THE GOD EATER - Chapter 449: Unwilling Informant.

Chapter 449: Unwilling Informant.
They don’t expect that the battle will be done in less than a month and they don’t expect their side to win. In fact, they are already betting on how many people will survive the Heavenly Battlefield.
None of the soldiers knew that they were most likely being sent to their deaths. But even if they knew, there would be some people who still wouldn’t be willing to give up. Loki and one other person are people who would be willing to give up after coming so close to their goal.
On Loki’s side, his vision disappeared for a brief moment as he was transported into the small world. When he regained his vision, he found himself in a desert.
As far as he could see, there was golden sand and rolling dunes. There was a sandstorm rolling across the desert.
There was no plant or animal in sight. There was only sand and more sand. But Loki wasn’t fooled into believing that this desert was barren and lifeless.
He could tell that this desert was full of living things of various kinds. This was because he could see the minds of various things around him.
Right now, he was looking at the sand storm. From what he could tell, there were more than a hundred thousand minds in the sandstorm.
This made him curl his lips and say in jest, “Does this count as a city? It should, right?”
If he were to ask the inhabitants of that sandstorm this question, they would surely claim that the sandstorm is a city. This is because they are wind elementals and built this sandstorm from the ground up, just like any city.
Just to be sure, he decided to ask the inhabitants of the city. He also had other questions, such as where their world guardians are, so he decided to ask them some other things too.
He stayed where he was and extended his mind into the sandstorm with the Mind Network Metac. Then he used the Memory Reading Metac to get the information he wanted.
He could have used the Thought Reading Metac and the Hypnosis Metac to slowly interrogate the mind of the target and safely extract information from them. But that would be too slow for his liking.
He wanted the information fast, and he didn’t care about the consequences of his impatience. Plus, there were many targets to extract information from, so he shattered the minds of many wind people to get what he wanted.
From their minds, he learned that this world is a world inhabited by beast people of various races and elementals of various kinds. These wind people are just one of the races of elementals.
The sandworms beneath his feet are examples of beast people. These sandworms are not humanoid at all. This isn’t strange or out of place in this world because no beast race is humanoid.
But every race of beast people is intelligent, social, and has formed a community. Some are even on their way to building a civilization by building cities and establishing systems of government.
The elementals and the beast people form the main inhabitants of this small world. They grow old, reproduce, and die. None of them can cultivate and grow stronger beyond what their race is capable of. So they are like normal people from his past life on Earth.
Above this class of inhabitants are the gods. These gods are great beings of great power and are worshipped by the inhabitants of this world.
The people he extracted information from didn’t know how gods came to be. They all believed that gods are forces of nature that have existed since the beginning of the world.
According to history, there are supposed to be five gods. They are the wind god, the storm god, the fire god, the sea god, and the mountain god. The mountain god is said to be the strongest.
After reviewing the information he had acquired, he said to himself, ’The gods should be the world guardians. The mountain god should be the world king.’
’The mountain god should be the one who fought the divine being and lost. So there should be only four world guardians left.’
’If I am right, then the symbol of authority should be with one of the world guardians. It is either that or they left the symbol of authority somewhere to hide it.’
’Hiding it is not a bad idea, and if I were them, I would have the sea god hide the symbol of authority somewhere in the seas. That way it will be difficult to find.’
Then he remembered something, which made him shake his head and say, ’But if they leave the symbol of authority just lying about, it will make it too easy for one of the seers to find and take it.’
’Then again, there are only four world guardians and 15 rank 5 cultivators. They are outnumbered nearly 4 to 1, so it should be easy for the world guardians to be defeated even if they work together to guard the symbol of authority.’
His voice was laced with pity as he said, ’So no matter what they do, they will lose, and they will lose quickly. What a shame.’
Then he looked up at the sky and said, ’This is all the fault of the will of the world. Why did it create so few world guardians? Isn’t that too stingy?’
’It also didn’t allow the inhabitants of this world to grow stronger. So even rank 4 cultivators can act without restraint in this world.’
`Why would it hoard its resources like this? Doesn’t it know that the stronger the people of its world, the stronger the cumulative resistance of the world will be against invaders?’
`Whatever! I shouldn’t complain. After all, this situation is good for me too.’
As he said this, he began to make his move.
The first thing he did was to reactivate the energy chamber with the Vengeful Bones Metac. Then he activated the Shifting Armor Metac.
