Synthetic Wizard - Chapter 351 - 214: Battle in the Deep Sea (Part 2)

Sherman and the others looked at each other and ultimately refused.
After all, the Lobster People are an intelligent race, and humanoid creatures at that, eating their flesh felt quite unsettling.
However, Tajana was quite interested in this.
The Dark Elf didn’t care much about that; she was curious about how the taste of Lobster People differed from ordinary lobsters.
But seeing Attila and the others refuse, she had to give up the idea.
Andrea said, “Lobster People typically reside at the intersection of the shallow and deep sea regions. Since we’ve encountered them, it means we’re about to enter the deep sea region soon.”
“We might encounter Deep Sea Naga and Siren Sea Demons next, so we must be careful.”
Upon hearing this, Sherman and the others put away their playful thoughts and nodded gravely.
After entering the deep sea region, the number of Sea Monsters noticeably increased.
Along the way, battles between Sea Monsters could often be seen, large patches of blood dyeing the surrounding sea red, which then attracted more predators, gradually evolving into a massive melee.
According to Andrea, such fights are quite common in the deep sea region.
It’s best to immediately steer clear in such situations; otherwise, it’s easy to get caught in the melee.
Occasionally, Sea Monsters would attack ships, but Sherman and others quickly dealt with them.
With two Level 3 Wizard Apprentices present, there was no need for much concern unless they encountered a Tier Three Legendary Level Sea Monster.
Considering the dangers of this expedition, Sherman and Cole brought along many High-level Rune Gemstones.
Even if something unexpected happens, escaping shouldn’t be hard.
Andrea praised, “With a few of you here, this voyage has become much easier.”
“How did you deal with Sea Monsters before?” Fleming curiously asked.
“They were usually dealt with by golems enchanted with the Floating Skill,” Andrea said with some resignation, “But the golems are too heavy and must be constantly maintained with the Light Spirit Skill to be brought aboard. Even so, the number of golems a ship can carry is very limited.”
Sherman and the others showed expressions of understanding.
The golems often weighed tens of tons and were huge; ordinary ships couldn’t contain many of them.
Even if they all turned into Refined Gold Golems, the ship’s combat power would be very limited; encountering a slightly larger number of Sea Monsters, they’d have no choice but to flee.
Sometimes, escaping wasn’t even possible.
No wonder the exploration and expansion operations in the Rainbow Sea had made little progress.
“City Lord Andrea, rest assured,” Sherman smiled slightly, “The academy has already developed sturdier and larger Magic Ships, and there are also special puppets for underwater action that will soon be mass-produced and deployed here. By then, we’ll have the power to advance into the deep sea.”
Andrea’s expression was filled with joy, “That’s great!”
Heaven knows, over the past few years, she had enough of the grievances with the Deep Sea Naga and Siren Sea Demons and had long wanted to deal with those damnable creatures!
At that moment, a warning suddenly came from the lookout above the deck.
“Approximately two thousand meters ahead, Deep Sea Naga and Siren Sea Demons have been spotted!”
Andrea’s expression changed slightly; she immediately came to the deck’s edge, took the spyglass handed over by her subordinate, and looked into the distance.
Sherman and his group directly activated the Keen Eye rings on their ears; a flash of blue light passed their eyes, and their vision rapidly zoomed in on the sea surface two thousand meters away.
On the wide sea surface, an intense battle was underway.
One side was a group of humanoid creatures with a snake-like lower body, covered in scales, somewhat resembling Human-faced Lion Nobility, yet their bodies boasted a set of sea-blue scales and webbed hands and feet.
“Deep Sea Naga!”
Although he hadn’t seen them in person before, Fleming immediately recognized the origins of these humanoid creatures.
They were much like the pictures he had seen in books.
His gaze turned to the other side of the battle.
There was a group of sturdy Sea Demons riding on Headhunter Sharks, also humanoid creatures with long, slender snake tails.
Those were Siren Sea Demons.
People unfamiliar with these two races might easily confuse them.
In reality, though, these two races have several distinctions.
The Deep Sea Naga’s bodies have already evolved with fish-like features, while the upper body of Siren Sea Demons is almost identical to humans.
Moreover, Deep Sea Naga is a race with both male and female members, whereas the Siren Sea Demons only exist as females; their true race belongs to the Banshee type.
They are semi-undead creatures wandering the seas, but the sea has given them new bodies.
Siren Banshees are not numerous, but most of them are quite powerful.
They are adept in the Illusion Technique, with astonishing beauty and deadly, enchanting voices capable of controlling other marine species, making them exceedingly dangerous.
It is noteworthy that Siren Banshees are not born through mating but are nurtured by the sea, barely counting as a kind of natural spirit, though they represent an evil portion of the ocean.
In the ongoing battle, the Deep Sea Naga had a numerical advantage, almost twice that of the Siren Sea Demons, but in reality, it was the Siren Sea Demons who had the upper hand.
They wielded tridents and showcased exquisite combat skills to fight against multiple opponents, occasionally singing to cast illusions.
Even from two thousand meters away, one could vaguely hear that lovely and melodious song.
Standing nearby, Blue Scales was already dazed, subconsciously stepping forward to jump into the sea, only to be slapped awake by Fleming, he then rolled and crawled into the cabin, covering his ears, not daring to listen to the singing anymore.
“How strange,” Attila showed a hint of surprise on her face, “The combat skills these Siren Sea Demons are using seem to have traces of Knight’s skills.”
The girl turned her head to look at Cole.
Among those present, Cole’s proficiency in Knight skills was the deepest.
Besides his status as a Level 3 Wizard Apprentice, he was also a Junior Grand Knight.
“Indeed, there are traces of Knight skills, and they are quite exquisite, not the common variety, likely from a renowned source,” Cole said, frowning.
Although Siren Sea Demons engaged in melee combat too, their cultural development limited them. They couldn’t possess Knight skills as refined as humans; they mostly used straightforward combat techniques.
The current scene didn’t match the intelligence about Siren Sea Demons from their books.
“Not only that, did you notice,” Sherman suddenly spoke, “Isn’t the power of the Siren Sea Demons’ singing a bit overwhelming?”
The others were momentarily astonished, then displayed a contemplative expression.
With Sherman’s reminder, they suddenly realized that even at a distance of two thousand meters, the Siren Sea Demons’ singing could still affect them here, causing Blue Scales to fall into a stupor; the power was indeed astonishing.
Either the intelligence they had seen in the Wizard’s Scripture about Siren Sea Demons was wrong, or there was something peculiar about these Siren Sea Demons themselves.
Sherman asked Andrea, “Are all Siren Sea Demons like this?”
Andrea shook her head, “We actually noticed this issue too. Before entering the deep sea region, we captured some shallow sea marine groups to inquire about Siren Sea Demon intelligence, but the intelligence we got differed from the Siren Sea Demons we encountered. We suspect the Siren Sea Demons might have gradually changed in the last few decades.”
“Previously, in the deep sea region, the Deep Sea Naga were the most powerful intelligent race, always suppressing the Siren Sea Demons. But in recent decades, the Siren Sea Demons have gradually overtaken the Deep Sea Naga.”
“From what I understand, the Deep Sea Naga have suffered significant defeats at the hands of the Siren Sea Demons in recent major battles.”
As if to verify Andrea’s words, the outcome of the battle in the distance had already been decided.
Under the fierce attack of the Siren Sea Demons, the Deep Sea Naga were utterly defeated, scattering in all directions, only to be swiftly pursued and stabbed to death by the Siren Sea Demons riding on Headhunter Sharks.
In the end, only a few Deep Sea Naga managed to escape.
And after the battle, this group of Siren Sea Demons did not stop there.
Accompanied by a low conch sound, the Siren Sea Demons altered their course, charging towards the ship while riding on Headhunter Sharks.
