The Innkeeper - Chapter 2233: A natural progression of events

Chapter 2233: A natural progression of events
Fenrir was a pure blooded Fenrir, inheriting the full might of his Mythical ancestor who also happened to be a Deity. Thus, the bloodline he inherited was that of a Mythical being that also allowed him to control divine energy.
It was incredibly powerful, and yet, on a universal scale, it was middling. That was before he got some upgrades inside Abaddon, and that would have eventually helped him surpass his supposed bloodline limits!
But what might happen to a beast capable of controlling divine energy if they hibernate inside a place called Arch-Heaven? Probably a lot of cool things, but Lex would never find out, because when Fenrir went to sleep he was not affected by the divine energy inside Arch-Heaven – instead, he was affected by the feedback from his bond to Lex.
At this point, even Lex wasn’t sure what part of him had affected Fenrir. Was it his Dragonheart? His Phoenix DNA? His Primordialness? Maybe it was his developing Dao body, or the Nephilim stuff. Maybe it was just his sheer awesomeness.
Whatever it was, when Fenrir arrived inside the Dream realm, his realm was not too high – he was merely level 7 Heaven Immortal. However, his entire body and bloodline had experienced an overhaul!
While Lex could not tell what internal changes his little pup had gone through, externally each and every single blade of hair that covered Fenrir’s body had turned into some kind of crystal, while somehow retaining its original softness and malleability.
The crystal fur gave him a special kind of sheen, making him appear both impressive and intimidating. It seemed to be a fur equivalent of dragon scales!
Fenrir opened his eyes which had now become deep golden, almost matching the color of the Midnight Inn key. Usually, the pup would be happy to see Lex, or feel its growth, but not now.
The moment he entered the Dream realm, he sensed him! Fenrir sensed the presence of the wolf that had tortured him in youth, and the one that had captured his sister!
Fenrir stood up and howled into the air, all his erupting emotions channeled into that one howl.
Lex was not surprised. In fact, the reason he had summoned Fenrir was for this very reason. He had a feeling that someone was trying to control him – he felt like he was standing on a Go board, fighting against an invisible opponent.
It was just a feeling he had – not even an indication from his instincts, but a conclusion he made based on his own life experiences. After all, Lex firmly believed that nothing normal would ever happen to him, so he should always be on the lookout for something abnormal.
If he was playing against an opponent, he needed to disrupt his plans as much as possible while leaving himself as many opportunities as possible.
At the same time, in front of Daekol, the wolf was circling Almira when suddenly it looked away. It heard the challenge, and recognised the aura. It was from the very cub he had been searching for! Moreover, the cubs strength was far stronger than he had anticipated – fortunately, it was not to the point where he needed to run.
The wolf glared at Almira once, and then began running away. It had heard the challenge, and it would answer. After all, getting his hands on that bloodline was far more important than anything else!
Daekol did not stir when he saw this happen. In fact, this was a part of his plan. He needed to isolate Lex, and getting rid of his regular allies was the first and most important task. The wolf was gone, but that was far from the extent of his plans. But… everything needed to follow a natural, believable progression.
Daekol closed his eyes, and used his will to completely erase all signs of his activity for the past few years. Although he had decided to call Lex early, it would not happen instantly. Rather, it would follow a number of steps and take a certain amount of time, just long enough for the chaos caused by the arrival of countless Dao Lords to start affecting the Dream realm.
As an agent of Chaos, Daekol understood well how to use chaos to his advantage.
Lex watched silently as Fenrir began running, but did not immediately follow. Instead, he sent a Karmic clone behind Fenrir to watch what happened.
Naturally, he had no intention of leaving Fenrir to fight an unknown enemy on his own.
Unfortunately for Lex, the dream realm interfered. It had been that wolf’s dream to find Fenrir and tear him apart, recovering his lost bloodline for quite a long time now.
While the realm did not make the dream itself come true, it facilitated it quite a bit!
Lex lost sight of Fenrir, but their connection could not be cut off. He could forcefully summon Fenrir to his side if he wished, and he could feel Fenrir’s emotional and physical state. If there was any danger, Lex would summon Fenrir to his side!
At the same time, he sped up his search for Qawain even more. Although Lex himself did not know the details of what had happened within the Dream realm recently, his instincts were telling him that it had, instantaneously, become much more dangerous.
The rumors of the Red Moon devil kept spreading, but at a much slower rate. Nowadays, there were other kinds of rumors spreading around.
It was said that countless new races had entered the realm, many of which were strange and unknown. Two more days later, Lex paused.
An aura of a Demi-Dao Lord had appeared within the Dream tavern once again, and it was the exact same werewolf centaur that had invaded the tavern the last time. Logically it couldn’t be the same one, and yet he appeared to have the same aura, and had the signs of a failed Dao tribulation on him.
This was bad. Although Lex had a charged Butter Knife with him inside the Inn on his projection, he did not want to repeatedly attack with the Butter Knife. The more frequently he did that, the greater the chances that someone would begin to notice a pattern. Unfortunately, it was not really up to him.
Just as he was about to draw the knife and attack the centaur werewolf, another Demi-Dao Lord aura appeared!
