The Young Urban Doctor - Chapter 2429 2429: Regret Is Inevitable

(Two additional chapters today)
Ling Ruonan will be leaving Qingfeng Village tomorrow; this evening, Luo Ziling is sleeping with her again.
Such a big boy still sleeping with his parents might seem unbelievable to many.
Some even wonder if there’s an inappropriate relationship between the mother and son.
Of course, those who understand Luo Ziling the most, like Ouyang Feifei and Yang Qingyin, know very well the purpose behind the arrangement between mother and son.
For Ling Ruonan, her greatest regret in life is not raising Luo Ziling.
This is the place where Luo Ziling has lived since childhood, and it’s Ling Ruonan’s first visit.
She has never slept in the bed Luo Ziling has slept on for so many years.
When Luo Ziling needed his mother the most, she wasn’t by his side. Except for the first three months, she never held Luo Ziling again or slept with him. Now, spending some time in the place where Luo Ziling grew up, she has many feelings.
Joining him on the bed he’s slept in for years can somewhat make up for past regrets.
Though she can’t hold Luo Ziling in her arms anymore, nor does she need to hum lullabies to lull him to sleep, the mother and son facing each other on the bed feeling close is a form of compensation and comfort for them both.
Moreover, Ling Ruonan is leaving this place tomorrow.
Who knows if there will be another chance to come here again, to the place where Luo Ziling spent twenty years of his life.
Therefore, seeing Luo Ziling sleeping with Ling Ruonan again, both Ouyang Feifei and Yang Qingyin felt a bit wistful.
That night, Ling Ruonan went to sleep very late, and so did Luo Ziling.
Ling Ruonan pleaded with Luo Ziling to talk to her, to tell her amusing tales from Qingfeng Village from when he became aware.
Luo Ziling didn’t refuse Ling Ruonan’s request and shared all the amusing stories he could remember.
Ling Ruonan listened, sometimes laughing, sometimes crying, not showing the demeanor of a strong woman, with the vulnerability of a weak woman fully displayed before Luo Ziling. Eventually, Luo Ziling himself wiped away his tears.
He recalled the years of yearning for motherly love in Qingfeng Village and the resentment towards Ling Ruonan for not visiting him.
Thinking of these, he couldn’t control his emotions.
Ultimately, mother and son hugged and cried, like when they first met.
After a bout of crying and laughing, Ling Ruonan finally grew too tired, lying deeply asleep in Luo Ziling’s embrace.
Upon waking for the second time, she maintained the same posture.
After getting up, Ling Ruonan started packing, preparing to leave.
Luo Ziling personally escorted Ling Ruonan away.
Besides, the crew members are arriving here today, so he will take the opportunity to welcome Zhao Lijing, Yang Ying, and others.
Luo Yuqing and Dai Shulan also left together; they too were going to welcome the crew and temporarily stay with them to discuss the filming of the later part of the script. Yang Qingyin and Ouyang Feifei, not minding the fatigue, also wanted to accompany Luo Ziling and Luo Yuqing in seeing Ling Ruonan off.
Ling Ruonan tried persuading them several times to no avail, so she just let them be.
At eleven in the morning, the well-packed Ling Ruonan left the small mountain village she had longed for twenty years, finally visiting but leaving swiftly, accompanied by a large crowd.
When stepping out of the house, she couldn’t help but look back, her gaze complicatedly observing the spacious yet simply furnished small house that she felt fondly toward.
While passing other neighbors’ houses, she actively greeted the villagers who came out to watch, thanking them for caring for Luo Ziling over the years. Moreover, she generously gave each neighbor waving her goodbye a red envelope.
She had wanted to give each person a red envelope upon arrival, but due to Luo Ziling, it wasn’t realized.
On the day she arrived, Luo Ziling brought her directly into the village, galloping on horseback to the front of the house.
She hadn’t even gotten a clear look of the village before standing at the “home” where Luo Ziling and Luo Liansheng lived twenty years ago.
Now leaving, she walked out of the village.
Those seemingly honest villagers felt very affectionate to her.
She envied them, for they witnessed Luo Ziling’s growth, knowing how he grew up more than her, the mother. She sincerely thanked them and offered her heartfelt gesture.
Most villagers here came to hide from trouble; their ancestors fled war or pursued enemies to come.
Their lives were difficult; one of Ling Ruonan’s red envelopes equaled half a year’s income.
Thus, they were filled with gratitude towards the mother of Luo Ziling, who turned out exquisitely beautiful.
Upon hearing of her impending departure, every household brought out good items to gift her.
Ling Ruonan happily accepted them, reluctant to refuse their goodwill.
After crossing the creek, upon reaching the hillside opposite, Ling Ruonan stopped again, nostalgically looking back at the unforgettable memory-laden village.
Qingfeng Village is truly picturesque, thankfully Luo Ziling didn’t grow up in a poor and harsh place.
About to leave soon, uncertain of returning again, feelings of melancholy stirred within Ling Ruonan.
Holding Luo Ziling’s hand, looking back at the village, her tears couldn’t help but flow again.
The others, fearing discomfort for Ling Ruonan, stood quite far away.
After standing hand in hand with Luo Ziling for a moment, she forced a smile and spoke, “Ling’er, why don’t we take some pictures here with Qingfeng Village as the background?”
“Sure!” Luo Ziling agreed readily, handing his phone to Yang Qingyin, who stood aside, seeking her help to take photos.
Upon hearing Ling Ruonan wanted a joint photo with Luo Ziling, others took out their phones to assist in capturing moments.
Facing numerous phones, Ling Ruonan tightly held onto Luo Ziling’s arm, showing the sweetest smile she believed, resting her head on his shoulder. Mother and son clicked several intimate photos, but Ling Ruonan still did not release Luo Ziling’s arm.
After seeing the photos Yang Qingyin displayed, Ling Ruonan smiled contentedly.
“When we return, let’s select some of the best photos to develop; I want to hang them in my room.”
Ling Ruonan’s suggestion would naturally not meet with opposition from Luo Ziling.
“Mrs. Ling, do you wish to return here sometime?” Luo Yuqing whispered.
These words stunned Ling Ruonan; she turned back at the village looking as if hidden in a painting, then looked at the field separated by a creek from the village and the distant cedar forest.
“Most parents can accompany their children growing up; in their twilight years, they wish for children to be with them into old age, accompanying them to their life’s end. I can only regret!” Ling Ruonan appeared sorrowful: “If possible, I’d surely come back here with Ziling. I missed the chance to accompany him growing, and can’t possibly be with him into old age, this life’s regrets are bound to remain unfulfilled. All I can do is cherish life with Ziling, protect and accompany him as much as possible, so he’s happy.”
Her words instantly touched Luo Ziling’s tear ducts, compelling him to wipe his eyes.
