions confirmed this.
When surrounded and ambushed, to launch an attack and charge into the enemy alone—only a madman would do such a thing.
But derision aside, Night Owl and the hunter were quick to act, casting spells they had prepared in secret and focusing their fire on Ember.
And with that, the battle commenced.
Simultaneously, the rest of the Woodland Cottage members and Puedo’s Holy Fist members charged at the trio led by Saulo.
“Stone Scorpion!” Saulo suddenly ordered.
At his command, the obsidian-clad Stone Scorpion opened his mouth wide, emitting an ear-piercing screech that almost ruptured eardrums!
The screech transformed into a tangible soundwave, quickly cracking the surrounding rock walls and cavern ceiling, sending debris showering down.
Before anyone could react, a thunderous crash resonated, and the cavern collapsed suddenly!
