Wasteland: I Awakened A Plant System - Chapter 129: Divya’s Grim Situation

Chapter 129: Divya’s Grim Situation
[ Divya: So you admit it? ]
Divya didn’t say where she got the information, but instead questioned Shalini.
There was a moment of silence on the other end before she continued.
[ Shalini: That’s right, but aside from that, Savage Wolf Shelter is arguably the best Shelter in the entire Wasteland, with the most resources. ]
[ Shalini: It’s not a loss for you to come here, is it? ]
Divya was stunned by her outrageous statement, and even Anjali kept rubbing her eyes, looking utterly flabbergasted.
They simply couldn’t comprehend Shalini’s statements, which were based on a completely different worldview.
In contrast to the two best friends, Shalini was very open-minded about it.
In the Wasteland apocalypse, as long as one could survive, anything was worth considering; what was a mere physical body?
To be able to secure food and clothing without worry just by relying on a bit of flesh below the navel, for her, this was a pure profit.
After all, life was like that; if you couldn’t resist, you could only enjoy it, which was understandable.
Returning to Divya’s perspective, upon receiving Shalini’s unreserved answer, Divya no longer cared about anything else; she didn’t even have the mood to question her, and began packing all the supplies in the Shelter.
“Hurry, Anju, we don’t have much time. Prioritize taking the cold-weather supplies, then food.” Grabbing a thin quilt, Divya stuffed it into her backpack.
She didn’t know how far Savage Wolf Shelter was from here, but every moment they stayed here risked being captured by Savage Wolf Shelter.
“Okay.” Anjali only then belatedly realized the seriousness of the situation, and without saying anything more to tempt fate, she also began to organize supplies.
Time was pressing, and the two of them packed up their few supplies in two minutes.
Divya was the first to push open the door; their Shelter was built in a natural cave halfway up the mountain.
Normally, the scenery here was pleasant, and the path down the mountain wasn’t very steep, making it an ideal Shelter.
At this moment, the two best friends, carrying large and small bags, walked out of the door into the wind and snow.
“Divya, are we really giving up the small house we worked so hard to build?” Anjali asked timidly.
Her eyes were full of reluctance for the small house they didn’t have time to take with them.
Divya was also reluctant to leave the Shelter she had built with her own hands, but she had no choice. “Let’s go. As long as we escape from here first, we’ll always find a way.”
“Then where do we run?”
“We can’t just wander aimlessly, can we?” As she spoke, her gaze swept across the horizon, where the Wasteland was nothing but a vast expanse of white snow.
Hearing Anjali’s question and looking at the falling snow, Divya’s eyes were also filled with confusion; she had nowhere good to go for a while.
“Divya, let’s go to Radhika. Her Shelter definitely isn’t as disgusting as Savage Wolf Shelter.” Seeing that Divya had no idea, Anjali was the first to suggest it.
Upon hearing this, Divya merely shook her head. “Radhika’s Shelter isn’t well-off. They’re barely getting by themselves, so going to them would only make things difficult for her.”
She was about to say more, but unexpectedly, Anjali pointed down the mountain, her pupils constricted to pinpricks.
“Divya, do you see those black dots? Are they moving?” Her voice trembled slightly as she spoke.
Following Anjali’s fair finger, Divya quickly found the black dots in the wind and snow at the foot of the mountain.
On the snow-covered ground, five black dots left deep footprints where they passed.
After confirming that it wasn’t an illusion, Divya immediately pulled Anjali and ran towards the back of the mountain.
“Pat-a-pat—pat-a-pat—” The ordinary cloth shoes crunched on the snow, making a crisp sound.
The two of them, however, felt completely opposite; if it wasn’t a coincidence, those five black dots at the foot of the mountain were people sent by Savage Wolf Shelter to find them.
Now they didn’t care exactly where they were going; they could only run in the opposite direction of the black dots’ advance.
At the same time, she opened the chat group; her message with Shalini had long been submerged by messages from other group members, and Shalini had already been kicked out of the chat.
The reason Divya didn’t talk to her privately was to let all the group members know Shalini’s stance.
She didn’t know what she would face next, but at least for now, she had removed a cancerous tumor from the group.
Just asking for group members’ coordinates and trying to forcibly take them away had already provoked public outrage.
The original intention of establishing the small group was mutual help; now, with this incident, everyone was united against an external threat.
[ Director Aditya: How are you two doing now? Shalini is no longer in the chat. ]
[ Director Aditya: Is there anything we can help with? Don’t hesitate to ask directly. ]
Director Aditya was currently still in the zombie ruins emptied by Vikram; such an incident suddenly appearing in the group caught him off guard.
[ Anjali: Five people from Savage Wolf Shelter have arrived and are almost at our Shelter. We are currently on the run. ]
[ Director Aditya: Where are you now? Give us your coordinates and see if any nearby group members can help. ]
Anjali now had a bit of psychological trauma hearing the word ’coordinates’; after all, it was this thing that caused them to be homeless.
She looked at Divya, meaning she was seeking Divya’s opinion.
“Just report it. There’s no better way right now.” Although Shalini made her a bit wary about reporting coordinates, for now, she could only choose to trust the group members.
[ Anjali: (Coordinates) ]
[ Director Aditya: Now is the time for group members in need. At these coordinates, are there any group members who can lend a hand? ]
Director Aditya first checked the location and found that the coordinates were about four hundred kilometers from the ruins where he was located.
Without a vehicle, by the time he got there, it would be too late.
[ Radhika: Sorry, Divya, Anju, I’m too far from you. I probably can’t help you. ]
[ Bobby: Sorry, I’m almost a thousand kilometers from you. ]
[ Sunny Dalal: Goddess, I’m only two hundred kilometers from you. Wait for me to come save you. ]
[ Geetanjali: Are you kidding? Two hundred kilometers? It would take you a whole day to run that distance. By the time you get there, they would have long been captured. ]
[ Geetanjali: Divya, Anju, I see that there are no group members very close to you in the group, and constantly running isn’t a solution. ]
[ Geetanjali: I’d rather you find a hidden place to hide along the way, wait for the people from Savage Wolf Shelter to leave after not finding you, and then make plans. ]
[ Geetanjali: But remember not to expose your location again. Find a group member you trust to come find you. ]
Geetanjali didn’t waste time saying meaningless things about not being able to provide support but offered a good idea to the two best friends.
Loo
[ Director Aditya: Geeta is right. This way, at least you can avoid the members of Savage Wolf Shelter first. ]
[ Director Aditya: Maybe you’ll be lucky on your escape route and even find some wild Survivors to help you or something. ]
[ Director Aditya: We can’t give you substantial help for now, but if you need any supplies at the moment, just ask, and the group members will not be stingy. ]
[ Divya: Okay, thank you everyone. I don’t need anything for now. ]
[ Divya: I’ll contact you all again if anything comes up. ]
Hastily closing the chat, the two continued to move their feet without stopping, not daring to slack off even though the snow-covered path made progress very difficult.
Their most pressing task at the moment was to escape the search of the Savage Wolf Shelter; supplies were not yet in short supply.
“Hurry, Anju, there’s not much time. There’s a dense forest not far down the mountain. Let’s try to get there and hide first.” On the way down the mountain, Divya frowned, her tone anxious.
Based on the location and speed of the five people down the mountain just now, they would reach their Shelter in less than half an hour at most.
They had to put a significant distance between themselves and them before that, otherwise, if their location was truly discovered, they would have no chance of escape.
As for the footprints left by their escape, she had no time to worry about them anymore. Now, Divya could only pray that the snow would fall heavier, covering their tracks as much as possible…
