The First Legendary Beast Master - Chapter 1776 Everyone Needs Something

While Opal was busy in the warehouse, Karl and the Elders were busy making sure that everything was set up for the first day here in the new territory. They had checked the school, which was running smoothly already, just changing locations and using the new materials that had been provided. But the shops were coming online much faster than the Elders had expected. With everything destroyed, many of them were short on stock. But everyone kept supplies and some product in their inventory, so they hadn’t lost everything.
The Runecrafters were their next stop, as they needed guidance to be able to effectively use their skills. Knowing the language could get them a start, but without any leadership, it would be all trial and error to find out what actually worked, and what combinations would lead to desired effect, and what could be left out to save space without losing effectiveness.
And with so little to their names, the Blackwoods Pack needed as much as they could get this month. It was perfect for everyone, as the New Home also needed Uncommon and Rare Grade items, like they assumed the new Runecrafters would make. It was the most affordable of gear, to fill the trade ships.
Elder Malcolm’s area, the docks and the outlying regions of the Clan Compound, had taken the worst damage of anything during the battle, and while they had made some efforts to repair the area and refloat some of the sunken ships, there was a lot left to do.
With damaged magical ships in the harbour, they couldn’t get anything in or out until they were fixed. That was a real issue for the “trade” part of the Guild’s name, and there weren’t any suitably deep bays nearby for them to create an alternate dock.
There was a very small one at the former Hyperion Sect’s territory, but that would not keep up with everything that moved through the city. It also would fix the Clan’s reputation as a reliable trading partner.
Technically, they didn’t owe the merchants who lost their ships in the crossfire. They had paid them out of the collected resources of the defeated Clans, but most of the wealth had been looted before they got there.
So, there wasn’t much to go around, and some of the ships had been so heavily damaged that their cargo holds were destroyed.
The Blue Elves had managed to repair and float their ship already, and it had left with most of its supplies intact, suffering only minor losses, beyond a week down and the materials for repairs.
They did plan to return after a trip to an Elven repair facility, where they could get back to full capability. Elder Malcolm didn’t ask where that was, but they likely wouldn’t tell him anyhow. That wasn’t how they worked, and their home base was likely to be a pirate controlled territory. Not somewhere that they could just go and look for a Captain.
If they weren’t ready to receive the Elves when they came back, they would put a new spot on their trade route, and that would cost the Clan a solid customer, who was willing to pay good prices for goods that others in the region weren’t interested in. The majority of the merchants wanted the raw materials that the Clan gathered, they didn’t buy much for magical items. So, the Clan bought and sold goods both from inland and from the trade ships, giving them a way to find higher paying customers for nearly anything, without having many craftsmen in their own Clan.
Recovering from the attacks had been harder on him than any of the other Elders. None of their major buildings had been damaged, other than his docks. It was the residential areas that had it worst during the attacks. So, he was alone in his suffering.
So, when he got a message that Karl had recruited a Lycan pack that had gained the Runecrafting skill, it was a great opportunity for him. As the other Elders were getting ready to head back, including a reluctant Elder Socrate, who was happy to stay with Remi and work on the greenhouses that they were building in the new town.
They would be good for both the food supply and the alchemists.
Dealing with Elder Socrate was an art that the other Elders had mastered decades ago, though.
“Elder Socrate, you’ve been gone for days, and there is nobody there to do quality control for the apprentices, or to make sure that the counter is counting the pills properly by grade.” Elder Douglas reminded him.
That was all that it took to get the Alchemy Elder moving.
Karl had promised a portal array, so he could come back in a few days and check on the greenhouses once the plants were properly rooted and hopefully growing well.
Remi had used a lot of magic on the greenhouse, including multiple weather control spells, so it should be fine. But you couldn’t leave things to chance in a new territory with unpredictable mana flows.
“Karl! Have you seen the kids? I need to find them so we can get volunteers for the back rooms of the warehouse.” Min asked, with a wave for the Elders, who were still trying to get Socrate to stop talking about plants and leave the greenhouse.
“Yep, they’re at the bakery with Leo. Well, the younger ones, anyhow. I don’t know where all the older ones went. I think that they’re throwing a party for Lucille, Elder Blackwoods’ daughter. She got the Golem Mage Class the other day, and they haven’t had a chance to celebrate since. If you find that party, you’ll find all the kids the right age to be running goods in the warehouse.”
That gave Min direction. How hard could it be to find a bunch of teenage Lycans?
They were almost certainly in the woods, trying to pretend that their parents hadn’t noticed them sneaking away to party unsupervised.
