Trash of the Count's Family - Book 2: Chapter 389: The Birth of Evil (6)

<The Birth of Evil (6)>
Can you save me?
Alberu and Rosalyn’s eyes clouded over the moment they heard those words come out of Chief of Staff Kang Geun Mok’s mouth.
‘There’s something there.’
‘…This person is holding something even more important than the lab.’
Alberu had an instinctive feeling that Kang Geun Mok knew something they needed beyond Earth 3 or the Raising my very own precious omnipotent god game. He felt like this person knew something that would fundamentally help them fight against the Hunters.
“…….”
But he remained silent.
He did not do anything at all.
Because-
“From what?”
Cale Henituse was someone who, better than anybody else, would never miss something like this.
“What do you want us to save you from?”
Cale had pulled back his Dominating Aura as he stared at Kang Geun Mok.
Kang Geun Mok took a deep breath.
“…….”
He temporarily regretted the words he said. However, he opened his mouth again after looking into Cale’s eyes.
He could not avoid the eyes that had been the only thing shining in that dreadful illusion.
“When I was young…”
Kang Geun Mok revealed a dreadful memory.
“Ah. One moment please.”
He pulled out his phone.
“Hmm?”
As Rosalyn raised an eyebrow and her gaze was about to turn scary…
“Honorary Chairman Han Taek Soo will send someone here if I do not contact him.”
Kang Geun Mok showed the phone screen to Cale.
< Will be delayed about 10 minutes to leave. >
Cale checked the message and looked back at Kang Geun Mok.
“It is a message to one of the secretaries stationed at the Chairman’s residence.”
He then added on, almost in a sigh.
“I am being very sincere when I am asking to be saved.”
Cale nodded his head.
He had no reason to suspect that Kang Geun Mok was scheming against them right now.
– If things fall through, we just have to run.
As long as he had a mage like Rosalyn and Alberu with him, he was confident about running away from any of Han Taek Soo’s subordinates, as long as he himself did not show up.
He could do it while abducting Kang Geun Mok in the process.
“Continue.”
Cale told Kang Geun Mok to continue.
He did gain about 10 minutes, but he needed to hurry because it was a long story.
“When I was young, I went to work at a celebration hosted by the House of Han.”
‘A celebration?’
As Rosalyn looked confused…
“!”
Cale’s eyes clouded over.
He opened his mouth to speak.
“A celebration hosted by the Transparents?”
“…How did you-?!”
Kang Geun Mok looked at Cale in shock.
Based on how old Cale looked, he shouldn’t know about that celebration.
But Cale had an idea about what this celebration must have been.
‘It seems to be that celebration.’
To be more specific, he had heard about it.
‘The Central Plains.’
The Blood Demon.
When he was in the Central Plains to fight against the Blue Bloods…
Cale had fought against the jiangshi creating Old man Baek.
He had said something as soon as he saw Cale.
‘I will turn you into a god.’
Cale’s plate already had a world within it, and that was supposedly the plate of a god.
Similar to the King’s Successor that the Hunters were trying to turn into the omnipotent god, Old man Baek was the first person to tell Cale that he also had a god’s plate.
‘Should I say that I can see what is inside humans? Or maybe that I can see their limits?’
Old man Baek had a special set of eyes.
He said he could see a person’s true nature.
‘Anyway, when I was very young, I once participated in a celebration held by the Transparents.’
He had mentioned this celebration once.
Cale pulled out some records in his mind one by one.
‘I was able to see the King’s Successor despite it being very far away.’
The celebration was where Old man Baek saw the King’s Successor, the person who would become the omnipotent god.
He had seen what was within that person.
“Did you see the King’s Successor at the celebration?”
Cale asked.
“Ah.”
Kang Geun Mok gasped.
He clenched his fists.
“H, have you also seen the King’s Successor?”
In that case-!
This person should know why he is so scared right now!
“No.”
Cale shook his head.
“I have only heard that the King’s Successor showed up at that celebration. I have never seen the King’s Successor.”
The stern voice made Kang Geun Mok’s fist lose strength, but Kang Geun Mok was able to speak a bit calmer now.
At least this person knew of the King’s Successor.
Since this person says he knows about that dreadful thing, he should say it.
“At that time, I went to that celebration hosted by the House of Han to do a part-time job. Naturally, outsiders like me could only help with the preparation and external work and did not get to know much about the celebration itself.”
Yes. It should have been like that, but-
“It happened while I headed toward the food storage for some ingredients.”
The food storage. That place was located a bit away from the Han Residence.
Of course, he saw some people working there as well. There seemed to be more staff around there than usual, probably because of the celebration.
Most were from the House of Han and only a portion of them were temporary staff hired externally.
“I saw a child there.”
A child.
Cale instantly realized that this was the King’s Successor.
“And?”
Kang Geun Mok continued after Cale’s gentle urging.
His hands were shaking more now.
“That child said that he was hungry.”
A child saying that he was hungry right in front of the food storage.
The people in front of the food storage told the child, whose face was covered by a bandana, to go toward the dining area. But the child just continued to say that he was hungry.”
Kang Geun Mok had watched it all.
And he could not move.
He felt like he should not approach this child.
“I felt an unexplainable ominous feeling while looking at that child’s back. I hid myself instead of going toward the food storage.”
He felt as if that was what he should do.
“I then saw it.”
Kang Geun Mok’s voice started to shake.
He could not stand his hands shaking anymore and clutched his pants.
“The child pulled of the bandana, and, t, that monster-”
That dreadful evil spirit-
“I, it ate those people.”
He then looked toward Cale.
“How?”
Kang Geun Mok unconsciously stopped shaking after seeing that Cale was not surprised and looked completely calm despite what he said.
It was not just Cale’s eyes that were calm. Kang Geun Mok saw the flames in Cale’s eyes and subconsciously started speaking louder.
“He did not eat those people’s bodies! That bastard-”
Kang Geun Mok realized that his voice had become louder. He also noticed that he was covered in cold sweat again.
He became calm.
Just like Cale in front of him.
“Once that bastard extended his hand, all of the people working in that area suddenly knelt toward him.”
That had truly been a weird sight.
The person who had been kind enough to tell the child where the dining area was…
The person who had stuck his head out to see what was going on…
The part-timers who had been blankly standing there…
Everybody knelt down.
“Their eyes were completely empty.”
Then the child said something.
“The child, who had been saying he was hungry, said something else.”
It was the first time he said something else.
“He said, ‘I think it is meal time now.’”
Those were his exact words.
“Then all hell broke loose.”
Actually, it was too eccentric to call it hell.
“Do you know about the five desires and seven emotions?”
“I do.”
Five emotions and seven desires.
“Joy, anger, sadness, pleasure, love, hatred, and desire.”
The seven emotions.
“I saw all seven of those emotions in the people there.”
They suddenly became joyful. Then suddenly sad. Then suddenly angry.
They went through all those emotions with blank eyes, and then-
“At the end, they all fell to the ground like puppets that had their strings cut.”
They died.
“Their body had died.”
But that wasn’t all.
“After that, something came out of their bodies. I believed it to be their souls.”
A memory he could not forget despite it being fifty years later.
That dreadful moment that returned to him whenever he tried to sleep…
“That child suddenly snickered, and then… He pointed at those souls one after another.”
Kang Geun Mok raised his hand and started pointing in the air. It was as if he was recreating that moment.
One.
“Being sad suits you.”
Then another. And then another.
“Joy for you. Anger for you.”
After pointing at all of the souls…
“Those souls all turned into the emotion that the child dictated. Then that child slowly opened his mouth and…started to consume the souls one by one.”
He looked as if he was eating things that were very sweet and delicious.
The innocent-looking child started to eat them all.
“I saw an illusion every time he consumed a soul.”
It happened with each soul consumed.
“Actually, I still can’t tell whether it was an illusion or if it was real.”
But Kang Geun Mok had this unexplainable feeling that it was not an illusion.
“A soul that was dictated to be angry, the moment the soul that had only an angry face left was consumed by him… Underneath the child’s feet… His shadow became bigger and I saw a pit of angry people.”
That-
“That truly was hell. Everybody was angry. But although their faces only showed anger, they were begging to be saved, full of resignation and despair.”
He could not hear anything.
He only saw angry faces.
But Kang Geun Mok could clearly feel the emotions of these souls.
He was certain that what was in that pit was despair.
“Sadness, joy, hatred. I saw all those souls fall into their respective hells. And all of those hells…were full of despair.”
Even the pit full of laughing souls…
Even the pit full of happy souls…
All that remained were the silent, not visible grudges and despair of the souls.
“All seven pits were within that child’s shadow. There were lots of souls in those pits. To be completely honest with you, I could not even count them all.”
Kang Geun Mok’s voice started speeding up.
He continued to speak extremely quickly, as if he was releasing rapid breaths.
“I, I could just feel it. Each of those pits felt like a whole world. Yes, that describes it.”
This was the first time in fifty years he was talking about what he saw that day.
“They each felt like their own little worlds.”
A world of despair full of only one emotion.
“That child had those seven worlds in his shadows, right under his feet.”
That child laughed as he did that.
The way he looked-
“He looked like the god of hell, standing there, stepping over hell.”
“Mm.”
Rosalyn groaned.
This was different from the enemies she had faced until now. This was clearly different.
Kang Geun Mok’s shoulders curled in.
“It was at that moment that someone grabbed my shoulder.”
Cale opened his mouth.
“Honorary Chairman Han Taek Soo?”
“Yes sir. This is what he said to me.”
The young Han Taek Soo had smiled as he said it.
“You have good instincts.”
There wasn’t much to say after that.
“I was knocked unconscious by one of Chairman Han Taek Soo’s subordinates. When I woke back up, I could not see that child or anything related to that incident. I have been serving Chairman Han Taek Soo since then. Pfft.”
Kang Geun Mok laughed.
“The Chairman said that he would turn me into food if I ever betrayed him.”
Food.
It meant that he would end up as food for that child.
“I, I am not scared of dying. But I do not want to fall into that hell and not even be allowed to face true death. I do not wish to live like that.”
Kang Geun Mok blankly looked up.
“…That was truly dreadful.”
The emotion behind those words were extremely clear.
“I’ve seen quite a lot of dreadful things being by Chairman Han Taek Soo’s side until now, but that was the worst.”
Cale observed Kang Geun Mok and the clearly visible emotion he was letting out as he recalled a record once more.
“…Each pit was like a world-”
Old man Baek had said something about it.
‘Numerous despair, delight, joy, sadness, good and evil. It was full of their screams. That was definitely not something a human could hold as he lives.’
‘The world within the King’s Successor was terrible. It was not beautiful at all. It was scary.’
That bastard, the King’s Successor, carries those kinds of things and says he is hungry and that it is time to eat?
Cale felt like he was seeing a bit of the true nature of his final enemy.
Kang Geun Mok resumed speaking at that moment.
“I know it.”
He knew a lot about Chairman Han after spending so much time with him.
“In the end, my end will be that hell. There is no way Chairman Han will give me a peaceful death.”
Chairman Han was an extremely terrible monster.
“Please save me.”
The corners of Kang Geun Mok’s lips rose up.
They were shaking.
“The fact that you know Chairman Han’s true identity should mean that you know about everything I have done as well, right? I am not asking for forgiveness or anything like that.”
Cale’s face turned odd.
Honestly speaking, he had expected that Kang Geun Mok would have done a lot of terrible deeds until now. It did not matter if he was threatened or whatever.
“All I ask is that you give me a peaceful death.”
Kang Geun Mok looked as if he was about to cry.
“I do not want to fall into that hell.”
It was a face that did not fit someone who had served under Chairman Han for fifty years out of fear. It didn’t seem like the face of someone who had done all sorts of evil deeds until now.
‘No.’
Maybe it was an extremely weak look that only someone like that could show.
There was something Cale had to ask Kang Geun Mok.
It was something he had been curious about since earlier.
However-
“…Based on what?”
What about Cale was giving him the faith to ask to be saved?
“What about me made you decide to ask to be saved?”
How could he be so certain?
Cale asked and Kang Geun Mok answered without any hesitation.
“Eyes.”
Cale and Kang Geun Mok made eye contact.
There was certainty in Kang Geun Mok’s eyes.
“I saw your eyes. In that nightmare, in that illusion of hell that has always followed me around… I saw something new for the first time. It was your eyes.”
It allowed him to get out of that nightmare.
Those eyes were able to pull him out of a nightmare that he had not been able to get out of until now, no matter what he tried.
Kang Geun Mok was truly curious.
“What kind of power is that?”
What was that firm and glowing power?
What was that power that felt scary but still helped him back up?
It felt like a power on the opposite side of that evil.
“…….”
Cale was silent for a moment.
‘That power?’
I just…
– I didn’t make any eyes?
I just used the Dominating Aura?
As the Dominating Aura sounded confused, the Sound of the Wind calmly commented.
– Cale. Didn’t the God of Chaos show eyes as well?
“!”
Cale’s eyes opened wide.
– Huh?
The Dominating Aura flinched.
– Hoo.
He then gasped in an extremely amused voice. Cale’s face filled with an odd sense of leeriness.
He thought about the eyes that appear every time the God of Chaos used his powers.
‘I feel like it is getting more and more similar to the God of Chaos’ power.
No way, right?
Naw.
Can’t be.
No way.
I really don’t like that at all.
No way. Right?’
“Who knows?”
Cale started to speak after a long pause.
“Maybe you just hallucinated. I don’t have a power like that.”
“Pfft.”
Kang Geun Mok shook his head.
“Whatever you say, sir.”
‘What the?
What is up with this guy’s response?’
Cale looked flustered as he turned his head.
“…….”
“…….”
He could see Rosalyn and Alberu looking at him with odd gazes as well.
Cale responded out of reflex.
“What is it? What?”
He then continued.
“I didn’t do anything!”
Nobody heard that he sounded as if he had been wronged.
Well, they heard it but they didn’t believe him.
“How far are you going to go?”
Rosalyn profoundly asked.
“…This is driving me nuts.”
Alberu just shook his head.
“I, I really didn’t!”
Cale felt wronged.
– Hehe.
The Dominating Aura just continued to let out some odd laughs.
