Wasteland: I Awakened A Plant System - Chapter 124: Split King

Chapter 124: Split King
Isha clenched her fist, her aura surging again. But this time, her expression wasn’t calm anymore.
“…What the hell are you?”
The creature looked at her, grinning wider, its eyes glowing deeper. “Now… this is getting interesting.”
But Isha didn’t hesitate, her aura flared again as she raised her hand, and dozens of energy chains burst from the ground, faster and denser than before, locking onto the creature from every direction.
They wrapped around its arms, torso, and legs, tightly.
“Got you this time,” Isha said, tightening her grip.
But the creature didn’t struggle.
It smiled.
Then, its body split apart. Its limbs separated from its torso, its torso split from its waist, its head detached, every part slipped through, escaped from the binding of the chain, and then reassembled right behind Isha.
“…What—”
Before she could react, “Tap.” A single finger flicked her forehead.
“BOOOOOOM—!!!”
Isha was blasted backward, her body tearing across the ground before crashing hard into the battlefield, dust erupting everywhere.
On the wall, everyone froze for a second. Then panic erupted.
“Captain!!”
“Isha!!”
“Aunt!!”
Vikram shouted, stepping forward instantly. Anger surged through him.
But before he could even move, something appeared beside him, without even a little noise, and tapped him from behind.
“You—” Vikram’s words stopped midway. His eyes widened. The creature was standing right next to him.
From so close, it felt worse, the pressure, the presence of this creature was so much heavier on Vikram. It leaned slightly toward him, head tilted, that same twisted grin appeared on its face.
“What, you? You are so rude. You don’t even have a little manners. Call me Split King,” the creature said, announcing its name.
Silence appeared on the wall, everyone was shocked to see that Split King had arrived here, no one dared to move even a little.
Vikram stared at it, forcing himself to stay calm, “…Since you can talk… since you have consciousness… Why are you attacking this town?”
Split King blinked once at his question, and then started laughing. “Bahahaha…!! Bahahaha…!!”
It turned its gaze toward the town below, then back at Vikram.
“Troubling?” It leaned closer to him.
“No, no… you misunderstand. I’m not troubling anyone.”
He tilted his head slightly, his eyes gleaming with twisted amusement before replying, “For me… these humans are nothing but pests. Dirt on the ground of Verdara.”
As he spoke, one of his hands detached from his body and shot forward. Before anyone could react, it grabbed one of Cameron Town’s guards by his head and lifted him into the air as if he weighed nothing.
“These pests… where they came from, I don’t know,” Split King continued calmly, bringing the struggling guard right in front of Vikram. “But one day… they suddenly appeared on our Verdara.”
His tone shifted, and it started becoming colder and angry, “And after arriving… they started polluting our beautiful world.”
The guard struggled, choking, his hands desperately trying to pry away the grip, but it was useless.
“They don’t deserve to exist here.” The Split King’s voice turned furious. And in the next instant.
“CRACK—!!!”
The guard’s head was crushed instantly, splitting apart into pieces. His blood scattered apart. For a brief second, everyone froze. Then, rage exploded at him.
“YOU—!!” Imran roared, his eyes burning with anger as he charged forward with his shield raised. He leaped straight at Split King, putting all his strength into the attack.
But Split King didn’t even look at him, not even a glance. He casually raised his split hand and punched.
“BOOM—!!”
Imran’s shield shattered instantly, breaking into pieces as the force went straight through it. His body bent unnaturally from the impact before being blasted backward like a broken doll.
“Imran!!” Raghav shouted, panic and anger mixing in his voice. He rushed forward, trying to catch him, but the force didn’t stop. Imran crashed into him.
And both of them were sent flying together, dragged across the wall before slamming hard into the ground, knocked out instantly.
Everyone fell silent. The shock was still fresh on their faces. Captain Isha… Carol, an SS-Rank awakener… even Imran and Raghav had been taken down so easily. It didn’t feel real.
Split King slowly looked around, as if enjoying their expressions.
“In our beautiful Verdara… these human pests do not deserve to exist,” he said calmly.
He paused, then continued almost casually, “But due to certain rules, we cannot interfere freely. We only get chances… on Saturday and Sunday.”
His smile widened slightly.
“In some places, we are able to clean these pests, in others… we lost.”
He tilted his head, as if thinking.
“But this time, I don’t know why… our god fought with your god and got a chance to allow me to cross our kingdom and arrive here. Normally, we can’t come so easily.”
He returned his gaze to Vikram.
“But now I understand. You are the variable here. You don’t belong here. Even our god doesn’t want you to exist.”
His voice turned colder.
“So he sent dangerous waves of zombies to this town.”
“On Saturday, we thought there was nothing special… that our god was just playing with you people and wanted to destroy this town.”
“But today, we found out what you can do. And yes… if you are allowed to exist and grow here, you will become a danger, for both us and our god.”
The detached hand of Split King returned and merged back into his arm. “You really shouldn’t exist here.”
Silence fell, it was cold and absolute.
He stepped forward, raised his hand, and aimed it directly at Vikram.
Before the punch could land, “GAGAAA—!!!”
The Guardian Druid appeared instantly, placing itself in front of Vikram. Its shield rose, glowing with defensive energy, standing firm like an unbreakable wall.
“BOOOOOOM—!!!”
But at the next second, the Guardian Druid was blasted backward. Its shield cracked, its body thrown across the wall, crashing heavily into the ground.
It was so effortless, like he was casually punching him.
Vikram froze for a moment after hearing those words. Variable. He didn’t even fully understand what that meant. For him, he had only come here to complete his quest.
But when he saw the Guardian Druid, his strongest defender, get blasted away so easily, reality hit him hard. This thing… was beyond anything that he had faced.
“…So what should I do,” Vikram said slowly, forcing himself to stay calm, “…if I don’t belong here?”
The Split King smiled, “You just need to be erased from existence.”
And he moved. His hand rose again, aiming straight for Vikram, but before it could land.
“WAWAAA—!!!” The Warrior Druid dashed in, its blade flashing. The strike landed and the Split King’s arm was cut clean off.
The Split King looked at his severed arm, then smiled wider. “…Amazing.”
The detached arm floated in the air, and in the next instant, “BOOM—!!”
It slammed into the Warrior Druid, sending it flying across the wall, crashing heavily and going still, “…But not difficult.”
Seeing that, the Assassin Sprout vanished. At the same time, the Phantom Sprout dissolved into darkness, preparing to strike from an unseen angle.
But Split King turned directly toward the Assassin Sprout. “Found you.” “BOOM—!!”
A single punch. The Assassin Sprout was blasted away, its small body tumbling unconsciously across the ground.
The Phantom Sprout emerged from the shadows, but before he hit, another punch hit him. It was struck mid-attack and thrown away, its form flickering unstably.
Split King turned back toward Vikram again, and went to hit him, when a water barrier formed instantly around Vikram. The Water Mage Sprout stood in front, controlling the shield with full focus.
At the same time, fire engulfed Split King. Pooja and the Fire Mage Sprout attacked together, flames roaring around his body.
Even Archer Sprouts attacked it with their arrows, Arjun appeared, striking with full force. Light burst forward as the Light Mage Sprout attacked, its radiant energy hitting directly.
Everyone attacked together, with everything they had. All at once.
But Split King didn’t dodge, not even once. He stood there, letting every attack hit him. The arrows broke. The physical strikes did nothing. Only the light made him pause slightly. The fire burnt him, but not enough.
He looked down at the flames on his body. “…If your fire was stronger…”
He brushed his shoulder lightly. The flames extinguished instantly. “…it might have done something.”
Before he even finished, Pooja was sent flying first, the Fire Mage Sprout followed her next.
One by one, he moved. His split hands shot out in different directions, punching and striking. Everyone was knocked out. Arjun, James, Deepak, Vikrant and Neha staggered, and knocked out instantly.
Within seconds, the battlefield on the wall collapsed. Now only a few remained, the Water Mage Sprout, Healer Sprout, Sana, Kavya, Ayesha, and Vikram.
Split King stepped forward again, but the Water Mage Sprout raised another barrier.
Split King punched, and the barrier instantly destroyed, the same punch continued forward and the Water Mage Sprout was blasted away.
Then it hits Vikram, with the punch impact, his body slammed into the wall with a dull thud, and for a moment, everything went blank. Then the pain flooded inside his mind, it was nbearable, spreading through every part of his body. It felt as if every bone had shattered.
His arms wouldn’t move. His legs refused to respond. Even breathing felt heavy, broken.
“…Ah…” A faint sound escaped his lips, barely audible.
He tried to stand, but his body didn’t listen. He couldn’t even lift himself.
Through his blurred vision, he saw Split King, walking toward him slowly, calmly, as if nothing could stop him.
Each step felt heavier than the last.
Vikram’s heart pounded. For the first time, he felt fear of death.
“…So this is it…” he thought weakly. He couldn’t move. Couldn’t fight. Couldn’t even call out.
The Split King stopped right in front of him, looking down, smiling.
“…You lasted longer than I expected,” he said casually.
He raised his hand slowly. “To think… someone like you could become a threat.”
His fingers curled into a fist. “…But in the end—”
Vikram’s vision dimmed, his consciousness slipping, while he heard, “…you were just another mistake.”
The fist came down.
And in that moment, Vikram felt death, so close he could almost touch it.
